lord she's[break]the end of days[break]and there's hell to pay[break]she's a wild fire
Maiya might have been stuck in pyrite sharing a room with a drunk idiot but that didn't mean she had to spend the entire time there. Especially since she was still on the hunt for that stupid sculpture. You'd think it would be easier to find but apparently it was old enough even most of the people in Orre had looked at her funny and said they'd never seen it when she asked around. It was starting to get a little ridiculous but she was hoping something in this town would pan out. A few questions had led her to the duel square, apparently people gathered here often. Perhaps she'd find someone she could question a bit. [break][break] Most of the people she saw looked like idiots who would try to steal something from her, gets their nose busted and then whine the whole way out of there about getting beat by a girl. If she could have sighed any louder she would. Maiya had to scour the crowd longer than she care to in order to find someone that seemed a little more likely to know what she was looking for, [break][break] "Hey, you." probably not the best way to get people answering her but Maiya wasn't the type to care. "Ever seen anything that looked like this around here?" she shoved the pictures she had at the guy, he'd either know them or he wouldn't. [break]

it's not that easy, but, i've got high hopes Broken bottles in the hotel lobby Seems to me like I'm just scared of never feeling it again I know it's crazy to believe in silly things But it's not that easy
Found himself in this nice little town, and nice is...well the nice way to put it. The fact that the town was mixed of the new and the old with a crimson rust like color to the town. It had its charm but the reason Eli was in a place like this was unknown. But he was here in the towns dual square to possibly get in a battle or two and knock the rust off his own battle skills since he had taken a long hiatus from being an actual trainer. His yet to be named Rattata and his Poochyena Jinsoku could use the good work out to get stronger. They sure seemed to wanted it so guess that be good enough reason for a guy like Eli to be in a place like this.
Despite the questionable looking people, Eli didn't seem to be tense or nervous. Suddenly a 'Hey you' close by grabbed his attention and before he could react in a proper way, he had a photo shoved in his face, making him flinch back a bit with a small "Guuh!" he managed to grunt out in surprise. Leaning back a bit, he took the picture from the blonde girl, who....despite looked like she could wreck him was pretty. But it was that hair and her eyes that was nice....aside from being a bit cruel looking.
"No, I haven't even seen this before." he said after a moment of looking over the photo before handing it back and gave a small apologetic smile. "Have you tried asking the locals? Maybe the pokemon center could be more help." he offered alternate ways to help. | WORD COUNT 280 NOTES Done and replied in no time flat. Told ya!~ |

Maiya sighed. No help again, that was becoming a running gag at this point with the region. At least this guy apparently had a good excuse. "Locals? So you're not even from around here?" just her luck. "Great, already tried there and they sent me here." Seeing as it was a bit of a hub for trainers she'd been advised to find someone in the area, after all there was plenty of people here. She stuffed the picture back in the bag on her hip and rubbed the back of her head in annoyance. [break][break] "You met anyone around here who's a bit of a collector or something? Or you fresh off the boat and still figuring out where everything is or something?" she crossed her arms over her chest and stared, she wasn't really expecting much. Even the locals hadn't given her a lot to work with and the only one that had turned out to be a bit of a drunk the first night they'd even made it to town. [break]

Eli shook his head and gave a little apologetic smile to that "Sorry, not from here." he admitted what she already figured out on her own. Which now just seemed to stand here watching her a moment then looking around, it seemed two other trainers were fixing to battle...which was fairly obvious when they pulled out a pokeball.
He shook his head again, returning his attention back to the woman and shrugged a little. "I been here for a few months so Im not sure what can be considered 'fresh off the boat.' But Im sorry I cant be of any more help than you want because I don't know any collectors." he rub the back of his neck and wished he could be more of a help to this girl but he was useless in that department right now. But he was curious and wasn't sure if he should ask....but he was going to anyways.
"So that statue. What is it?" the 'why are you looking for it' would come later, he didn't want to come off as a pushy man mainly since she looked irritated enough as is and he so didn't want to have his lights punched out! Defiantly not in this area either. His money and stuff could be stolen. | WORD COUNT 216 NOTES Nah tis all good. |

"Of course, just what I need, another bust." by this point she was more mumbling to herself over this than anything else, she was starting to get the sinking feeling she'd be in this blasted region a lot longer than she had planned to be. Even after getting the help of that big idiot she hadn't made a lot of progress. The little woman* let out an annoyed sigh. [break][break] "It's a sculpture, what else is it going to be? Art. At least some rich guy across the waters sure thinks so. Some Hoenn dumbass." she bit her tongue after that, she doubted anyone from here would know her client but since this guy was from out of the region apparently there'd be a chance word could get back to him. The last thing she needed was to have the whole thing called off because she got a little mouthy. [break][break] She took a breath, no point in getting pissy with a stranger really. "Anyway, thanks for trying. Try not to get killed out here." Maiya commented before scanning the crowd again for someone who seemed like they might know more. [break]

Ok so maybe that was a bit of a dumb question he didn't think through. But nonetheless, what he failed to ask was answered for him. It was just a item some wealthy man over seas wanted to add to his collection. And now he knew she was something of a hired treasure hunter or something.
That aside, what really peaked his interest was the fact she mentioned Hoenn before she cut herself off and well, thats all Eli needed to hook onto for a casual talk with this young woman. But she was fixing to leave, he didn't want her to take off just yet!
"Excuse me." he said, grabbing her attention as he hooked his hand on her arm to keep her from walking off and offered an apologetic smile, he was aware of how touchy people can be on being touched in general and hoped to Arceus that she wouldn't round on him with a right hook.
"You mentioned Hoenn." he paused, he most likely wouldn't know the man shes treasure hunting for but it was his home land and she could very well been from there too. "You from Hoenn too?" | WORD COUNT: 195 NOTES: That is short and that is adorable! so small little maiya~ |

If the guy didn't give off a totally harmless vibe she probably would have decked him for grabbing her. lucky for him it was a bad habit she was trying to work on and she managed to keep herself restrained to just giving him a stern look before shaking him off. He didn't seem to have any malice behind the gesture but she preferred an act of better safe than sorry over anything else most the time. [break][break] "Yeah, Hoenn. Fortree to be exact." she didn't miss the place. Maybe if she had better memories of it she might have thought better of the place. It was something that looking back a small part of her hoped she could revisit the area. It would have been a place worth being if she'd grown up there under different circumstances. [break][break] She sighed, it wasn't like she was going to be getting anywhere fast today anyway. Might as well stop and chat a little. It could have been worse. "Let me guess, you from one of the cities?" [break]

Must have been lucky to have run into someone form Hoenn as well but he didnt miss or ignore the fact that touching her or keeping her here for a small chat wasn't that appealing to the girl. But at least she seemed to humor him and the least he could do in return was hopefully keep the conversation interesting enough.
"Slateport City." he nodded, confirming her coax to that city question. "I'd say its been a good...five years maybe, since I last was back home."
But he'd spare her the details of why he left which was because he was a stupid boy back then. But now he actually wasn't sure.
"So Fortree, hm? I haven't been there even though I know there is a gym there. Is it true that people live up in the trees?" he asked. Curious Eli was curious. But there was good reason why he had not been there, let alone much of anywhere in Hoenn before hopping a boat and coming to Orre. | WORD COUNT: 171 NOTES: feisty chihuahua? haha just had to pick one of them ankle biting dogs. She wasn't surprised when he said Slateport city, sounded about right. Not like the region was that big of a place anyway, at least not once you'd gone back and forth through it enough. "Slateport, not too bad." she wasn't really a fan of the region in general though despite it being her place of origin. Maiya had a hard time figuring out good things about the place to talk about whenever it came up. She tried not to talk bad about it either though, just because she had so many bad experiences in the place didn't mean she had the right to ruin it for anyone that liked the place. [break][break] "Most of us did yeah, kinda had to learn to go up over the years." she pointed upwards as she spoke. It wasn't wrong, there'd always been tree houses in Fortree. At least there had been for as long as she'd been there. "Lived in one actually." it was probably the only thing she really liked about home, one thing she missed. Being up in the trees had always made for such a nice view from the back balcony. [break][break] "How's a city boy end up in a place like Orre?" she gave him a bit of a funny look, the region wasn't exactly known for being friendly, if anything the other regions seemed to like pretending it didn't exist. Then again that was probably part of the appeal of the place. Offered those from the calm side of the other regions a place with a little excitement. [break]

Nodded to that when she said Slateport wasn't too bad. Somehow seemed like she didn't like talking about so he nodded again in idle action pretty much. It was nice to meet someone from home...since when would he get this chance again? Those chances seemed slim to none so he felt compelled to try to make an impression on her, a good one...or any impression that would last because who would really remember a guy like him? Aside from being gifted in the good looks and nice hair if you were into that...which she didn't seem to be.
With the confirmation of being in Fortree and that town actually had tree houses and she lived in one. "That must of been so cool." he mused.
Eli was being a boy, thinking back to how cool it be to live in tree houses in the trees. He was soon distracted form thinking about that when the question involved him and why he was in a place like this which he didn't hesitate to give a shrug and a little smile. "I wanted to see other regions and this one seemed good enough as any." he said, might not be as convincing but he wasn't going to get personal with this pretty young lady and say he almost killed his first Pokemon because he was a poor example of a trainer. | WORD COUNT: 232 NOTES: Procrastination is a baaad thing. |
