Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

After having a fun side adventure in Eclo Canyon, it was now time for Fabrizie to do what she had come to Orre to do: study evolution. The old Show Lab in the desert was the best place to start, in her opinion. It was close to Agate, which she had made her unofficial home base, and surely had plenty of information about whatever silly plans of the 'Shadow pokemon' for her to look at. At the very least, she might fight an interesting pokemon to document if she wasn't that lucky.
In the daylight the lab wasn't as imposing as it seemed at night. Barren, maybe, but not bad. It was in bad shape and Fabrizia couldn't guess why anyone other than delinquents or silly teenagers would want to come out here at night. Since there were rumors of flickering lights, after all. Either way, she found a window that was busted out and didn't seem blocked off by nonsense and slipped inside. If she happened to fall on her rump when she did and scream like a child, no one would know it but her.
A preliminary look at what scraps of faded mess that could be found didn't provide any clues. She found a small amount of data about over riding the OT Chips in pokeballs, which prevented a Trainer from capturing someone else's pokemon, but she couldn't figure out for what purpose. The algorithms used were much too outdated now, anyway, and if applied to a modern pokeball wouldn't work. It would take a whole new system or a lot of tweaking to the original, but she didn't have the time, patience or see the reason to do so she left it alone.
Still, Fabrizia made sound notes on whatever small bits and pieces she found and made sure to take lots of pictures, as usual. Even if this was a fruitless effort, she was determined not to go home empty handed.

Everything that Fabrzia had managed to find so far had been disappointment pilled on top of more disappointment. The small scraps of info found were getting to be less and less useful, as she read and reread the same or similar information over and over. She didn't care about the chips. What she cared about was how these things stunted evolution, and she didn't think that rewiring a chip in the pokeball was what did it.
In frustration, Fabrizia kicked a pile of rubble to the side. It fell over, and there glimmering in the file was a particular object that the scientist hadn't expected to see. A Dragon Scale, which was more helpful than one would think. It was a catalyst, helping certain pokemon evolve just by being nearby it. She might not have actually had any pokemon that it could be used with, but it would still be a very interesting point of study later on. If anything, perhaps she could dissect it or find a Trainer willing to use it, if she couldn't herself. She dusted it off and placed it in her bag.
In slightly higher spirits, Fabrizia exited the room she had been in and looked down the hallways. She wondered if anyone else was here, if any pokemon were here, or if there was any really any point to staying any longer. She could always just call out Chance and leave, but something was telling her to stay.

It seemed that the shadow lab was just filled with scales today. No sooner than Fabrizia had chosen a direction to go in, she kicked a loose rock and underneathed a small treasure trove of items. Most of them were nothing more than pretty baubles or no longer able to be used, but it was an interesting enough find. It made her wonder just what else was hidden in the rubble or under the tiles of this place. Still, after picking through it, the only thing she really found of any interest was a pink scale. She knew it to be an item used to evolve a Clampearl, but couldn't place the name of what it was called at the moment. Either way, she cleaned it off and put it with her previous acquisition.
"Shift." Fabrizia took one of the balls from her pocket and released her pokemon, a Ditto she had studied and then captured at Eclo Canyon. The goopy pokemon didn't seem to like her very much, but it still listened to her at least. She supposed that for now that was all that really mattered, even if she hoped to later on forge a stronger bond with it. After it realized it was out of its ball, Shift looked around for a moment then up at Fab. It pouted and huffed, staring intently as it wiggled in place.
"I want to explore deeper but there is a lot of debris in the way. Change into my shape and help me clear it." Shift watched her again for a moment, then slowly it's body warped and turned color. It turned itself into a dead look-alike for Fabrizia, except for the face which still had the dot-like eyes and line-like mouth.

Before any excavation could begin, Fabrizia found herself interrupted by a very nice archaeologist. He didn't seem to be any trouble and introduced himself as Indiana. He was also exploring this area, but for different reasons. They exchanged a few polite words before he got to point of what he wanted. Which was, a battle. He had recently come across some young and inexperienced pokemon and wanted to strengthen then up some, which suited Fabrizia just fine. Even if she had goals to move rock, she had honestly come to a stand still in her research.
"Speckle!" She called the Feebas out, who yawned and flexed her fins a bit before settling in. She stared up at Fabrizia expectantly as Indiana let out a Ponyta. The creature kicked and bucked like any wild pony would do, eager for exercise and fun. It trotted in place some before Indiana could get it to where it needed to be. "Speckle, are you ready for a good battle?" She coaxed, which earned an excited fin flap on the floor from the fish pokemon.
"Use Scald for me!" It was really the only move that Speckle knew that would be of any use. Taking a deep 'breath', Speckle blew out a strong plume of boiling water at the Pony pokemon. It didn't seem to expect this and whinnied pitifully, shaking off a little water. Indiana ordered it to Growl. The Pony lowered its head and didn't so much growl as stomp its foot in anger and shake its head. Speckle met this with another Scald, soaking the creature and making it fall over. Fabrizia was thankful for inexperience and incompetence, or else Speckle might have had a harder time. The Ponyta stayed on the ground, either unable or unwilling to continue battling.
The next pokemon called out was a Natu. It wobbled from foot to foot and stared suspiciously at Speckle before it was ordered to Leer at her. Which, it did, and made the fish shudder. Speckle once again used Scald, bowling the small bird pokemon over from the force. Fabrizia could see the signs of a Burn blossoming on its round body, which gave her hope this would be over just as quickly as it started. The bird pokemon flew in and Pecked next, which Speckle could not avoid. While Speckle was shaken by the leer, the burn hindered the bird and it wasn't able to do as much damage as it probably hoped. Speckle hit it with another Scald, which sent the bird flying again. It stayed still, shaking from the water and not wanting to continue. Speckle was a little tired from the exertion, but at least she had won.
"Good job, Speckle." Fabrizia said coolly as she called her pokemon back. She was glad that she hadn't taken so much damage for her efforts. She hoped that her little fish gained some improvement from it. Indiana, seeming content with this battle, wished her luck in her research before moving on.
