Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

Things had drastically changed since the first Cipher had made their mark on the region of Orre, and this was the left legacy of the great empire. A run down lair that hadn't been ran in quite a long time, at least as far as people knew. Hardly anyone could get out here and only cipher had given the technology to reach the volcano on this island. It was a smart move all that time ago and it was a smart move now, and people couldn't stop what they couldn't see. Not that many of the residents in this place believed the tale anyway. Archer had arrived a few weeks prior and instead of flaunting around his power like most of the people he had met, he preferred to spend his time in the library they had on site, digging into old lore of the region.
There was still plenty of information here that hadn't been destroyed by the first conquest of cipher. If there was one thing an intellect knew, it was to learn the mistakes of the past to make sure that they weren't made again. So the grunt had buried himself here with only small breaks to relief himself, eat, sleep and take care of his pokemon. Otherwise the man had a book jammed in his nose, not that he didn't normally, and he didn't really care what the other grunts thought. They could have as much brawn as they wanted but if they were to win this war they would have to do it with intelligence and cunning not brute strength. The entire group had been brought down by brute strength last time and they couldn't rely on it this time, so as all the reinforcements were gathered Archer was busying himself with the only plans he found useful to Cipher.
Maybe just maybe he could find someone who would agree with him, cause he'd rather not be one of the ones that made the same mistakes as the last conquest. Archer would be damned if he was part of a group that couldn't learn from its mistakes.

Boredom, boredom, boredom, boredom, boredom. [break][break] Endric was getting tired of this. Of sitting around and doing nothing, but he was also growing tired of wondering through the region with his Roselia in hopes that something would manage to entertain him. Little had. Most things had turned out to be a waste of his time. That's what led him here. Boredom. [break][break] The man was barely even interested in the books. He'd seen plenty since his childhood, read them front to back then once again, memorized, tested, studied, he was far more intelligent than some would give him credit for. Then again he'd been bred and groomed for such things in a way most couldn't comprehend. He often found even others of the upper class never quite understood the lengths the Ruhan family went to. They tended to hold themselves in a completely different league. [break][break] That was why he was in the region to begin with though wasn't it? Indeed but that was a story for another day. [break][break] Endric was already glaring at the shelf, he'd seen every book on it already. He moved on to the next one, little else of interest. nothing he could live without. Man sitting around readying? Mildly intelligent grunt, Endric doubted he could hold an actual conversation. Was probably reading the book wondering what half the words even meant. [break][break] Worthless, worthless, worthless, barely any of it was of interest until he stumbled upon the ransacked shelf that held the region lore. It was the only thing that wasn't easy to find in the other regions. Most seemed to sweep the region under the rug. Not a surprise, they were clean, sanitized compared to this region. [break][break] Endric went looking for the books that belonged to the shelf that just so happened to be near the grunt he had overlooked before. He stood there staring at him with a grimace. The last thing he wanted to bother doing was speaking to another one of them today. Endric rubbed the back of his neck while he debated if this was even worth the time after all. [break] Archer Velm
Archer half noticed that another one had entered the library, one that hadn't been of the few he had noticed. Green locks where the first thing that trailed across blood stained hues, and it caught his attention alright. The color itself was enough to, but something else about this one made him look past his looks, the way he held himself made it feel like he was like him. No, this one held himself even higher than even Archer's family, or rather adopted family. That made him curious, generally he read up on everyone but this one was a bit of a mystery to him and that made him even more interested but it seemed the other wasn't that interested in him.
That didn't really bother him, considering he was trying to pay attention to the books but he couldn't really do so with the other in the room. It was like he commanded attention from the very way he walked and the presence he commanded in the room. Part of his socialite training made him want to get out and almost bow to the other as if he was among royalty but he forced himself to stay still but what he couldn't resist was keeping his head lower than the other, at least some type of respect. When he noticed that the other was in the section that he had rummaged through and left a little messy, he almost felt bad that he had done so and before he could stop himself he felt his feet lift him off the ground as his hand shut the book he had been shuffling through.
"Ah, sorry I kinda left it a mess." he said softly before slowly taking a few steps but stopping short only as if asking his permission to get closer before quickly moving anyway stretching out his hand and offering the book. "I've probably read these a dozen times if you wanted it. " Archer said his red hues finally connecting with the hues of this man. "Forgive me for asking, but ... you're from a high family are you not, I can tell. I was raised as a socialite myself, and it's just the air about you when you came in." he said trying to show respect without seeming like he had no backbone. "It's nice to know not all the grunts around this place have no minds."

Ah, yes, just his luck, someone recognized him. Or at least the sort of person he was. He had hoped the people of this region would not catch on to such things and he would be able to pass by unnoticed. Or rather, only being noticed in the manner he wanted to be. Endric let out a sigh. He should have known better, of course there would be people who would notice some thing. Especially with what Cipher was doing in order to acquire more people and bolster its ranks. [break][break] Endric took the book with a would be smile, putting on the mask as he always did. He wasn't about to let such things drop when he had found someone who was probably just as familiar with the game as he was. Well not quite as familiar, no one was as familiar as he. He tucked the book under his arm and looked down at the rest of the books, mildly ignoring the other person. He'd answer once he stopped talking of course but not till then. [break][break] "Yes I am." a simply answer, no explanation as he felt none was needed in this case. He preferred not dealing with that sort of a conversation right now. While the other kept speaking he moved around him to go look through the other books sitting around, he was interested in many not one. "Not all but most still do." One didn't usually make up for many. [break][break] "If you don't mind, are you responsible for all the others that are missing?" He looked back at the guy, trying not to give a damn about the whole socialite thing. He was just here for books. [break] Archer Velm
Coming here Archer knew that some part of him would always follow behind that of his family that had taken him in. He owed them something unlike the man in front of him, they had taken him out of nothing and he had never needed for anything in his life after that. Many would say he was lucky, that he would live a life that many wouldn't ever be able, but also in a way it was like a cage. The life of a socialite could be many things, and as the only son in his family he would be eventually expected to come back and run the family. That was the reason they had taken him in the first place, so that he would run the family that they couldn't do on their own. So now he got his chance at freedom becoming a high part of cipher, thats what they wanted, but he wasn't quite sure what he wanted in all this.
This man seemed to be someone like him, he had already noticed that but it was something much bigger than him. This man was the entire universe and he demanded the attention of everyone in his wake. Something that Archer knew he would never be able to do, even if he wanted to please his family, this man would be something he could never overpass. Instead, it was a interesting thought that perhaps Archer would find out what he wanted in Cipher, and where he was going from here. This man would be someone he could follow, someone he could put his trust in, but first he had to become part of the inner circle and that meant a number of things. First was finding out how the other worked and he had to find out fast.
Archer listened quietly as he spoke answering his questions with little details, but that was enough for him. He didn't need to know where he was from or what family he was a part of simply that he was one. It spoke for itself from the game they both played many times as the other took the book from him that he had offered. Archer could tell the face he put on was not a real one but he dare not call him out on it, for he guessed that the other already knew that he knew these games as well if not as much as Endric. Instead archer voted to stay quiet now listening to what the other had to say about his questions and about the group of Cipher that had been brought in.
He had a point, but Archer expected no less.. and part of him wondered if he was as much as a book fan as Archer himself. He could always be found with a book in his hand trying to learn more about the world around him. Books could offer so much and few hardly took a care in them for the valuable information they held within their pages. Archer noticed as the other walked around him and to the books that were still on the desk where he was working a few still opened to the pages he was reviewing and taking notes in. A few he had already taken earlier for a few more transitions trying to understand Orre to its finest. Learning things to the T here would make it a lot easier to understand how to steal it in the way the group expected them to.
"Yes, " he said as the other looked back at him after he had been looking at the books on his desk. "Most of them are there flipped to pages I was taking notes on. I admit there are a few more that are in my room that I wanted to research a bit more on. " he said quietly moving back to where his seat was moving past the other once more. Moving a finger down his page he quickly picked up his pen scribbling more neat handwriting down on the notes he had brought. "This region has a lot more history than I thought it had, most of it's records on Cipher and the past were actually pretty hard to dig up. When I was doing my research I found some books trailed off where other's picked up so it was more like putting a puzzle together. You need pretty much all of them to figure it out."
He finished what he was writing before closing the one he had on top and gathering the other few he was finished with stacking them on top of one another and scooting them closer to the other who had asked for them. "The others I haven't been able to figure out yet, but there is something about an old relic in Agate that has my interest, and about a few legendaries that seemed to have appeared more than once in this region. I also found an old diary of a kid that states they met them more than once. That one is pretty old, like it was almost burned a couple of times. To be honest it's taking me longer to go through it than I thought."
Finally looking back at Endric he sighed a bit and rubbed his temples. "Sorry for the lecture, not many people like to hear it so I tend to ramble a bit. "
lavish mansions[break]vintage wines[break]i'm so much more[break]than royal
In all honesty Endric barely even listened to what the other man said. He wasn't really interesting in the senseless chatter this one seemed so determined to put forth. Any other day he would have listened better and tried harder for conversation but the reason he enjoyed books was specifically to avoid people. He wasn't here in hopes of chatter or to foster 'friendships' or create connections. He was there to find a book to read and return to his room. He only read when all else had grown so mindless and boring that he needed to walk away for a bit, and only because his other hobby needed time to cool down. [break][break] Inwardly he scowled at all this. This situation. It felt so... unneeded. He just wanted his books damnit. But he also couldn't afford to let the shell drop. It was for that reason he bothered to reply to any degree. "No bother." he wanted to play off the little ramble like it wasn't a problem even if it was. His face did not betray him though, as far as any one would know he thought nothing of it as he stared down at the stack of books that had been pushed towards him. He picked up the top book and turned it over in his hand as he continued to speak. [break][break] "It should come to no surprise they have plenty of history." The man did nothing to hide he was not a native of the region, just as the other hadn't. It seemed like it meant little at this point anyway. "The region may be dead to everyone else but they are not dead to themselves. Certainly there would be something here." he made no effort to comment on any of the specifics the other had mentioned as he picked up the second book and look it over. [break][break] "Though I will agree, they do not seem to be quite so organized" As he made the final comment Endric looked but up at the other before stacking the books back up and sticking them under his arm. "You seem to be going to a great amount of effort to work around that." while his tone was that of great interest he was uncertain how much longer he wished to stand there speaking. He'd see how much the other would talk this time around and deal with it that way. He'd sound interested in him enough for now. [break] Archer Velm if archer does this again the thread will never be finished because endric is sitting here like no, fuck this, no.
Archer didn't know how exactly to feel about this man. There was the obvious feeling that this guy was much higher than him but at the same time he found himself rambling more than he really should have. Maybe it was for the sheer fact that he couldn't help but feel happy that someone else was using the library for its actual books rather than hiding in it for a quick nap. Perhaps that little voice in his head was right that he had gone too far talking about something that the other didn't really seem that interested in. While he kept the face that he was interested a part of him wondered if that was the real man that he had met.
Archer found himself quiet as he listened to the other speak once he had finished his small rant about what he was doing. The other gave him very little back after all that talking, which also clued him in that perhaps he didn't really want to hear what Archer was saying. "You'd think, but it's like they don't care about their history. Some of the books I found seem like a lot of them have been scribbled in that its lies.. it's a bit disheartening." he said, not that he cared about the people but more about the book that was tarnished because people didn't believe it. Where people really that petty to think shadow pokemon didn't exist? Because were they in for a rude awakening when Cipher actually finally made its move now that more people were showing up.
"I think it's because some people were afraid of talking about things... since so much anger happened to some of the other books. Either way it's been more of a hassle than it's worth considering none of us really know what this new boss wants." he said with a sigh closing the book he was working on. The next question from the other made him look up whoever and match the eyes of the other. " ....Well, if someone doesn't how will we ever hope to take this region? I'm sure someone needs to know the real information about Shadow Pokemon and how we controlled them before." he said with a slight shrug. Part of it was also that Archer wanted to know himself the real reason the first Cipher fell, best not to repeat the same mistakes of the past after all.
"I'm really not inclined to follow a leader who does the same thing twice." he commented absently as he sat back in his chair some rubbing his forehead trying to process all the information that he had absorbed from the books and from this man.

Endric was honestly baffled at the narrow mindedness of this man. He seemed to think only in terms that applied to him and his view of this world. That little pedestal their kind sat upon so nice and pretty, forgetting the plight of those below them and how they were. Endric forgot no such thing, not because he had ever experienced it himself but rather because it was the only way to truly appeal to their kind, to know their place as well as your own. [break][break] "Or perhaps they were a little too busy fighting for their lives for it to matter that much." Endric leaned forward, placing a hand on either side of the stack of books now on the table as he looked the other in the eye. "If you'd payed even a smidgen of attention to this region you'd notice they aren't as safe as the rest are, they're a little too busy trying to survive." he narrowed his eyes, it wasn't often he showed any sign of annoyance but this comment had greatly annoyed him. The guy had been so quick to comment and ramble on and then he feeds him that shit? He was underwhelming at best. [break][break] "Every recounting of their history shows this place to be lawless, the lawless don't have time for documentation and worrying about the future knowing what occurred they're too busy with now." he fully understood why their history was so fragmented, unlike the other regions they had not had the luxury of looking into such things. They had what they had and they made due with it, those that needed it at least. He doubted their general populace kept track that much. It was only recently they had begun to advance to a state of peace that compared to the other regions. To look at them the same as one would look at the other regions was idiocy at its finest. [break][break] He stood up straight again and sighed, picking up the books to be fit under his arm in the hopes of leaving before too much longer, though he had a feeling there may be more talking ahead of him from this one. "I wouldn't expect anymore on Cipher's past than I would the rest of the region." [break] Archer Velm archer pls endric just wants you to calm your tits.
Archer honestly didn't expect what came next. Instead of trying to level with the other it seemed that he was called out on what he had said. It wasn't the first time he had been called out on something but the way it was done startled the other to the point that he quietly accepted it and listened as the other talked about how this kind of region didn't have time to actually sit down and keep records of their history which perhaps he should have thought of it a bit better but still... it was a surprise that such hostility came back from the other in this kind of way.
Archer was quiet for the entire time as the other spoke contradicting him for the research he had done so far and perhaps he should have thought of all the angles. It took a moment before the man finally let out a sigh before closing his hues and slowly reopening facing up to the crimes he had been called out on. "You are right, I didn't think of it that way. I just guess it was because of the way I was raised that I thought the way I did." was all he commented. "So I apologize for my outburst the way I said it." he said looking at him.
A small frown crossed the cipher's face at the answer to his question about Cipher and about the history of the group repeating itself. "What do you think about all this. The fact that even we as members don't even know who the boss is other than a few notes and superiors telling us his plans. If it even is a he." Archer wasn't too thrilled they knew nothing about this man or what his real goals were at this point, and perhaps that was what was driving him crazy.

Endric made no comment on the apology, neither accepting nor denying it. He would note that at least when confronted with the other angle the man was willing to listen to reason and adapt but the fact he hadn't had a mind open enough to think it to begin with was also a problem. He'd make note of both, just in case. It was good to know the pros as well as the cons and he doubted this would be the last he would see of this one. [break][break] "If you have so much of an issue with it why not take it up with the boss himself? Send him a letter back." he might have sounded a little bit too much like a smart ass with that one but he had a sour taste in his mouth at the moment. Luckily for the other guy it wasn't only at what he'd said. [break][break] The boss was an interesting topic to bring up, Endric actually had plenty to say on the matter but he wasn't stupid enough to bring it up in actual conversation. No he wouldn't do such a thing. Never knew which one was so loyal to current establishment they might cause trouble for someone like him. Right now it was in his favor to play as though he approved wholeheartedly with this person's wishes and goals. Games, one big game, just like always. [break][break] He would play a perfect game. [break][break] "Worry too much and you'll simply cause yourself more trouble that it was worth." The look he gave made it clear to drop that subject after that, he would nto be saying anything further. [break] Archer Velm
