Aries born children are typically head-on. They tackle any problem with the drive to resolve it no matter the price. They are born leaders, and Matthew fits that card in the deck rather well. He has inherited several dominating traits from his parents and their parents, and they show in the office. The recessive ones are more prone to outside circumstances.
[break][break]
On the job, Matthew is no-nonsense when it comes to important matters. He is stern and to the very last letter. If someone slips up or falls behind, he will not hesitate to help get them back on track. If someone is being lazy or playing mole, Matthew will find them and boot them to the streets feeling dazed and confused. Should they apologize, Matthew will be reluctant to accept, but ultimately give them a second chance, and make sure to keep a close eye on them.
[break][break]
This is due to his biggest fear. As an engineer, Matthew hates failure but loves improvement. If he discovers a kink or a flaw in the system, he will start from scratch, completely discarding the object and focusing on a new and improved one. In his line of business, people are easy to find, but some are hard to replace. On top of that, lectures are required to make sure that the one in error of being replaced will listen. Small talk never works in his office, although there have been some instances of this. There's not a moment in time that he regrets it whenever he remembers.
[break][break]
To add on to the lectures, Matthew has extensively studied law alongside criminology, and has paved his own golden rules for the office and himself. While those on the walls are the staple of every enterprise, and are compared with others, his own rules are absolute.
[break][break]
They have never been shared, nor will they ever be.
[break][break]
When not at work and fresh out of the shop, Matthew is the complete opposite. His inventive and creative mind tends to express itself verbally. If engaged in a conversation about something like a new model of phone or fishing rod, Matthew will tend to explain how he feel it could be improved. This not only gets the other person thinking, but also makes them smile and say, "Hey. That's not a bad idea." Of course some people will disagree, which just makes Matthew laugh. Laughter is one of the few things that makes Matthew smile. He's not much of a joker, but tries his best to impress off the job. Some people laugh, some won't. That doesn't affect Matthew at all. He takes a majority of negativity the way it should be taken; with a wall to deflect it and a shrug of his shoulders. Those words he fails to ignore are often used in a more constructive manner and only further his desire for improvement of any kind.
[break][break]
Making friends is not an easy task for Matthew. Even with the ability to make someone laugh, it's only temporary. Not many people are found of making friends with someone of such power, but if they do, they can expect to be friends with him for a long time. As Matthew is a born leader, he has a firm sense of protecting people who are close, even if just a bit. If losing a friend should happen, Matthew will find himself at a local 24-hour bar, drinking a few shots of Vodka before storming off and forgetting he ever met them. This happens all in the early hours of the morning, when he should be asleep.
[break][break]
As a nocturnal creature, Matthew usually ends his nights with a quick walk home, listening to his favorite music, which varies on the mood he's in. Progressive rock if he is happy, or metal if he is angry or sad. However, if he's not in any particular mood, he'll often mix both. Music has a way of unlocking one's one thoughts and behavior, as well as the ability to understand what the music and lyrics truly mean. The more dangerous the tone and message, the more dangerous the listener.
[break][break]
As a veteran battler, Matthew often avoids giving direct commands, unless the Pokemon battling alongside is incapable of utilizing two or more moves at once. To give a direct command is a violation of one of his battling rules. Using a direct command gives the Pokemon vulnerability, and allows the enemy to counter-attack. Providing a keyword, which Matthew calls out as a metaphor, negates this and allows for a deeper, and often longer battle.
[break][break]
Deciphering the metaphor is one half, while finding a way to disable it, is another. Matthew thoroughly enjoys this; it's the perfect crime on a fair and just field of battle.
[break][break]
Recently, Matthew has been suffering a series of mental breakdowns followed by bouts of introspection. This is no doubt caused by his encounter with a peculiar woman, and the unraveling of the dream he had witnessed upon arriving to Anrui.

"So you'd like to know about my history, huh? All right. I've grown tired of all this 3rd person shit. I always have trouble with it, and I'm betting you're tired of it as well.
[break][break]
Let's get on with it shall we? I'll start from the beginning and end where we currently are. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for me, okay? You're gonna love this story o' mine."
[break][break]
"1987. I'm pretty sure that's a year people will come to remember. It's when the birth of something inevitable occurred. The first ripple in the ocean; the first heart beat of the embodiment of chaos. Heh. I love that word... Chaos. An ocean of chaos. Oh, it gives me chills.
[break][break]
Anyway, I'm obviously making myself sound more important than I really am. And I'm really fucking important. I mean I am the only heir and current head of Silph Co. And of course something else, but we'll get to that soon. I promise not to skip any details like that."
[break][break]
"Yes, right... I was born on that fateful day of March 23rd. My life started like any other when I was just a baby. I learned to walk, talk, and give the finger! Seriously. I learned how to flip the bird when I was just 2 years old. It's in my collection of birthday videos. I don't think we'll get a chance to watch them, sadly. But yeah, we'll skip ahead to my, uh, elementary school days when I was 5-6 years old.
[break][break]
My parents, rich as they were, didn't want to spoil me. So they sent me to the local school in Fuchsia. I learned absolutely nothing there, to be honest, except where every damn region is in the world. I actually loved those days, watching a teacher ramble on about basic math skills and then catching my full attention with a map of our world. It was amazing!"
[break][break]
"Oh, I would always question the teacher about the map in my little kid voice. After learning everything I could about the neighboring region, Johto, I decided I was going to travel. Of course, this didn't happen for years to come. School went by quickly and I had a few friends. I was quite shy, but when one of pals needed help with geography, I'd be the first one to call. I really opened up to them during that time."
[break][break]
"Middle school. 11 years old. The second biggest hump in the educational system. These are days I hardly remember, but I'll try my best to do so. It was at this point where I wanted to pick classes for myself. I don't think I was able to until high school. I do remember one class that got me into learning how to make devices from scrap metal. You see that laptop over there? I made that. Of course it's refined now. I lacked the proper materials to make it more sleek. It wasn't the first thing I made though. No. The first thing I made took forever. I hated it. The failures, I mean. It was such a simple device; a toy designed for kids who played Ninja..."
[break][break]
"Oh, I'm sorry I went off track. Uh... Right. Middle School. I made at least one or two more friends. I think I graduated with at least a total of 4 friends. I even developed my first crush. I forgot her name... I think it started with a T... Or was it an R? Eh, she's not important now. I'll explain why soon.
[break][break]
Middle School ended rather quickly for me. I sped through my classes as my mind developed and applied the information that stuck. High School came quickly. Me and my friends took some of the same classes. My helpfulness led them to graduating with me right when he hit 17. Yeah. We graduated that early. Others usually do that at 19. 12 years, just like that. I gained my first girlfriend; my middle school crush. We started dating in our freshman years and stayed that way until after graduation."
[break][break]
"I quickly took a shining to the business classes, which actually didn't reveal itself until Bring-Your-Son-To-Work-Day when I was still in Middle School. My engineering skills were sharpened to the maximum. After school I stayed behind to work on projects of my own. I worked part time to build my own workshop in a run-down building at the edge of town near the school. I ended up living there when my Junior years were just starting. My friends actually moved in with me, too. Those were the best days of my school life."
[break][break]
"That's when it happened. After graduation, we made some plans to stick together for a while and enjoy life. Carpe Diem. No, I didn't get that from Dead Poet's Society. I actually learned Latin in school. It's not my favorite phrase, though.
[break][break]
Anyway, for our graduation special, One of my friends took us out to eat at this fancy Greek restaurant. We wanted to eat on the deck, but the tables were full, so we got shoved inside. The place was amazing, the food was delicious and the laughs were plentiful....
[break][break]
At least until they stopped... The window behind us broke; a small purple ball bounced off the table and onto the floor. I went to check it out. The second I realized what it was, it was too late.
[break][break]
It exploded. I took an unhealthy dose of smoke into my system. My friends and everyone else were coughing as armed troopers stormed the place. One of them picked me up and tossed me aside like a rag-doll. I wasn't skinny, but I wasn't heavy either back then. I fainted as my girlfriend found me and wrapped her arms tight around my body. I don't know what happened to the others.
[break][break]
I spent close to a year in the hospital totally unconscious. I missed my 18th birthday. That's one video you definitely won't see and one I want to forget. My lungs seriously took a heavy dose of smoke and were about to fail until I woke up. It was a painful miracle. My first real breath of fresh air since I tried to warn my friends. Speaking of which, they visited for a few months. Now they're long gone. My girlfriend stayed longer, despite her hope for my recovery diminishing with each tear she made. She left two months before I woke up; hooked up with one of her old friends. He's a lucky guy and she's a lucky girl."
[break][break]
"My recovery period was agonizing and... enlightening. Before my parents died they wrote me into their will. I was they only to inherit everything they had. I wish I wasn't. They left me with millions of dollars they had stored away, a motorcycle, and two very important things. A Pokeball and the entire staff and building of Silph Co.
[break][break]
When I was recovering, one of the nurses had the courtesy to tape the news of the incident. She waited until I was ready to move around. The tape covered the whole thing, as well as the police investigation. Some of the officers visited me as well. They were friends of my father.
[break][break]
On the tape was security footage from the restaurant. It showed everything I told you about, except one small detail. The police force teamed up with every god damn investigative service in the region. Being the heir to Silph apparently attracts a lot of attention.
[break][break]
And enemies. A couple of tables behind us sat a man. He had a large grin on his face and didn't recognize me when I looked at him before we sat down. For whatever reason, he was celebrating the success of devising a fool proof plan to overthrow my father and murder his wife. The result would make him emotionally unfit to run the company and leave it to the second-in-command. That man I mentioned, was the second-in-command."
[break][break]
"Well that plan backfired except for the fact that my mother was murdered that night. My father caught wind of this and, paranoid, sent out a couple of men to send a message. My father didn't know where I was. He didn't discover this until he grabbed me by the throat in his rage and tossed me aside.
[break][break]
I spent the rest of my days transforming. The impact of what my father did and how much pressure was thrown onto me turned me into a criminal. Years of watching and reading about thieves and murderers finally took effect, when it should have been the heroes instead."
[break][break]
"Right now, you just analyzed me. Didn't you? You did, I can see it on your face. Well let me tell you something. I have no mental conditions; I am perfectly normal. The doctors and shrinks would even agree. There's nothing wrong with me. I'm simply a man and my story is almost over."
[break][break]
"Thank you. I recovered and found myself in here in Saffron, sitting on the top floor of Silph Co. with the most beautifully laminated redwood desk with two folders in front of me. They both made me smile from ear to ear. One was about my plans for my new company. I fired anyone who worked with the former second-in-command and hired someone I met at a cafe. She would grow to be the sister I never had and always wanted. She had no job, no home, and no hope. She mirrored me in every way. Except she's a lesbian and never had any big accidents. I took her in and we got along quite well. I couldn't ask for a better second-in-command."
[break][break]
"I'm sorry, you want to know about the second file? Alright. It's pretty obvious how my company is doing seeing as we're sitting in my office. but first let me tell you something...
[break][break]
Remember that invention I talked about? The one that was designed for kids who played 'Ninja'? Well, you know I trust you right? You're a ranger after all and you're here all by your lonesome. There's just one problem... Some secrets must never escape the lips, no matter how close you are to the one you trust. I'm not one to hide anything.
[break][break]
Sorry, I need to get up and walk around for a second; my legs are starting to fall asleep. Now, in my left hand pocket is a flash grenade with a nasty side effect. You're about to reach for your gun and threaten me, but you know that if you take it out, I'll drop this grenade right behind you and run. You'll be unconscious and, by the time you wake up, you'll be at home and in bed with your beautiful wife. Oh, and that nasty side effect I mentioned? The grenade also serves as a memory wipe. You won't remember a thing about what happened tonight."
[break][break]
"Shut up and let me finish you little worm. I said I was a criminal, right? I never said what kind of criminal. In fact, you don't even know what kind of criminal I am because I haven't killed anyone. I'm not linked to any murder and I never will be. I do good to clean up after myself. I'm not a criminal you'd find on the streets, either. I have no reason to be there, well except when I want to go for a walk. I'm a criminal right where we are. I have no revenge plans for my father, so you can cross that off your list of motives. I was inspired by the fictional characters that made crime a passion. They created history. I want to create history, too.
[break][break]
You see, I own an underground crime organization; a family of corrupt individuals who would gladly take a bullet for their comrades. We are equal amongst one another. Our motives are based off three things; our mutual lust for Power, Fame, and Fortune. With an iron fist I command an army of thieves, poachers, scientists and doctors. All right under your very nose. I have invented tools for the capture of powerful Pokémon, among other things. In fact, one of them is behind me right now. His name is Samuel and he was my graduation gift from Mom. He's a Muk and his stench, which you can't smell by the way, was the basis for this little thing in my hand. The reason why you can't smell anything is all thanks to this very room we're in. My scientists created an enhanced filter that absorbs all the dust and odor in the area, no matter how... heavy it is. I love the blob to death, but his stench just knocks me out sometimes.
[break][break]
Anyway while I was rambling, it should have dawned on you by now what that other file contained. I'll give you a hint. I spoke two letters earlier. Do you remember what they are? Feel free to take your time."
[break][break]
"What was that? That... That's right. 'T' and 'R'. What do they spell out? Team Rocket! You're a lot smarter than I expected! Yes. I am the Boss, and founder of Team Rocket. We've been under the radar for a while now, and as soon as I wrap this up, my legacy will begin. We'll move around; get help from across the ocean. I don't want to take over the world, no. That's just stupid. Only fools and cretins want that. I want to have fun, and I'm having so much fun right now."
[break][break]
"Oh, there's one last thing. It's after midnight, and I'm finished. I think I've said everything I need to say. I do hope you're tired right now..."
[break][break]
"Good night, ranger; your wife can't sleep without you, and don't worry, my scouts will get you home safe and sound. When you wake up, you'll be happy as a lark. I do hope we meet again, but... not too soon."
[break][break]
"Lucia! Take care of Samuel and the others. I have to leave in the morning. There's a certain cluster of islands I've always wanted to visit."
[break][break]

Matthew, or Faceless as he is called when donning the mask, is an anomaly chosen by Palkia, the Dragon God of Space. I wanted to fit him in during my return here, so I came across a little story with the help of some of the users. I condensed his story into the following Journal Entry:
[break][break]
Journal Log #ooo[break]
"I've arrived in Anrui's Hyo City Docks as planned. The trip went rather well, but I've had trouble sleeping. Just last night I had a very strange dream. Some large creature visited me, saying I no longer belonged in this world, and then banished me to another. Honestly, I'm not bothered by it. After all, it was just a dream. Anyway, I better find that lab now. If I'm to prevent this Team Plasma from invading my home region, I need more power."
[break][break]
Journal Log #219[break]
"If you are reading this, then you have shown something I desire. You have the ability to help me change this world; you have my namesake. God's Gift is mysterious. Some consider the gift of understanding, or knowing, and of putting faith - not trust, in another human. I want to understand you. I wish to know you. I have faith that you and I can dethrone the Cobalt Devil and the Crimson Tyrant. I may be able to do this alone but, should I fail, I give you everything and nothing. I give you the ability to craft your own power, to conjure your own fame and to claim your own fortune.
[break][break]
My name is Matthew Aaron McDermott. My name is Faceless. I am the Anomaly of Anrui, and you are now part of my family."
"So you'd like to know about my history, huh? All right. I've grown tired of all this 3rd person shit. I always have trouble with it, and I'm betting you're tired of it as well.

FACECLAIM: hei, darker than black
FACECLAIM: hei, darker than black
If I could call something imperfect "perfect", Faceless would be its name. This character was born September 19th, 2010 on a Kanto-based AU forum called Indigo League: From The Ashes. Prior to that, he was only known by name on the site's previous incarnation. I had to reshape him after numerous failures of finding the right face for him, hence the nickname Faceless.
[break][break]
Originally a member of a Team Rocket co-owned by two men, Matthew was a grunt in title only. He was worthless and pathetic. His original Pokemon were Grimer, Elekid, Mudkip, Combee F, Eevee, and Teddiursa. He had a few others, such as Axew and Larvesta. Only the first 6 had evolved, with Eevee becoming an Umbreon.
[break][break]
During his rebirth, I began to understand him better and he became a part of my thinking process and inner-self. Wherever I go, I want to bring him with me... Anrui helped me. I can't leave her because Matthew's too damn important over there right now. I refuse to let Anrui die either.
