Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

It was a wonderful evening. The type of evening someone could enjoy by just sitting out on one of the many tower balconies. That was that Alastair was doing. He had gotten tired after training that day, and had decided to return to his room. The view from the balcony was amazing, and the weather was good enough to just sit out there, enjoying the setting sun. Another reason he was out here was to rest his leg. He had propped it up on one of the balcony tables. The fresh gauze and medical tape was still white, which was a good sign. His wounds had closed, now it was just a matter of keeping them that way. Alastair was surprised that he hadn't bled to death yet.
Potato was laying beside him. The pup was curled up in a tight ball, snoozing his life away. An ear was perked up, listening to the Pidgey and Pidove that landed on the balcony. Alastair was throwing seeds and frozen peas at them. He had picked some up before returning to his room, just for the purpose of feeding the birds. The birds were peacefully eating the seeds. They watched Potato before every bite, then after every bite. Alastair was mildly interested in their actions, and he started taking notes. The birds seemed more concerned with Potato than with him. Perhaps it had something to do with the food?

Alastair was beginning to dose. The sun was halfway past the horizon of the desert. He could feel himself drifting off into sleep. The temperature was just right. Warm enough to feel comfortable. Snoozing comfortable. Alastair slumped down in his chair and tried to get his leg to relax, but it was still throbbing with pain.
"Greetings!"
Alastair jumped a foot in the air. Potato was up without a second to waste. He bared his teeth and puffed his fur out. The hiker threw his tools over the edge of the balcony and crawled over. The birds flew off.
"Uh.... how did you get up here?" Alastair asked. He looked down. There was nothing to climb up. He was above the fiftieth floor. The hiker brushed himself off and held out a rust fork.
"I am Sir Hikesalot! Knight of the four realms! Speakith your nameith!"
Alastair stared at him. The hiker had bloodshot eyes, and he seemed to be a little too relaxed.
"Wow, the stuff you're on must be stronger than anything my buddies had over at college. I think you need a nap."
"No! I must chase the dragon!"
Alastair sighed. When his friends came back to the dorm high, he would usually make bagel bites and then forcefully make his friends go to sleep. Or watch crappy movies and talk among themselves.
"Dragon?" Alastair asked. Potato looked up at him. This was odd.
"Yes! A foul and nasty beast! I must chase the dragon and rescue the princess!"
Alastair hesitated. This was... too much. He just wanted to feed the birds then take a nap.
"Uh.... I haven't seen a dragon?"
"Lies!"
Alastair sighed.
"You got me, I lied. I know where the dragon is, but first you must return to the uh.... ground below this... tower? And go east. Only then will you find the dragon... nasty he may be."
The hiker nodded and rubbed his beard. "Very well then, Gatekeeper of the Dragon's Secrets. I will battle you first!"
"Oh, Arceus," Alastair sighed. "Potato?"
The dog barked and got ready. Fighting in such a small area was going to be difficult but doable. The man tossed out a pokeball and a little Sunkern came out. Without wasting a moment, Potato charged in with a Bite and then a Howl right after. He jumped to the side of the Sunkern's Grass Whistle and used Bite again.
Alastair watched the two Pokemon fight before looking at the hiker. He was holding something in his hand.
"Can I see that?" he asked as he took it. He unwrapped it and then sighed. "This isn't all... know what? Never mind, you seem to be having fun. But stop picking cactus flowers and adding them. It'll just make the hallucinations worse."
"Why?" the hiker asked. Alastair rubbed his forehead.
"Well, first off that's an unbalanced mixture, and second off if you are this deep into your fantasy then you have had waaaaay too much. But in terms you might understand at this moment: because the dragon made them poisonous."
The hiker gave a wise nod and took the item back from Alastair. Alastair wiped his hands on his pants and looked back to Potato. The Sunkern went down to one more bite. The puppy whined and shook the Leech Seed off of him.
The hiker recalled his Pokemon and picked up his tools. "Farewell!" he said as he climbed back down the tower. Alastair watched him for a few moments.
"You know, back in my day, you would think cereal was hot instead of this."
Potato looked up at him. Alastair shrugged. "Never understood the need for that stuff. You can get the same effect from jumping off of a tall building with a parachute." He sat back down and sighed. Now to wait for the birds to come back while there was still daylight.

He settled back in for his nap. The birds seemed tentative to come back after the disturbance, so Alastair was intent on enjoying a nice outdoor nap. Potato seemed just as inclined, except something caught his eye. The man had dropped something. Potato got up and wandered over to it. He took it in his jaws and then dropped it onto Alastair's lap.
Alastair picked up the stone. Huh, and everstone? Nope. He put it in his pocket and settled back in. Potato, with a job well done, did the same. It would be too cold that night for any bugs to bother them, and Alastair had a jacket at any rate. Potato was fine with sleeping outside. It would make for a nice nap. After being in doors while Alastair healed, the puppy was beginning to get antsy.

The morning was slow. Alastair had woken up at about three in the morning and went to go take a shower. After that he wasn't able to fall asleep again, so he stayed up to do some reading. By the time it was six, his stomach had begun to growl. So, he ordered some room service. Potato was having a wonderful time looking for anything to play with, and eventually he had wandered into the closet Alastair neglected to use. The puppy trotted out shortly after with a stone. Alastair took it and tossed it towards his bag. He would have to deposit these items at some point. Carrying so many rocks got tiring.
Alastair got up when there was a knock at the door. He happily took his meal, and the meals for his Pokemon, and sat down at the little breakfast table. He released the rest of his team, having placed their meals around the room, and then turned on the television to watch the news. He could feed the birds later that day.
