Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

[attr=class, dumbstruck]He should have known better than to try to set out on an adventure all at once. He should have stuck with somewhere boring, Agate Village or something, where he'd be guaranteed to have a few battles that were more his speed. But no, he'd had to go running off without a plan, hoping to fight some Pokemon out in the wilds. It was a completely dumb idea. The middle of the desert was hardly the place to train baby Pokemon, and there hadn't been any wild ones to be found, anyway. And what had he gotten in return? Lost, that's what. He was lost, in the middle of the desert. Things seemed to get a little brighter when he spotted some sort of human structure, but it turned out that it wasn't a city after all, only some sort of... broken train? Ugh.
Which was how Angel found himself huddled in the corner at a run-down bar, feeling rather displeased with life in general. He was nursing a drink now, which should have been a plus, but it had done little to improve his mood. The man behind the bar was... was smirking at him, and he knew he could get directions if he only asked, but he wasn't willing to suffer the indignity. Yet. He wasn't sure how much longer he could hold out. "You sure you don't need anything else, kid?"
Dammit. "No." He huffed, very deliberately not meeting the man's eyes. "I'm... waiting on someone. Yeah." He nearly cringed the moment the words were out of his mouth. Sure, Angel, that made perfect sense. He slumped forward onto the bar, resting an elbow there for half a second before jerking back, pulling a face at the slight layer of grime. Ugh. He rubbed at the new spot on his jacket and steadfastly ignored what he was sure was muffled laughter. No way he was going to dignify that with a proper response. He fussed for a few more seconds, more to kill time than anything, then cast a surreptitious look around the room- what were the odds someone was about to walk through that door and save him? They weren't looking good.

Finally! Alastair pulled August to a stop, some snickers coming from those outside. The snickers didn't last long as some embers were shot in their direction. There was nothing wrong with riding a pony. At least Alastair didn't have to walk! He got off of August and patted her neck, taking her over to a water trough. She drank her fill before Alastair recalled her, honestly surprised the saddle and bridle went with her. It was probably how the pokeball worked. Kinda like when a Pokemon held an item and it went with them into the pokeball. Oh well. Alastair put the pokeball on his hip, completing the set of a current three. He stretched before he went inside. Well, this seemed like a lovely place... said no one ever.
He looked around once he got inside, giving a bright smile to everyone. It made them think he couldn't do any harm. And they would be mostly right. Alastair wouldn't do any harm, but his Pokemon was another story. All he really wanted was some water. So, with a skip in his step, he went up to the counter with his smile still plastered on his face. "May I have a water please?" "Does this look like a watering hole?" Someone mumbled. "No but your face does!" Alastair said cheerfully. "Just a glance of water please," he told the bartender. He glanced to the side while he waited. Oh? Looked like someone else was new to town.
As soon as Alastair got the glass of water, he sat by the purple haired man with a smile. Well, strangers together make two birds of a feather. "Nice day outside, eh?" he asked quietly, nursing the glass of water silently. "Name's Alastair, Alastair Rome. Pleasure to meet you." He gave a bright smile, an honest one this time. Out of everyone this guy seemed like the sort to actually be pleasant. Like they had manners.
[attr=class, dumbstruck]Angel was almost to the bottom of his drink. He stared down at it forlornly, swirling the remaining liquid around the bottom and trying not to look like he was stalling. There wasn't really much else he could do, he might just have to bite the bullet and ask for help- fortunately, another man came sweeping into the establishment before he could do anything drastic. Unfortunately, the stranger seemed just as out of place here as he did. Uh, it was better than nothing? He had to admit to feeling grateful when the man slid into the seat next to him. Well, beggars couldn't be choosers, and at least this Alastair was easy on the eyes. "Mmm, I suppose. My day certainly just got brighter." He gave a bright grin, and couldn't help checking up on the bartender from the corner of his eye. Ha! Take that, he totally wasn't a loser!
He turned his attention back to his new friend, and made a soft thoughtful sound. Alastair might need a bit of an upgrade if he was going to keep up. "I'm Angel, and trust me, the pleasure's all mine." He knocked back the sad remainder of his drink before leaning into the other slightly, trying for casual and probably missing by a mile. "Sure I can't get you something a little stronger than that?" Was it the middle of the day? Yes. Did he care? Not at all. Call it a survival strategy- it would make the pair of them stick out less, at the very least. At the moment they were drawing a truly uncomfortable number of stares. "I'm sure you've had a long day, making it all the way out to... here." Wherever here was. He chuckled to himself, a little more sharply than was probably necessary. Would it seem too desperate if he asked the guy where he was going and just... followed him? He felt like that might look a little desperate.

Oh? "Sorry to hear it was bad to begin with," Alastair said. Well, that's how the man's sentence came off to Alastair. Then again, the two did seem the odd people out here. Alastair wondered by what luck they both ended up at his creepy bar in the middle of no where. At any rate, he was happy he at least had some water before heading back out again. The desert was rather tough. Not compared to that town with the old people at all...
At the question of a stronger drink Alastair shook his head. "No thanks. Last thing I need out in the desert is to have alcohol in my belly" he sighed. Speaking of the desert... he wondered how bad it was going to be at night. He smiled. The stares be damned. He wasn't going to be here long anyway. That and alcohol and heat did not mix. At all.
"I came from... where is it? That town filled with old people by the river. That place," he said. "Took a good five, six hours." He sighed and put the empty glass down. He fished out his wallet and put some bills down to pay for it. "I better leave, actually... I only stopped to get some water. Want to come?" It was more of a 'hey you don't look like you want to be here and I don't want to be here either so let's just leave together cause these guys are creepy', but Alastair still thought he would ask.
He smiled. "If so, I'll be outside getting ready to leave. I think there is room for two if you don't want to walk." With that, he got up and left humming a happy tune. As soon as he got outside, he released August, the Ponyta snorting and shaking her head. She went over to the water trough and pushed someone else's Pokemon out of the way so she could get another fill. Alastair leaned against the weird bar and watched her, waiting for the stranger. Had he ever gotten a name? Nah, but he could always ask.
[attr=class, dumbstruck]Now, it wasn't like Angel actually cared about the flirting. It was a way to pass the time, and as natural as breathing whenever he found himself in a bar. And yet, to have the man just blatantly brush him off like that... He was rather taken aback. What the hell! He was amazing, thank you, how dare he- but it didn't seem like Alastair had meant offense, considering how cheerfully he continued the conversation. Maybe he was just... spectacularly dense? "No, that's... smart, that's smart." He wasn't disappointed, that would be ridiculous. Besides, that left more for him, right? ...and yet suddenly, that no longer seemed like such an excellent idea. He turned his attention back to his companion, pulling a thoughtful face. "Hmm. Pyrite? No, A- er, A-something, I'm pretty sure it starts with an A?" When the man made to leave Angel found himself scrambling, torn between preserving his dignity and getting the hell out of this place.
Alastair's offer had him perking up embarrassingly quickly. "Yes! I mean, ah, if you... if you don't mind. I was planning on getting out of here anyway, I... might as well." Nice save. He stared after the man's retreating form for several moments longer than was probably necessary, before shaking himself out of it and going to pay. The bartender was smirking at him again, and he barely refrained from sticking his tongue out like a child. He contented himself with an offended huff and marched out the door, trying not to look too eager at the thought of a free ride. Did Alastair have a car? Ohh, or a motorcycle, that would be- ...oh. It was a horse. Not even a big horse, like, a little pony. And it was... on fire?
He stopped short, somewhat taken aback. Right. This was why leaving bars with strangers was rarely a good idea. But... He seemed so nice so far, and there was no way he was walking all the way back to civilization. Even so, his approach was reluctant at best. "It's a-" oh, wait, what was it called- "Ponyta, right?" He offered the Pokemon a hand and a hesitant smile, hoping it wouldn't decide to do anything drastic like, you know, set him on fire. "Nice to meet you, my name's Angel." That done, he turned back to the Pokemon's owner. "Thanks for the offer, I have... no idea what I would have done." He glanced back at the bar, not bothering to show his distaste. "That's, ah, not my usual scene. But I'd be happy to treat you to something a little more worthwhile once we're back in civilization." A pause, then: "Speaking of which. Where are we going, again? I mean I'm pretty much down regardless, but..." That wasn't awkward at all.

Not to Alastair's surprise, the man decided to follow. Great! That was company while traveling! August was fine at carrying too, even if it would look silly. She gave the stranger a thoughtful look, sensing his surprise. She stared at him, flicking her fire tail out. She then glanced to Alastair. He seemed fine with the stranger being so close... so then... she stepped forward and sniffed the human's hand. He smelled like Pokemon, like someone that knew how to deal with them. She bumped her nose into his hand and closed her eyes, giving a happy snort. The hands were soft, unlike Alastair's callused ones. She blinked and stomped a hoof, motioning for Alastair to hurry up and decide if they were going. He patted her neck reassuringly. First they had to decide some things. "Angel, eh? That's a pretty name," Alastair said thoughtfully. He listened to the man and gave another bright smile. "Don't worry, its not my scene either. Only reason we even stopped was to grab some water and then head back out." At the idea of getting a reward for kindness, Alastair scratched his chin absentmindedly. "Nah, its fine. I mean, if you would like to grab lunch when we find a more friendly place we can, but I won't make you pay for me. And at any rate, I was planning on heading to Realgam Tower. I hear they have a lot of good places to eat and stores and stuff. Thought it would be fun." He patted August's side. "August here can carry two people anywhere. She's faster than most cars, actually."
She recognized the praise, and snorted. Alastair smiled at scratched her ears. "So if you don't mind sitting on the back of the saddle, we should be able to reach the next town in about... two days with frequent stops? I brought some food and water with me, but hell, gotta stop where you can." He went ahead and mounted August, the pony stomping her hoof. She gave Angel a thoughtful look. "So, coming?" he asked.
