Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

Any of the coliseums didn't really seem fit for a scientist, especially one who had better things to do than flit around and act like some big shot battler. Sadly Fabrizia found herself just at one of these places. She didn't really enjoy battling and the idea of going up to five trainers in a row wasn't fun. However, the blue haired woman also knew that if she were to do her field work and not worry about her pokemon as much, she would also need to level them up. Right now her team was weak, with two pokemon not really being able to attack and one limited to just one move. At least she thought she could rely on Flicker. After getting the charmander healed, she found that while it was small and a bit timid, it was very reliable.
Still, this seemed as good a way as any to train. It was a relatively consequence free environment, where if Fabrizia lost she wouldn't be forced to hand over her precious little money. There was also the upside of maybe being able to earn a few of the points this place used for practically free items later. Honestly, there just didn't seem to be a downside. She would be ready to go out and blaze through her field studies in no time if she kept coming to this place. Fabrizia just knew it.
The infrastructure was crumbling, but looked solid. This is what was on Fabrizia's mind as she moved through the pillars and onto the battlefield. Signups had been quick and easy since she had this idea. The times to wait were short, too. She glanced up at the stands and found that while a few people milled about, it looked like people with nothing better to do that watch rookies fight or the rookies themselves talking among each other as they waited their turn. That meant not many people there to watch her (no doubt) spectacular failure.
"I'm here for my challenge." Calling out, Fabrizia stepped into the challenger's circle. Her voice was tinged with more confidence than she felt. Putting on a show to act like you knew more than you did was usually a good intimidation tactic. She hoped.
blood on your knees, but did it ever make you happy?

"Loud and clear." A young man stepped from the sidelines, where Fabrizia had not seem him before. He called out two pokemon and didn't say much else. He looked kind of bored. If he worked here, then he must have seen battled day in and day out from rookie Trainers who probably didn't even understand type advantage. Fabrizia hoped she could at least make it past him. The pokemon he called out was a Chansey and Electrike. Both pokemon were very worrisome for her team. Chansey were tanky and able to take a beating, plus they could heal like the dickens. Electrike were quick and usually caused status ailments with their electric moves. This wouldn't be easy on her.
"Shift, Chance, go!" Fab called out her own choices of pokemon, her Abra and Ditto. The pair looked mildly confused before surveying their opponents on the battlefield. Shift was the most reliable choice she had right now. It could change shape with Transform and it was Limber enough to avoid getting paralyzed. Chance wouldn't be able to deal damage in a traditional sense, but was quick and could use his Teleport to his advantage. Even if she was the challenger, the rules of this place meant that she got the first move. It took her a moment, but finally she took a breath and called out her first moves. "Shift, Transform into the Chansey! Chance, Teleport above the Electrike!" Her pokemon sprung into action. All it took was a moment for Shift to turn into a near perfect copy of the Chansey, and Chance did as he was told. He hung high in the air and waited. But, its not like her opponent was going to stand there and take it.
"Hansel, Howl and go for the Tackle on that Ditto! Gretal, use Pound on the Ditto!" The Chansey lunged forward with surprising speed and walloped Shift before it could step out of the way. While it did this, the Electrike took on a fighting stance and howled loudly, pumping itself up, and then shot forward at Shift. This time, Shift was able to see it coming, and managed to flop out of the way just in time.
"Shift, use Double Edge on the Chansey! Wear it down! Chance, Teleport to the Electrike and try to grab it! Teleport it to the other side of the field!" Fabrizia knew she would be screwed if both of the those pokemon ganged up on Shift. It was a dangerous tactic for Chance, but she knew she needed to keep the Electrike out of the way for now. The Chansey was a bigger threat and needed to be dealt with first. Chance did as he was told, and Teleported above the Electrike. He grabbed it's tail and then blipped off, on the other side of the arena and away from the action. The Electrike yelped and seemed confused, but still snapped at Chance when it was let loose. While this happened, Shift dug its newfound feet into the ground and kicked up dust as it headed full force for the Chansey. It barreled it over, taking a hit of its own as they went down. At least it could be confident that it did more to the Chansey than to itself.
"Sneaky! Hansel, try to use Thunder Wave on the Abra! Gretal, try another Pound and then use Defense Curl!" Fabrizia saw what he was doing. A Thunder Wave would limit Chance's mobility, which meant that Electrike could get back to trying to tackle Shift with less issues. At least Chance had the foresight to dodge the move... but then, Fabrizia had the idea that maybe she could work this to her advantage. It would have to wait, but she could. With the Chansey, it seemed more straight forward. It managed to strike Shift while it was down, then bounced back and curled up into a tight ball.
"Chance, keep track of Shift! Shift, use Double Edge and then Defense Curl!" Chance didn't make any moves, but did as he was told. He kept track of where Shift was at on the battlefield. Shift moved and slammed its fist down hard on the still curled up ball of Chansey and then moved to curl up itself. The two matched perfectly, and anyone who hadn't been paying attention wouldn't be able to tell them apart. The Electrike used this opportunity to get back in range of attack on Shift. It hesitated, looking between the two curled up pink pokemon.
"Hansel, use Thunder Wave on the Ditto! Gretal, use Double Edge on the Dit-"
"Chance, grab Shift and Teleport out of the way!" The Electrike had already started to unleash a Thunder Wave, but Chance grabbed Shift and got out of dodge. Since they had been so close together, the attack instead his the Chansey and paralyzed it. The Chansey cried out and tried to move, but wasn't able to fight through its rigid muscles and do much of anything, let alone attack. "Shift, Double Edge the Electrike! Hit it hard!" Shift took a running go from its new found position on the field and slammed as hard as it could into the stunned Electrike. Taken completely by surprise, the electric pokemon wasn't able to brace for impact and was hurled into the air for a moment before skidding to a halt on the ground, unconscious. Fabrizia hadn't expect the move to knock it out, but there must have been more to that punch than she expected. She was pleased. That meant now all they had to do was work down the Chansey.
"Challenger!" The young man held up his hand. "You've bested my pokemon, and I don't think that even my conscious one will be able to continue fighting! I concede defeat! Get ready for your nest opponent!" The young man called both of his pokemon back into their balls. He cradeled them lovingly for a moment before going back to the sidelines and slinking off somewhere she couldn't see. Probably to get his Pokemon healed. Fabrizia sighed and called her own two back. She was pleased that she had managed to win, but was also anxious about the next pokemon she would have to face.
