Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

Archer was here on business, business that he knew he had to deal with so there was no point to think otherwise about going to a horrible little stand that sold less than mediocre things. Still a job was a job and he had no intention on letting any part of the plan to fall to waste, right now it was his job to spread rumors, small little ones that would blossom into much much worse. it was like a huge game of telephone watching the message change as it passed to different people, instead he found that watching the live of these people was a little more than hopeless. He expected somewhat what he would see here but the people definitely made it worse, they were a bunch of bumpkins. A bunch of country bumkins with one or two guests that were probably travelers.
The grunt could hardly stand this place, but he made do with concentrating on something else, sitting at a small booth by himself near the back he had his eevee in his lap stroking her head gently with his fingers. She had since fallen asleep but there wasn't a need to stop the rhythm of his hands as they moved through soft fur. The fur making the man a little blurry himself considering that he had been here way longer than he had hoped he would be. Exactly how long does it take for a rumor to catch on? the grunt thought to himself. He could only hope someone that really liked stories would show up soon to make this lie catch like wildfire and spread as fast and as strong as he wanted it to be.
Well now this brought back some memories. Al dismounted the Ponyta and patted her neck before recalling her into her pokeball. He gave the place a look. He... didn't like this place for obvious reasons. But at least he wasn't along. Baroque had followed in the sky. Alastair figured the Skarmory would want to stretch her wings. She landed behind him after a few moments and gave him a look before looking around the desert. Yeah, it was rather hot and dry out here. Alastair patted her neck and went inside, the bird following. Baroque did not like her pokeball when she could be out and about. She was still wild at heart, but even she had standards. She walked in a strict fashion, looking stiff and rigid, but beautiful and elegant. Like the Roccoco era. Yet in battle she was disciplined. She did as told without a hint of hesitation. She was a good Pokemon.
The Skarmory spread her wings slightly, her green feathers showing off her lightly rustic body. She hissed at some of the people in there, sticking close to Alastair. The human sat down at the bar, the Skarmory behind him. "Let me guess," said the familiar bartender. "Water?" "And something for her," Alastair said, motioning to Baroque. The Skarmory gave another hiss. The bartender got Alastair a glass of cold water, and put a bowl of water down on the counter. Baroque sniffed at it before taking several large gulps, shaking her metal-plated body free of the sand and dirt in the process.
With a sigh, Alastair fished through his backpack for his journal and plopped it down. There had to be something in this desert other than that ship. While the history behind it was fine, it didn't offer him a lot of information. He would take anything at this point. He had to have something to follow. Alastair looked at Baroque who had finished her water, and was now standing there, idly looking around at every noise.
"Boop," he said, poking her cheek with the eraser of his pencil. She looked at him and gave a low cooing noise and tilted her head to the side. "Bop." He tapped the pencil on the top of her head. Baroque reared her head back and stepped away, giving him the look of a disappointed mother.
It seemed like he hadn't been waiting long, as it seemed a blonde had walked into the outskirts stand. At first Archer didn't think he would be anyone to notice so he simply looked back out the window to the left. At least for a bit as he was close enough to actually hear the conversation that was going on at the bar where the newcomer had sat down. Who ordered a water at a bar, was the first thought that crossed the Cipher's mind as he glanced back up at alastair who was playing with the bartender and the skarmory that he had brought in. It was shiny, the cipher could tell instantly, and instead he waited for a moment before a small smirk crossed his face, sometimes idiots were the best for these things.
So he gently picked up his eevee which made a slight sound in protest before moving to sit next to Al, putting on a smile for the other. "Hello, I couldn't help but notice your skarmory. It's really pretty." he said keeping a light tone to his voice and a smile. "Would you tell me about it? I've never really seen a shiny before... well.. I have but not a skarmory." This was almost too easy, or rather it was a bit boring because it was easy. He could only hope that this guy would spread the rumor he had for him fast so he could go home and get back to his precious time with his eevee. That was the real point here... get the job done, go home, report it.. then go back to the real matter at hand.
His hand still stroked the eevee gently as he held her curled up in his arm.

Some amount of words for Archer Velm So sorry this is short ;^;
Baroque did not approve. She gave the stranger a harsh look and spread her wings slightly, moving closer to Alastair that before. She had been told by the other members of the team that Alastair was a lost cause. He couldn't tell danger when it stared him in the face. One Pokemon had to be with him at all times. That was the team rule. A rule he never agreed to, but a rule none the less. There was just something about this guy too. This stranger. The Eevee seemed alright, but Baroque was not digging that hair style.
Alastair ignored Baroque. He had come to terms with the fact that his Pokemon are just plain weird. "Well I found her wandering around a shoe store," Alastair said, sipping his water. "Thanks though." he pointed to the Eevee. "What's her name?" Honestly Alastair was interested in stranger's Pokemon than his own. Baroque folded her wings back and gave the stranger a death glare before going back to her bowl of water. She kept an eye on the stranger, however, still glaring daggers. Alastair patted her head with one of his knuckles, telling her to be nice.
"Oh, my name is Alastair, by the way," he said, deciding to introduce himself. Sometimes he would go full conversations without even introducing himself. It was rather rude. "What are you doing out here? No offense but you don't look like you belong in a place like this," said the guy who got a glass of water in a bar.
Archer could almost feel the unapproving attitude that came from the bird. Archer hardly cared however, considering there was only one reason he was here and it was because the idiot looked like a good place to start. All Archer had to do was play nice guy for a very short time and hope the other wouldn't cause any problems or find out just who he was. Instead Archer kept all smiles and just waited for the other to do the work for him and in no time Aliaster was calming the bird much like Archer had thought he would and for now the bird seemed to ignore him. Archer really didn't want to do anything with it anyway considering the didn't want or need another shiny creature in his party.
This guy.. was he serious? A shoe store.. how odd that must have been. "That's quite the story." he said his hand absently moving through the fur of his eevee as he listened the pokemon nestled into his lap and sleeping once more. If only idiots like these came around more often, they were fun to bother considering they were mostly naive. "No biggie, It's nice to give other pokemon trainers a pat on the back right?" he said putting on a quick smile like the ones he used in all his years as a socialite. It was easy to do it now almost like it was easy for Endric to do it as well. Archer blinked however when the blonde seemed to turn the eevee in his lap, the small fox like pokemon yawning in the meantime as she was being stroked.
"It's kinda strange, but I've never been really good with nicknames, so I don't give my pokemon any names" he said with a soft laugh rubbing behind his neck. Ugh playing so much nice guy made him sick, Archer could only wait to get out of this hell hole and scrub his mouth with maybe two or three mouthwashes. It would take a while to get the taste out of his mouth, but when you had a job you had to get to it after all. This was his job and he wasn't going to go home until it was done and he could return with a mission complete. As much as Archer hated this place he was loyal, insanely so, and he would stick around as long as needed to make sure his job was done to its fullest.
"She's really precious to me, so she's normally always in my arms and never is in her pokeball. Maybe I'm too soft on her." he finished. Maybe this was the only thing that was actually true.. he did love his eevee more than he would ever admit to anyone she was one of the only things that made him happy anymore. He wanted to do his best, but his family and cipher were now all in the balance of a life he never should have had in the first place. The blondes next words sunk deeper than the socialite expected them too, because in the real world he did belong here. It was only by luck and a need for an heir that made him different than anyone else here.
Yet it still had happened and he still turned up his nose to the people that could have been his family and in the same situation as him at this very moment. "Passing through, and non taken." he said holding up the hand that had been stroking his eevee. Eevee made a sound of distress that he had dared stop petting her and after a moment he slowly started the petting movements again upon her soft fur. "I was here because I heard some rumors that were unsettling, and I was hoping to get more information about it." he said with a frown looking down to show a bit of distress. This was going almost too perfect if he said so himself, all Archer had to now was pull the blonde into his web of lies and soon his mission would be over.
He could only hope that this blonde was as stupid as he looked.
Alastair shrugged and sipped at his water. He supposed so. He was really just in here to get a sip of water before he went back to work. Er, exploring, work, same thing. he still had his "job" which was getting paid to discover new things, go present it at a conference, then get paid to get back out there. Thankfully, his current employer was interested in the same thing Alastair was. That made the research a lot more fun.
The other man talking about his Eevee made Alastair smile a bit. It was nice to hear people talk about their Pokemon. If they were bonded, maybe they could give Alastair some data. The more data he had the better his personal research would be. After all, when trying to study the bond between people and Pokemon, the more subjects the better. Alastair would avoid asking for now. They did just meet. "No such thing as being too soft on a Pokemon," Alastair said. "Being too hard on them just results in a lot of problems down the line." He preferred treating his Pokemon like they were his family. Out of anyone and anything in the world, Alastair's Pokemon were the only things he actually felt connected to. He just didn't get along with people very well for too long. Pokemon, however, were different.
The mention of rumors caught Alastair's attention. "Funny," he said, "I'm actually looking for some rumors to follow. So if you have any I would love to hear them." Then he would leave to go find out if they were true. After all, why else spend time around a place like this? Most of the time one could find stories here. The only question was how legit were they? Alastair didn't want to go running into the desert for no reason.
Baroque gave the stranger a level look. She sensed something was off with that look. She pecked Alastair's hand gently. He raised an eyebrow at her. Oh, come on, he wasn't stupid. Someone that looked like they belonged at a fantasy Renaissance festival could not be trusted, but Alastair was good at keeping his face. He needed information, anything he could follow. His client was getting impatient with that paper to prove his friends wrong.

Honestly Archer wanted nothing more than to get out of this place and go home, even if that meant going home to babysit Cass once more. This man wasn't completely boring however and after a moment or two the other seemed to comment on his treatment of his eevee. At the comments the pokemon's ears twitched slightly knowing she was being talked about as Archer just continued to stroke the soft fur of the pokemon. "It is nice to have a bond with your pokemon, they of anyone won't ever betray you." he said absently. Perhaps he was indulging the other too much but he did have a point, and that was something he would agree with. "Sometimes humanity isn't worth trusting in these days, you don't really know who is friend and who is fraud anymore." Oh how true that statement was considering the very reason he was here right now, this guy... he wasn't bad and Archer had no plans of hurting him.. he was just here to do his job and leave.
The next comment from the other made this sound easier than Archer had originally expected. It wasn't like he was lying to the others it was just rumors that he was told to put out, and that was something he was going to do. It was a good idea to get in good graces with the higher ups as soon as possible before things got a little crazy and he was on the wrong side of the spectrum. Archer had no plans of ruling but at the same time he also didn't want to be too low on the pole that he made no difference. The cipher quickly tried to focus on the task at him so he could actually get this done then go home once more.
"It's probably not that important. " he said before glancing at the one huge tv screen talking about something in the canyon before looking back. "There have just been these rumors about the return of Cipher that have been really unsettling. A lot of people are getting worried, especially up near Agate. I know its nothing but rumors but what if they really are making shadow pokemon again and they aren't a myth?" he asked putting a worried look on as he faced the other. Honestly, if he kept this up maybe he was getting too good at faking emotions.

Some amount of words for Archer Velm I am so, so, so sorry for the wait ;^; school killed me then vacations and aaaaaaah sorry
There was nothing Alastair could disagree with. The other was completely right. Alastair scratched Baroque's chin as the other talked. The bird had warmed up to him over time. It was nice to have her finally trusting him. Even though Alastair did catch her in a shop. He couldn't fathom how she got in there. "I know that feeling, that's why I work and travel alone," he said after the other finished his statement. "At least I can trust my Pokemon to look after me." It wasn't like Alastair had anyone else. In his field, most everyone was out for blood. They were ready to murder someone or cause an "accident" if it meant getting ahead and getting their studies published. A few times Alastair had found pieces of things in his food that would make him ill. He found strange devices next to doors of other researchers at conventions... it was not a nice field if you started to get into the dirty parts of it like the myths and legends. Everyone wanted to be right, and Alastair? Well, he just wanted the money so he could eat another day.
He focused in on the rumor. Agate was a long way away and August was probably tired, but she could make it if Alastair stopped half way. Once there, he could poke around for some more rumors and see what he could find. It was going to be a tough journey but... well, his client was offering enough money to last a month and then some. That meant a cheap motel room and food for his Pokemon. Then perhaps free breakfast for Alastair at the motel. He could shove fifty waffles in his backpack without anyone noticing.
"Agate, huh? Well, anything helps." Alastair finished his glass of water and put it down. "Guess I better head out then. The more I travel during the day, the better off I'll be." He stood up and shrugged his backpack back on. He counted the pokeballs just to make sure he had everyone. Then he looked at Baroque. "You good to fly for a few more miles while August and I take the ground?" Baroque nodded and moved for the door. "It was nice to meet you, thanks again for the rumor. It'll help me finish this research faster." Alastair smiled. "Don't piss off any bikers." He left for the door. It would take him a few minutes to prepare August, but she would be good for a while. At least until it got dark.
This... was not supposed to be this easy. Sure Archer wouldn't complain that this was a lot easier than he thought it would be, but at the same time some challenge was actually needed to make sure he didn't get too bored with the missions he was given. This guy looked like a easy target, acted like an easy target, and didn't give him trouble whatsoever. Archer wondered what had happened in this guys life that made him so happy all the time. In fact this wasn't really a normal thing for him to even see in these parts, most people of orre were hard to even talk to let alone smile so much like this kid it was... odd.
"It's a nice feeling, to know at least one thing won't betray you." he said more to himself than the other. Perhaps there was a bit of regret in that line but he was sure to cover it up quickly to make sure the other wouldn't hear to much of it and he wouldn't let himself feel like that again. What was in the past was the past and now he was going to live for this moment right now as long as he possibly could. Archer looked back that way however when the blonde seemed to take the bait without any problems and began to leave making his way outside after saying anything would help. This guy really was a thrill seeker wasn't he?
Watching him go Archer stood up himself picking up his eevee in his arms for the moment and moving to follow the other outside. Why did he get an odd feeling in the pit of his stomach that this guy was going to get himself killed? More importantly, why was he finding that he actually cared about it? Archer sighed a bit since the other had been at least trying to be nice to him it couldn't hurt to give him a bit of advice. "If you go about 15 miles west of here there is a nice town called Phenac, not sure if you've been or not. The mayor there is pretty kind, he'll probably find a room for you pretty cheap. Otherwise if you ride past it go a little north and Agate is just beyond it. Though it would probably take you have a day on a pokemon, the area around phenac is pretty safe if you like the wilderness... " he said
Moving to the vehicle he had come in. "One more thing..." the man looked back. "Don't die." he said getting in and was ready to put this entire odd meeting behind him.
He let August out of her pokeball and checked her saddle and bridle. They both seemed secure enough to last a trip. August nudged Alastair's hand with her nose. She was ready to get on the road again. She never liked just standing there. Still as a stone.
Alastair perked up when the other followed him out and spoke to him again. He smiled. Well... after the trouble he got into at the town, it might be best not to go back for a while. At any rate, the information was helpful and would get him to where he was going faster.
"Thanks," he said. Alastair mounted August and pulled at the reigns. Baroque took off to the sky and circled above them, ready to follow. August stomped her hooves and shook her head. Her flames grew brighter. Alastair reached into his bag for his goggles and bandana. He put the goggles on and tied the bandana loosely around his neck.
The last statement from the stranger made Alastair's neck hairs rise. He gave the other a curious look before giving a big smile. "Me? Die? Yeah, right." He pulled against at August's reigns and gave the man one last smile before kicking her sides with his heels.
August darted into the desert. They turned towards the west, planning on a straight shot towards Agate. Alastair's smile faded during the ride. He had a bad feeling. It wasn't like the normal bad feeling he got either. It was the type of feeling that told him that he was about to either royally fuck up or that something else was going to happen later. He looked over him to make sure Baroque was following. After confirming the bird was there, Alastair hunkered down for the ride and pulled the bandana over his face. Him? Die? Ha! He would like to see Death try.
