Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

After thorougly exploring the SS Libra, Tristan made his way over to Eclo Canyon as he had remembered hearing rumors about a rare pokemon being spotted there. He parked his hover bike near the edge of the canyon – making sure to take the keys out of the ignition so that nobody else would be able to use it in the event that they were able to get to it.
If the rumors were correct, the pokemon that was supposedly found here was a fire-type. If he was lucky, it might even be a charmander. Of course, he already had Vesta as his partner – but it couldn't hurt to have another in the event that Vesta would be put out of commission, right? As these thoughts came to mind, Tristan quickly brought himself back to reality.
Confident that nobody would be able to take his bike, Tristan and Vesta slowly made their way into the canyon to begin the search for the pokemon that was supposedly found there.

Tristan and Vesta had barely been in Eclo Canyon for ten minutes before the young blond trainer suddenly tripped. This was a rare occurrence for the young man because he was the exact opposite of clumsy. Of course, he wasn't exactly "gracious" but he certainly never tripped over his two feet. It was because of this that he became suspicious. As his left knee appeared to be bleeding slightly, he called out his poliwag to rinse off the blood with a light water gun before he wrapped his knee up with some bandages that he had originally packed in the event that he ran into his old college buddy, someone who would most definitely have come to the canyon in search of the rumored fire lizard.
As Tristan was fixing up his knee, he said to his vulpix, "Go get whatever it was that I tripped over." By the time his injury was wrapped up, Tristan's vulpix had returned with a small bottle in between its mouth. The blond trainer held out one of his hands to receive the bottle from his vulpix and was surprised to find that it had been a bottle of moomoo milk – a popular drink that originated from the Johto region.
He cursed under his breath before he got up off of the ground. He swept the dirt off of his shorts and recalled his poliwag. Tristan sighed in frustration as he spoke to his starter once more, "Let's keep going, Vesta."
@moderator - 247 words - looks like he's having some bad luck here...
Well, this was new. Tristan had thought that he was having bad luck after tripping over that stray bottle of moomoo milk – but this definitely changed his mind. He and Vesta had walked around with no encounters for around five minutes when they ran into the very pokemon that had brought them here in the first place...a charmander. The blond trainer couldn't even believe his luck right now. He had been hoping that it wouldn't take too long to come across the infamous fire lizard pokemon – but he certainly didn't think that he would run into it so soon. He chuckled to himself as he asked his starter, "What do you think, Vesta? Should I bring Kai out or do you want to take it on?" In response to his words, his loyal vulpix quickly dashed in front of him – fully prepared to do battle. Seeing her reaction made it nearly impossible for Tristan to keep himself from grinning. Her enthusiasm for this particular battle made it even more exciting for him.
Besides...now that he took a closer look at the charmander, Tristan wasn't even sure that his little poliwag would have been able to take the heat. He took a deep breath before he called out to his vulpix, "Vesta, start things off with quick attack!" The small fox pokemon rushed toward the lizard pokemon as quickly as possible, successfully making contact with it. In retaliation, the charmander scratched at his vulpix. Slightly upset, Tristan called out another set of orders, "Use tail whip and then another quick attack!" This time, Tristan's vulpix whacked the charmander with her tail before rushing and hitting the fire lizard as fast as she could. The opposing charmander growled at Tristan's vulpix before going for another scratch. As he was witnessing this, Tristan gave one more command to his loyal starter, "Dodge it and use one last quick attack!"
This time around, Vesta successfully evaded the charmander's claws...and at that moment, Tristan tossed a pokeball toward the fire lizard. Once the lizard was encased inside the pokeball, Tristan watched it move back and forth as the charmander struggled to break free.

Nobody that really knew Tristan would have been surprised by the shit-eating grin that appeared on his face when he saw that the pokeball had settled down – signifying the successful capture. The way that his trusty vulpix was jumping in glee let Tristan know that his starter knew how happy he was about this particular capture. Squirtle and charmander had been two pokemon from Kanto, aside from vulpix, that Tristan absolutely loved – and now he had both of them. He couldn't help but be excited about it.
Despite his injured knee, Tristan jogged toward the pokeball of his newly acquired charmander – a pokemon who would now be known as Salamander due to the blond trainer's weird obsession with mythology. As he picked up the charmander's pokeball and placed it on his belt, he noticed a pair of items a few feet away.
Curious, Tristan and Vesta walked toward the stray items and found two types of capture devices: a common pokeball and a net ball. For Tristan, this was rather convenient as he was actually running low on pokeballs anyway. He'd have to make sure to stop by a mart on his way home to Phenac City.
@moderator - 197 words - and it looks like tristan already replaced the pokeball that he just used, lol
[attr="class","mdhtextbod"]Please note: When a pokemon is captured it defaults to 3/5 on the battle counter so his charmander should be at 3/5 for this thread instead of 1/5
