Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

He jiggled the door handle on the first door he came across... locked. Well... this wasn't an area protected by law so... Alastair took a step back then ran, ramming his shoulder into the door. The old, rusted lock snapped and the door swung opened. It was dark inside. Alastair, for the hell of it, tried the lights. Nope. He didn't know why he would expect them to work. He took off his backpack and fished around in it, Potato helping by dragging out one of the spare shirts Alastair kept. He snatched it from the puppy and shoved it back in the bag and zipped it before Potato could find anything else to play with. Shrugging the bag back onto his shoulder, Alastair turned the flashlight on, the light flooding the room. No windows... no wonder. The moon would be out whenever the storm settled, but until it, it would probably be pretty dark.
Shining the light in all the corners and behind the door, Alastair checked for traps or an ambush. Who knew what kind of weirdos spent time in an abandoned... oh right, people like him. Alright, mean weirdos. Potato went sniffing around, Alastair keeping an eye on the puppy. Eventually, Potato gave a whine. Alastair walked over to him, pushing some heavy, fallen metal boxes away. Behind them, and where Potato was able to squeeze near, was another box. This one was cracked on the top. Alastair opened it and found bits of paper, some cloth. He fished around carefully, knowing that there might be something sharp in there. Eventually, his fingers brushed up against something cold. Alastair carefully picked it up and shined the light on it. A stone. Dark purple, nearly black in the middle. It looked like something he would want to keep. Alastair put it in a safe place in his bag, stood up, and left the room with Potato at his heels. Alright, to the next one.

He got ready to kick the next door down. He positioned himself and let out a breath and-
"You can't go down kicking doors until you knock first!" a girl said. Alastair looked at her and blinked.
"Why are you wearing a swimsuit? We're in the middle of the desert," he said. The girl stopped and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Well... uh... it doesn't matter you're breaking the law!"
"We're in the middle of the desert. Who's gonna stop me?" Alastair gave her a curious look. Her face had gotten really red.
The girl huffed. "I will!"
"Uh-oh," Alastair said under his breath. He just wanted to break down some doors and rummage for treasures and Pokemon, but if this girl insisted... he tossed out a pokeball, the Beldum appearing. It blinked. The little guy wasn't too badly hurt. He could handle one battle.
The girl tossed out her own pokeball, the Mudkip landing on the field. Huh. The fish and the Beldum seemed pretty even in level.
"Use Growl!" the girl said, the Mudkip growling. Leap stared at the Mudkip with its large eye. Alastair smiled. The girl looked flustered.
"Leap! Take Down!" Alastair said, the Beldum charging forward, slamming into the Mudkip hard enough to send it rocketing backwards. That was a hard hitting move. Much harder than Tackle. Leap looked a little damaged, but he was alright. The battle with Potato hadn't hurt the Pokemon too much, just make him tired.
"That's cheating!" the girl yelled.
"... you don't battle much do you?" Alastair asked. The Mudkip charged and tackled the Beldum, Leap backed up a few feet and then charged for another Take Down, giving a happy mechanical cry when the Mudkip struggled to get up. The Beldum looked over at Alastair and Alastair smiled. "Good job, Leap! Now dodge the incoming attack and finish it off!"
Leap did as told, floating a little higher to avoid the next tackle, then slamming into the Mudkip hard. Due to the heavy hits from the move, the Mudkip fainted. leap gave a sort of sighing sound and Alastair recalled the Pokemon. He nodded to Potato and the dog rushed out, growling and making his fur stand on end.
The girl tossed out her last pokeball, the Horsea being released onto the field, the water from the pokeball gathering around it. Alastair smiled. "Howl then Tackle!" He ordered, Potato letting out a Howl before charging, tackling the Horsea almost clean out of the water. The Horsea caught itself and narrowed its eyes, using Leer, then it shot out a spout of water. Potato, nervous due to the Leer, didn't tense before the attack hit, the water blast sending him skidding back on his paws.
"Sand Attack then Tackle!" Alastair said, the puppy kicking up sand before charging again, tackling the fish hard. The Horsea let out another blast of water, missing Potato. The dog charged and tackled again, knocking the fish back. The Horsea hit the ground and got up, the water surrounding it even dirtier from the sand attack and the debris it was picking up in the battle field.
"Come on! Water Gun!" the girl commanded, the fish firing another blast of water. Potato took the hit and then charged, tackling the fish once more. That hit was the final one. The Horsea, after getting it so strongly in the stomach, fainted. The girl recalled the Pokemon.
"Look," Alastair said, holding up his hands, "I'm just trying to explore the ship. If a police officer comes along and tells me what I'm doing is wrong, then I'll stop no argument."
The girl seemed to take this as a sort of apology and stormed off in her flip flops. Alastair blinked. Wow, people were weird. Then again, he did predict weirdos on this ship.

The door opened easily with a firm kick, yet Alastair didn't even have time to look inside. A Pokemon came back in surprise. Needless to say, Potato did not take kindly to the Pokemon's attitude. The puppy charged and kicked sand up in the Pokemon's eyes before tackling it back into the room. The Meditite came out of the room with a move that Alastair could feel the force of, but Potato didn't respond. The Meditite froze, almost in confusion that its move had failed. Potato scratched his ear with his back paw, shook his head, then gave a Howl before charging for another tackle.
The Meditite skidded back and tried the move again, Potato standing there firmly. Alastair got out his Pokedex and focused on Potato. He tapped the move database. He started reading while the puppy got to fighting.
The Meditite hovered for a moment, focusing all of its attention on calming itself, raising its own stats before moving out of the way of one of Potato's attacks, then the Meditite tensed, getting ready for an attack, focusing all of its rage into the move.
Alastair put the Pokedex away. Psychic types did nothing against dark types. That was something he had to take special note of. Alastair did recognize what the Meditite was doing, though, That one move that could knock out a Pokemon in one hit.
"Howl again then Tackle!" he ordered. Potato let out a Howl then charged, tackling the Meditite back. It snorted and kept focusing. It was starting to shake. They had a few moments left. "Don't tackle! Just Howl!"
Potato gave him a look. "That move will double the damage it takes, don't make it angry," Alastair said, hoping the dog understood. Chances are no, but Potato let out a Howl, then another one, then the Meditite charged. The Pokemon struck Potato down, but the puppy got back up and then tackled it hard, sending it skidding back. The Meditite backed away and Meditated again, Potato taking the chance to tackle it again, being more harsh with his attacks. The Howls had raised his will to fight, and the Meditite was feeling it. The Meditite backed away and focused for a Bide once more.
"You can faint it before it moves! Tackle!" Alastair ordered, Potato charging. He tackle the Pokemon hard enough to back it into a wall. The Meditite growled and continued to focus. Potato growled and his fur bristled, then he charged, slamming the Pokemon into the wall again. The Meditite dropped to their knees, fainted.
Potato wagged his tail and looked at Alastair. "Good boy!" Alastair said, Potato giving a happy bark. They went to the next door.

The next door was opened. Alastair pushed his way inside and found someone looking around it. Seems he wasn't the only person with that idea. The guy looked at him, then jumped. "You scared the hell out of me!" he said. Alastair gave a smile. "Sorry," he said, "find anything interesting?" "No." The man scratched the back of his head. "You?" Alastair thought about it. "A rock." "What kind of rock?" "A purple one." The man nodded wisely. Rocks were always good finds. Even Alastair knew this. They were always special in some sense. The man dusted his hands off and seemed to think about something.
"What to fight?" he asked. Alastair smiled and said, "Thought you would never ask!" The room was big enough for a battle, the floor mostly clear. The man tossed out a pokeball and the Stantler landed on the field, shaking out its fur and jabbing its horns in Alastair's general direction. Potato gave a growl and jumped out onto the field. The dog shook, his will to attack dropping a bit... well, he had a remedy for that.
"Me First!" the man said, the Stantler getting ready to grab one of Potato's moves. Potato, instead of attacking, let out a Howl. The Stantler looked taken aback. That wasn't what it had expected. So much for nabbing a move off of the pup and hitting it back harder. "Fine then, Tackle!"
"Out of the way then Sand Attack!" Alastair ordered, Potato jumping away from the deer only to kick up dirt right after, decreasing the vision of the deer.
"Astonish!" the deer gave a strange barking noise, making Potato jump in a flinch. "Now Tackle while he's frozen!" the deer rushed forward, but missed by a few inches. Potato rounded on the deer and Tackled, crashing the Stantler into a stack of old cardboard boxes. The empty boxes tumbled down, making a mess in the room. A worse mess, that is.
"Potato! Howl then Tackle!" Alastair said, the deer getting ready with another Me First, only to have it fail during the status enhancing move. Potato charged and was able to tackle the deer's back legs when it tried to dodge, doing a little bit of damage.
The Stantler shot Potato a leer, making the puppy shiver in fear, then the deer charged, tackling Potato again. The dog went tumbling back and caught himself, letting out a loud Howl before charging again, tackling the deer much harder than before. The attack made the Stantler stumble back and fall on his side, but he got up soon enough and shook himself out. Potato was growling lowly. This fight was almost over, he could feel it.
The deer charged forward with a Tackle, and Potato met them half way, the two crashing into each other. Potato landed hard on his side, giving a whine as he slowly stood up. The Stantler laid there, panting before its breath evened out. It was a faint. Alastair rubbed Potato's ears, the puppy laying beside his feet. That must have taken a lot out of the poor boy. Well, he could rest for the remainder of the fight.
The traveler tossed out his second pokeball, recalling the injured Stantler. The second Pokemon was a pink rabbit. It would have been adorable if it wasn't for those terrifying spikes all over its back. They weren't dripping with poison however, so that problem was solved. Alastair got out another pokeball and tossed out Monday, the pokeball's middle button glowing as it helped to form water around the floating fish. Monday snapped his jaws. He hadn't got to fight in forever!
"Monday!" Alastair said, "Bite!" Monday darted forward, swimming as fast as he could, then latched his jaws onto the rabbit, viciously shaking it out before releasing his grip, the rabbit skidding on the ground. The bunny huffed. Got up. And charged with a Peck. The Nidoran M drilled his horn into Monday's side, but soon recoiled back with a cry. Monday's rough skin had caused some damage.
"Double Kick!" the man said. Alastair winced. Oops.
"Dodge it, Monday!"
Monday darted out of the way on the first kick, the second one slamming into him. The dark water type recoiled and shook himself. Well, maybe it was because of hid duel typing, but that didn't seem to hurt him as bad as Alastair thought. Not only that, but the Nidoran M was feeling the pain on Monday's tough hide. "Now Bite!"
"Focus Energy!"
Monday bit the Nidoran M again, the rabbit tensing and focusing all of its energy. Then it charged forward before Monday could move, jabbing the fish again with another Peck. The rabbit winced. Monday snapped his jaws in the air and charged, biting the rabbit again. That one looked even more painful than the last few. Alastair could see the puncture wounds on the tough scales of the rabbit's hide. Should rabbits even have scales? It was a question worth asking. But not at this moment.
"Monday!" Alastair said, "Try to finish it off!"
The Nidoran M charged with another Peck, hitting right at Monday's weak spot, but the fish recoiled with a well placed Bite. The combination of the bites and the rough skin the Nidoran M had encountered had been too much. It went limp in Monday's jaws and the fish dropped it, swimming over to Alastair.
"Good job!" Alastair said, avoiding the rough skin of the fish as Monday swam around him in a tight circle.
The man recalled his bunny and thanked Alastair for the battle, then left. Alastair hoped the man had some healing items on him. The sound of the storm hitting the side of the ship was soft but noticeable. Who knew when it would end...

The next room was empty, and so was the next. That left the next floor to explore. Alastair located the stairs, but before he could even head up them, Potato had darted down the hall. Alastair gave a disgruntled sigh and then chased after Potato, yelling at him to stop running off like a mutt. He skidded to a stop at one of the empty rooms he had checked, and found the dog growling. Was something in here? Alastair began to poke around a little more carefully. Eventually, he found the problem. It was a Pokemon. Potato charged in front of Alastair and bit the Pokemon. Alastair stepped back in mild shock. A new move? Well that was helpful.
The Baltoy gave a surprised shout and backed away at the dark type move, then responded with a Confusion. Potato, not wanting to play that game, charged again with another Bite and followed up with a Howl. The Baltoy reared back and used Harden, toughing up his outer shell to prepare for the next several attacks. Potato ran forward again, offering another Bite. The Baltoy responded with Rapid Spin, hitting the puppy hard.
Potato howled again and used Bite, dodging a Mud-Slap. The Baltoy used harden again, and the puppy charged with yet another bite, latching onto one of the strange arms of the Pokemon. Alastair watched this struggle in mild annoyance. Why couldn't they have just gone up stairs? Potato wasn't fit to keep up these battles.
Eventually, the Baltoy fainted after another Bite was used, and Potato gave a tired whine up at Alastair. yeah, he could relate. He recalled Potato and got out Monday's pokeball, releasing the fish. The piranha following Alastair back to the stairs and up them in silence, looking at everything as if it had personally insulted him.
