Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

A morning can't begin without a cup of something strong, bitter, and dark brown. The brew known as coffee was vital to life itself like blood. In a way it was far more important. Coffee had caffeine and caffeine helped the heart pump blood through the body. So in a way, every morning Lucas was helping his heart pump life sustaining liquid. Well, actually no, the truth was that he was just addicted at this point. But that wasn't what he was telling himself.
Just another minute. He told himself, waiting in line at a coffee shop where they sold this legal substance that ruled over his morning routine like a king over a slave. He was in fact a slave... but it did allow the morning to transition into the afternoon more easily. He waited rather impatiently, sifting through the coffee shop's selection of unsorted cookies in a basket. Individually wrapped but about as big as the rim of a peanut butter jar, each seemed to be a special recipe unique to the brewer. Seems like someone had a knack for puns as well. None of the names were notable; however, Chacolatte seemed like a worthy candidate for a snack.
Pulling it up, he could see that there were warning for allergies including milk, sugar, and glutton. Good god, that's what cookies are usually made of right? Why did they need a warning label for being perfectly normal? Ah who cares, it wasn't like he had any allergies anyway. He was a young man of twenty three with nothing else to loose other than maybe his good looks and a little bit of debt to some local street thugs.
Going out in public was becoming a more and more dangerous activity in the recent days; thankfully, Lucas had his own team of pokemon to protect himself. And who better than a pair of ghosts? They didn't leave a trail to follow and Goofball could send people into a deep sleep to get away from unwanted attention. But that exact trick in his sleeve had to be saved otherwise people would start catching on to his plan. Although it did seem obvious from the perspective of a potential scam victim to expect some kind of scam in the first place. This was Pyrite town after all, the very streets had a far more infamous reputation than he himself. And he'd been all over Orre!
Lucas held onto the wrapped cookie for a moment. If he waited for the perfect timing then attention would be pulled in another direction. Then he could put the cookie in his coat pocket and move on without anyone noticing. It was a great way to save a couple bucks... besides wasn't the price of a big cup of coffee high enough?
Well... this is Pyrite Town. Thieving was common... in all forms. So perhaps the place was robbing people with high prices as much as the people were robbing the place back. Seemed like an intricate game of tug of war. Was he going to enter that game too? Hmm maybe. He wasn't one to waste an opportunity. Honestly, not taking advantage of one's own situation is what led many people to fall behind. To stay on top you had to be on top over every little detail.
But... was Lucas really at the top? He was planning on stealing a cookie from a coffee shop. Honestly, this seemed to be the lowest of the low. He could barely afford to come here every... wow. He didn't come to this place very often, maybe once every couple months. Being that he had to travel around to not only look for small jobs to do but also to protect himself from the jobs he just did, the blonde couldn't stick around for very long. Hmm... he'd run out of places to go if he wasn't careful.
Yet Pyrite Town had been one of his more frequent locations to visit. More opportunities to work were here... but also far more opportunities to get mugged in a dark ally.
Someone bumped into him, a black haired guy who looked younger than himself. In a quick instant Lucas recognized that his pocket had been touched in that bump. Luckily he was a step ahead. His wallet was in a place no one would dare look. The blonde guessed that the thief targeted him because of his appearance.. he was wearing a nice jacket and white collar shirt... hmm what bad timing to look well off. No harm done, a guy just trying to get some money huh?
"Sorry, didn't mean to get in your way." Lucas said, being chill about it. Perhaps he could turn the tables on the guy, to find out if he has any place where he keeps what he picks up.
"Are you ok?" He asked, being as genuine as someone with a motive could be seen as a decent guy. Having a silver tongue was more than just talking with slick wording, it was about the subtle nuances in the body language, face, and even the way you looked at other people. For one thing you look them in the eye and ask the question, the second is that you portray your role the way they should be portrayed. He was the rich guy coming in for coffee.
Perhaps, maybe more than that. He was a rich looking guy who evaded the picket pocketing. In the future that thief may try something a bit more direct than a just bumping into him.
He or a buddy will be waiting outside for me. I'll just have to spring the trap. He went back to what he was doing, at that moment attention was on the guy walking out of the coffee shop. Eyes in the room were focused on him, instead of Lucas.
Not even thinking he turned while placing the cookie he was holding into his coat pocket. Seemed like he wasn't going to break his habits any time soon.
Silently he waited for his coffee to be ready. On busy days like these it was hard to tell when even the simplest of orders would be ready.

I WANNA HIDE THE TRUTH

He'd learned from his last encounter here that he shouldn't wear a suit or anything fancy looking while he was here. Learned that he should blend in. The last time he had gotten a knife thrown at his neck, and while he was able to avoid it he'd rather do his best to completely avoid the situation altogether. So because of that, he wore a different outfit, not his usual black vest and white collared shirt -- though he did see someone else walk out of a shop wearing that, hopefully he wasn't a victim or didn't become one. Instead he worse a much simpler outfit, composed of just a white tee-shirt with an olive colored jacket and jeans. Nothing that made him look like he was rich -- which really, he definitely wasn't. Really, he'd love to be rich for just once in his life and not have to rely on stolen goods -- which he very rarely did anymore -- or things found discarded in towns.
Pushing his hair out of his face with a sigh, Liam groggily headed to the coffee shop that other suited man came out of. Sure he didn't have a ton of money, but that didn't mean he couldn't reward himself once in a while on an early morning day with a nice hot cup of the liquid energy. It was too early in the morning to deal with the rabble that wandered the streets of this town. Really, he didn't even understand why he had come back to this place. He had told himself he wouldn't return until he was able to join the Police Department. It was just too bothersome. Even then, it would be bothersome. He was sure he'd become the target of more than a couple of people even with simple clothes.
But he was in range of this town, it was the closest one, and he'd rather not head to a different one just to avoid Pyrite. He could more than handle himself around here. Handling himself was kind of his specialty, he didn't even need Pokemon for that. Though they were handy, and he couldn't fight Pokemon with his own body, and their company was preferable to any human's in his opinion.
Stifling a yawn, he pushed his way through the doors to the coffee shop and took in a deep breath of that wonderful smell that could only be produced from a brewing cup of coffee. As far as he was aware, at least. There were a couple of people in here, so he kept his guard up in case any of them tried some slick handed move to steal his wallet. He gave a couple of glances at the menu to find something he liked, given the fact he had never set foot inside this coffee shop before. In the end he decided to settle on a caramel macchiato and a muffin, ordering it from the barista up front.
Stepping back he would just wait around for his order, keeping his eyes off of the other customers by occupying himself with reading things on other products or even the menu again.

"Lucas!" The barista said. Holding it out, she made eye contact as Lucas walked towards the counter to take the coffee drink.
"Thanks." He said taking the hot cup. Breathing in the sweet smell, he took a sip while walking away from the counter. He didn't pay attention to the other names being said because he was far too busy with his hot beverage. The slightest sip was scorching to his lips, but that didn't stop him. He needed his caffeine fix. Once satisfied with its initial taste he looked for the exit door. With his arm reaching into his pocket for a pokeball, he readied himself for the encounter that would likely happen outside.
"Liam!" The barista said.
Lucas flicked his head around like a desperate owl had found rare prey. His eyes caught a figure in the crowd. Knowing that person from his memory they had the same shade of blond hair, the same strong jawline, and same everything. Lucas was looking at his long lost older twin standing there in the crowd. To say the least of his reaction, the younger brother couldn't think of anything to say to his older brother. He was stunned like a deerling in head lights. SO he just took a moment to look at Liam.
In terms of taste they both had the slick suits and dark sunglasses look going on for them. Sexy as ever. Just as before years ago, seeing Liam was like looking into a mirror with only a few subtle differences between their faces.
Still speechless, the younger brother was hesitant to do anything about this situation. Lucas questioned staying as well as leaving, knowing both choices would end up being regrettable in their own ways. Giving up on staying inside the coffee shop, he slid outside, unsure if his bother even noticed him. He let go of his pokeball, as he began to plot out his words for their possible interaction.
Hey bro, haven't seen you in how many years? He thought, thinking about how stupidly naive that would sound. What happened years ago was a serious matter. You can't just drop history as if it never happened. It changes people and forces them to realize who they've spent their life protecting and helping survive.
The last time the twins had been together they had been fighting, although there was only one blow involved with that battle. Going against his brother only caused their tempers to flare. But his brother's temper was more like an exploding bomb. The resulting outcome of their brief fight left Lucas hospitalized. The younger twin remembered waking up in the hospital, clueless and recovering from a near crippling injury.
The reason Lucas didn't stay around for very long was because he made up his mind about who he wanted to be. Even though Liam obviously objected about the person Lucas would one day become, a liar and a thief. Turns out Liam was right about that.
Did Lucas regret his choice? No. He was surviving better than before. In fact he was practically thriving. Ok, that was a lie. In all truth of the matter, he wasn't any better off than when the two brothers were together.
But being around his brother wasn't going to solve any financial issues. In fact they weren't compatible people because they were total opposites. Lucas being the evil twin while his brother the goody two shoe -but with a dangerous temper.
Wouldn't it be better for them both if Lucas just stayed away? If he could in fact stay way then he wouldn't need to think about what he needed to say. Memories of their childhood reminded Lucas just how difficult it was for Liam's enemies to run away from a fight. Most everyone wound up in the hospital. But it that what his brother wanted for Lucas? To put him back in the hospital? Lucas had no idea what Liam wanted. So he stood outside the coffee shop waiting.

I WANNA HIDE THE TRUTH
[attr="class","httlyr"]I WANNA SHELTER YOU
The blonde was busy reading the individual names on each of the muffins in display when it happened. It came like an ice cold splash to the face. He wasn't even sure he was right, but just hearing the barista call out the name of someone he had once spent every waking moment with... it was probably more of a wake up call then the coffee he just paid for. Lucas. The same name as his identical twin. A twin that he had been searching for since they parted and yet had never found. A twin that he had been nearly inseparable from. A twin that he had hurt in a fit of rage, and then in horror ran from.
But that name could belong to anyone, right? It wasn't like he could be the only Lucas in Pyrite, or the Orre Region, or even the world. It wasn't like they said his last name, like they called out Callaghan. Just his first name. But the pure fact he heard that name called out in this place caused him to look up quickly just in case. Just in case that someone was his brother. But what would he do if it were?
As his head snapped up, thoughts whirling all at once, he spotted the one person he could never forget. The one person he had both hoped and feared for it to be. There was no mistaking his brother, his twin. It was like saying you couldn't recognize yourself in a photo of completely different looking people. That was definitely his twin, and that both made his heart leap and his stomach flip. He just stared at him in a daze until his name was called and he snapped out of it. "Wh-?" He realized it was the barista and he stumbled to the front to take the coffee and the muffin.
When he looked back around his brother was gone. Probably left. He wondered if he had noticed him. If he hurried he could probably get to him before he got too far. But did he want to? What if his brother didn't want to see him? Who would want to see him after he so cruelly hurt them? Hurt them with this monstrous strength of his? That's all he was right, a monster. That was the only explanation for his strength.... But, but what if he never got another chance? He had been searching for him. Part of the whole reason he wanted to become a Police Officer was so he had the resources to find his twin. So he should go after him.
He'd never know how his brother still felt about him if he didn't at least try. He'd never be able to forgive himself or look at himself in the mirror if he didn't at least go after him. Didn't at least... see how he was doing after all this time. When he had returned to the hospital after the incident, Lucas had been gone. He had hated himself even more from that point forward. Everything had hit him like he'd run into a wall of bricks. The staff hadn't given him any information about his brother's whereabouts, about his condition, about when he had woken up. Nothing. And that had hurt. The only person in the entire world that Liam still cared about and he had lost him in an instant because of a temper he couldn't control.
He still hadn't learned to get that temper under control. He was terrified of hurting him again or hurting someone else, so he just pushed everyone away. All because of that one incident. He'd never forgive himself for it. So, if nothing else, he had to make sure to go after him and tell him how sorry he was. Even if his brother hated him, even if he didn't want anything to do with him ever again... He had to apologize.
So he had made up his mind, and willing himself to move he shoved the muffin in his jacket pocket and rushed out of the coffee shop. "Lucas!" he called.
@lucas NOTES: bloop
BUT WITH THE BEAST INSIDE

"Liam!" Lucas said, nearly dropping his coffee on his shirt. He didn't expect his long lost brother to nearly break open the door. He apparently wanted to speak. Out of all things that Lucas could, a dynamic exit was not one.
"I... I... don't know what to say." A partial truth. He wasn't sure what to say but he knew that finding his brother after all these years was another opportunity that he couldn't ignore. Now in front of him he faced the familiar temptation of manipulation just as he'd done with countless people before. In a way this didn't really feel like his brother. He'd grown so cold in the last few years that the concept of family had felt so twisted. Another part of him was screaming out happiness for his brother's return. Seeing him face to face really is different than just glancing at him from across the room. He thought he'd hesitated before, not he was for the most part trapped between trying to manipulate his brother and trying not to mess up their relationship any more.
God. Lucas really was a total dick. Just thinking about how he could use Liam... what would he even do? Send him after debt collectors?
Well maybe I could... NO. NO. NO. NO. You are not doing that to your brother. You may be a selfish criminal but you're not about to make an enemy from your family. Just... flow with it. If anything good happens just don't screw it up. Now's a chance to return to that old time when you were safe, protect, and could truly trust someone. His long pause for thinking happened in about an equal amount of time to speak it out. So if his brother had been talking, actually even if his brother was violently hugged him then he still wouldn't have realized until his inner dialogue had ended.
"Liam... it's been years." He said, finally pushing something out of his mouth.
"Even a day is far too long a time to be away from a twin." Lucas started but quickly stopped. He was the one who ran away. Acting like he was chasing his brother didn't make any sense... it wasn't the truth. That is what his brother would want. So.. could he even tell the truth at that point? Could Lucas utter words that weren't lies?
"We've got a lot to talk about." He said. He could have finished that sentence with about why I left or about why I'm still avoiding you. However, just leaving it open ended helped him think. He didn't know what to do with his brother anymore. Nothing would satisfy his selfish desires while also being the 'right' thing to do. No, he'd be conflicted until something happened or a decision was made. So far he'd only regretted running away when he was in trouble, no one was there to protect him. But that was just a selfish regret Being honest with himself meant realizing that he didn't regret leaving. He chose to be the thief in the streets. That the life he wanted... but this was an opportunity to revoke his choice.
Was it... a good idea? Would his brother forgive him? He just didn't know what his brother was thinking. What was Liam thinking?

I WANNA HIDE THE TRUTH

Liam was really relieved when his brother responded and he realized that he was just right outside the coffee shop. He had been so worried that he wasn't going to be there anymore. So to see him, and have it confirmed that this was indeed his twin... It was pretty emotional. He carefully moved over to him, as if he were afraid that any sudden movement might cause him to run away or just disappear as if this were a dream. If it were a dream, he didn't want to wake up. He didn't want to open his eyes and find an open sky as opposed to his brother's face...
He just couldn't stop staring at him, even when he realized that's what he was doing. He cleared his throat and looked down, scratching the back of his head. "U-uhm, hey.." he said slowly. The words fell thick from his tongue. Now that he was right in front of him he didn't know what to say either. He hadn't thought that far ahead. Granted he didn't really have the time to think that far ahead, but... Now that he was here the only thing that wanted to run through his mind was total silence. A complete blank. He'd always been able to talk to his twin. He was the only one he had ever trusted. He wanted to be able to do that again. To hold a conversation with his brother. To be able to stay at his side.
He didn't care about the rest. He didn't care about the way Lucas lived. Yeah, sure, he wanted him to be a better person, but he just didn't care anymore. He was sure he hadn't changed his point of view if nothing else, since that was the cause of their argument in the first place... But if he could just stay by his brother's side once more... He didn't care. He didn't care about having to live that way. He'd give up become a Police Officer even if it meant he could even spend one day with his twin.
He wouldn't even care if he used him.
"Uhm... Lucas..." he said slowly. What could he even say? He could just spill out his apology, that would work right? He could tell him how much he hated himself for it, how much he had missed him, looked for him for years. How he wanted to go back to the way they were before, without the fighting, even though he knew it were impossible. The past could never be forgotten, could it? Speak, Liam, damn it! You might never have another chance at this! If he leaves, you might never see him again! So speak! He looked back up when he heard his brother's voice.
"It has been years... hasn't it?" he spoke quietly. "It's been... really awful without you... I've... really missed you, Lucas... We do have a lot to talk about..." They definitely had a lot to talk about. About that situation. About themselves. About their possible future if that even existed. Liam really had a lot of talking to do. To tell him how he felt. To explain what couldn't really be explained. There was no excuse for what he had done.
He wanted to say something else but nothing else would come out. Should he wait for Lucas to speak? To break this awkward tension? He'd always been the talker of the duo. Liam had never been good with words, he was just good with physical activities. Without another word he found his coffee dropping to the floor as he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around his brother. To express how he felt in this one physical thing. He just wanted to hug him, to feel him right there. He just hoped he returned the hug, or at least didn't push him away...

And there was the hug. At least it wasn't a huge made from eight years of built up anger. Flowing it it as he planned, he embraced his brother in return, arms wrapped around and all.
"When did you get so short?" Lucas said, cracking out a bad joke. The mood needed lightened, he wasn't about to start crying because... Ok, fine! Even he had to admit this was a moment to at least have watery eyes. Stepping back he double checked to see if his estimate was correct. He was indeed looking down towards his older brother. This was victory in the highest name. The two had always been mostly identical, in just about every way except for the subtle nuances of their face, voice, and hygiene. Now the tables have turned and he was the favored twin. Ok. he was totally blowing this out of proportion...
"You're voice got deeper. Dear god it's like listening to a cello." Lucas said, wondering how else they'd changed in eight years time. He could have swore something else was different besides age... height... voice... .... .......... no it wasn't visual. There was another change. It was a familiar sensation to Lucas's own.
"Did you pick up smoking?" He asked, a little bit shocked and wondered if it was true. He wasn't about to judge his brother, in fact he pulled out a pack from his pocket.
"Cause I did." He wasn't going to lite up right now. No, that would be a bit rude. Besides he wasn't a chain smoker. He could wait till later or even the next day. He put the pack back into his coat pocket.
"Let's go someplace more quiet." Lucas said. The morning was erupting into action as people started walking down the streets. Hmm there had to be a good place in Pyrite Town for a good talk without other people being around. Lucas did want to get a bit more serious in conversation, so the less people the better.

Liam couldn't help but hug his brother. He was just so emotional right now. It had been such a long time... The last time he saw his brother was when they were fifteen... Eight whole years ago. That was a long time. A really long time to be without your twin. Without someone who was like the other piece of your soul. They were born together, life meant for them to stay together. He tried not to soak his brother's shirt as he hugged him, and he was so relieved when he just hugged him back. Eight years of fear that Lucas had to hate him just seeped out at it.
He let out an awkward, choked laugh when Lucas made that joke. Even if it did make him feel like puffing up like a child and arguing. He wiped at his eyes when his twin pulled away. "You're not that much taller!" he complained, looking him up and down. "It's probably just your shoes! They're thicker!" He did find himself puff up a bit. He wondered just how prideful Lucas must be feeling right now that he was taller than his older twin, even if it was only by a little. But he felt... happy. At least for this short period of time, talking like this with him was a really big lift on his spirits.
"Yeah well, it's been eight years. Your voice isn't exactly the same either." he pointed out. Had his voice really become that much deeper? He really didn't notice the change, but that was only logical.
He was definitely surprised by his question though. He had picked up smoking, a couple years ago. He smoked quite a bit actually. He was a stress smoker, which uh, he had pretty much 24/7. The blonde rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish grin. "Oh? You noticed that easily? Yeah, I picked up smoking. It's become a vice of mine. I'm always running out.." He gave a nervous laugh but he was glad that Lucas smoked too though. And yeah, that was kinda an awful thing to say. Saying you were glad that someone was ruining their health with cigarettes. But hey, at least he wasn't alone?
"There probably isn't many places too private in Pyrite." he commented with a sigh. He looked around though. He certainly didn't want to have this conversation out in public either, especially in case there was a particular set of prying eyes. "Private... Uh, abandoned mines, abandoned buildings, I guess we could probably find a cheap ass hotel of some sort..."

"This... dark alley will do well... it's only Pyrite town right?" Lucas said, suddenly remembering he might have an encounter with a thief of two back here. But hey, with Liam around he didn't really need to worry about petty thieves anymore. Well, at least till the two were once again separated. Next time though, it wasn't going to be for very long. Lucas was coming to the decision that he did want his brother in his life. So far there hadn't been a single sign of quarrel between them. Was it just that easy to reunite?
"Ok so let's just start from the beginning." Lucas said. He was about to cover eight years of his life in a matter of... hmm yeah he had about an hour to stand around and talk before he needed to go deliver a small package. Preparing his thoughts, he tried to think back in time. His memory was a little bit foggy around those tender teen years but a few moments were unforgettable.
"Where did you go after taking me to the hospital, after that stupid fight?" He asked, knowing full well that he'd have a question come his way about where he went after leaving. He could try to twist it in his own favor; however, it seemed obvious to Lucas at least that he was a habitual liar. Even if he did tell the truth there could be doubt... yet the look of joy as well as the sadness being lifted away... the man seemed broken, no fixed. Liam really was looking for him. Awe man. Now Lucas was just getting a little more wet eyed as the moment continued. He lifted his shades to wipe away a tear with his wrist.

Liam followed him to the alley and couldn't help but let out a small laugh when he commented on the alley. "What do you mean 'only Pyrite town'? I've been practically killed here several times." But he would protect his brother if that happened. He didn't have to worry about that. There was no way in hell he was letting any petty thief or murderer even lay one finger on his twin now that he had found him.
He wasn't about to lose him all over again.
Right, from the beginning. And that question, huh? Well, they had to start somewhere, and that was definitely the beginning. He let out a small sigh as the guilt crept back into him, and ran a hand through his hair to push it out of his eyes as he stood there, occasionally glancing around to make sure no one was headed their way. You know, just in case. The answer however, was in its own way, pretty simple. "Anywhere." he answered after a moment. "I just wanted to get away anywhere. I was... afraid you would hate me when you woke up. If you want a literal answer though... I didn't go to a town or anything, so I can't pinpoint where I was. I stayed in the wilderness. I was worried someone would find out what I did, or that I wouldn't have you to talk me out of the stupid situations I got myself in..."
It was true. He didn't run into any town, he stayed in the wilderness, amongst the trees and plains. He knew how to survive there best, surviving in a town was... more difficult. Funny, wasn't it? Surviving in a place designed for survival was more difficult to survive in than a place that had no human necessities whatsoever? Since they had spent so much of their early lives on their own, that was probably to be expected. You learned to survive however you could.
