"If they cared for it, they wouldn't have lost it." @bianca The bag was lost, like everyone else in the city, It was a garish pink bag, with lotus flowers decorating the straps and a large sticker of a Ponyta─that obviously did not belong─on the front.
Finn could guess at once some little girl had lost it, or perhaps it was an elderly lady with an inner child.
He knew it was lost, because it had laid abandoned on a bench, with no playing children or fussing mothers in sight. Plainly, then, someone had forgotten her bag.
Shuppet landed on his hand, curiously eyeing the bag.
"Bringing it back is a chore," he said, guessing at Shuppet's meaning. "If they cared for it, they wouldn't have lost it," Finn added.
Shuppet made a dissatisfied noise.

"Or perhaps they had an emergency and didn't have the time to check for the bag." [break][break] Bianca had been drifting through the area and couldn't help stopping to comment when she overhead such a remark. "Things like that happen all the time. You should take it by the Mayor's house in case the owner goes looking for it." She gave the boy a look a bit like a scolding mother, one hand on her hip even, stack of papers in the other. [break][break] Judging by the looks of the bag it belonged to a little girl, or perhaps a little boy with adventurous tastes, either way someone was bound to go looking for it. Anyone could easily take it to the Mayor's around here. [break]

"Choices are what defines us in this world." @bianca Where there was trouble... well, there was always trouble. Bound to be people who would complain. Finn'd found that a lot of people in the world liked to complain, especially when they could do so from a high Ponyta.
It was as much a truth of the world as that love and hate followed one another as two brothers out on a date.
"Finders keepers," Finn said, shooting a glare at the bossy woman. Carrying her papers around like some self-important prick. Obviously.
"Suppose there was an emergency, and the bag was forgot," Finn continued. "They had a choice to bring the bag, either way, and they chose to prioritise something else.
"Choices are what define us in this world, and the ex-owner of this bag clearly chose not in favour of the bag."
His choice not to act in the name of the 'greater good' would likely define him in the eyes of others as a jerk. Yet, it was absurd that one's individuality should be decided by common majority. As if society could impress itself upon an individual?
It was ever hard to be unique in a world that strove to ensure everyone was the same, and Finn did not want to take any part in that unjust and futile world.
"What's it to you, anyway?"

"Well aren't you just a ball of sunshine on a summer morning." whoops, there slipped that attitude of her's again. Then again this situation seemed to call for a little bit of it anyway. [break][break] "You're not wrong, choices define us, but I wouldn't call leaving a bag behind a character defining choice. It's likely an accident, which everyone does." at this point her brows were furrowed with mild annoyance. "Besides, what use would a little girl's bad be to you? returning it is the right things to do." [break][break] Now she had both hands on her hips even though it meant crumpling her papers a bit. Some things trumped prim and proper looks in the hopes of recognition from people that didn't even give her the time of day, this was one of those things. [break]

"since you care so much." @bianca Finn had been called so many things so often, he didn't care anymore. The list of people just grew a little longer, is all.
A bit frustrated none the less, Finn ruffled his hair.
"The 'right' thing, sure. For you, maybe." Finn had to admit most people'd think it the right thing to return lost items. Well, they'd say it's the right thing.
Whether people actually returned bags they found was a wholly different question, and Finn was wont to assume they wouldn't. People loved themselves the most, after all.
"You go find whoever this bag belongs to, I'll give it to 'em," Finn said, growing annoyed with the woman's meddling. "Since you care so much."

"The city's a bit too big for that, that's why I suggested you take it too the mayor's house." Bianca sighed. This kid was proving to be a tough one, seeing as even a simple task like this was meeting such protest. [break][break] She couldn't help but wonder why he was so adamant against returning the bag. If he needed one himself surely he could find one unused and knew rather than one that belonged to someone else. [break][break] "If you don't know where the Mayor's is or something I'll take it there, it's not that far from where I'm going anyway." At this point she had a hand out waiting to see if he'd hand over the bag or not. [break]

"Quote from post." @bianca // Ditto. Finn noted her outheld hand. He did not consider for even a moment handing over the bag he'd found.
"Lead the way," Finn said.
There was something about the woman that was all at once annoying and admirable. That last bit surprised Finn. He hadn't expected to find something admirable in this woman, but there was something about her stark defiance of proper sense and insistence on an absurd morality that made Finn think she was somewhat 'cool'.
The young man shook his head to dispel any such thoughts from his mind. She was nothing more than a haggardly lady, intent on barraging him with complaints and misgivings and misunderstandings.
"You sure are nosy."

"Maybe you shouldn't have given me a reason to be so nosy." whoops, there went her attitude again. She usually kept it in check but it slipped every once in awhile. Bianca sighed, turned and motioned for him to follow her. "it's this way." [break][break] She looked back over her shoulder as she started walking, just to be sure he was going to follow her. With how adamant he'd been about not returning it she half expected him to book it. She didn't feel like chasing someone down today. She liked to think the kid would follow her though, at least part way and if he didn't make it to the mayor's hopefully he'd at least give the bag to her after all. [break]

"Quote from post." @bianca The lady had all the grace and elegance of a warthog. Finn imagined she probably led a very sheltered life among people who'd all guard her from the harshness of reality.
Shuppet was having none of that, though, and spun about on Finn's head, ruffling his hair this way and that.
Finn considered batting her off his head, but the thought soon dispersed.
"Well, I think nosy's something you are, at your core," he said. He did not continue, but began whistling a tune instead. The mood to argue had passed suddenly, like many moods for argument passed.

At least he was following her, she preferred that over chasing him down. [break][break] "Yes a nosy do-gooder, right?" she had a feeling that was where the conversation was headed. He wouldn't have been the first one to tell her that, Bianca was pretty used to it. Luckily, she didn't mind. It was satisfactory to her. [break][break] Bianca shook her head before she asked "So what's your name anyway?" might as well make chit chat while they were on their way, well if he'd go along with it at least. [break]
