In recent years the region of Orre has had a rise in its pokemon population, allowing for greater opportunities in capturing wild pokemon. Some things never change though, you're still more likely to encounter a trainer or have a trainer try to knock you out so they can get a pokemon before you do so be careful out there.
[break][break]
Here on MDH your chance of capture relies most heavily on the level of the pokemon you are trying to capture, so be wary of your choice in balls.

In order to capture a pokemon you must battle it, however the pokemon does not have to faint to be captured nor does it have to be close to fainting. So long as you have done something to weaken it you may attempt capture.
[break][break]
The only exception to this is in the case of befriending a pokemon, read further for its limitations.
[break][break]
Failing to battle, faint or weaken a pokemon will result in an automatic failure of capture and the pokemon will flee.

Befriending pokemon is allowed but you may only do so once per thread, no exceptions. Once you've befriended a pokemon you may not do so again for that thread.
[break][break]
Stay mindful of the highest leveled pokemon on your main team (the ones you put in your profile), you may not befriend a pokemon that is higher than the highest level in your main team.
[break][break]
So long as these two things are kept in mind there are no restrictions in how your character befriends a particular pokemon. It's up to you.

With the exception of befriending a pokemon you will write out your character battling the wild pokemon like normal until it is incapacitated or otherwise in a weakened state and would be valid for capture. You will, at the end of this make note of your character throwing a pokeball at the pokemon. Please make note in your OOC/Battle recap what the pokeball was, this is important. At the bottom of the post you will roll a dice by hitting the dice button and a small window will pop up asking you for a range to put in for the dice, please change the 10 to a 4 then confirm. When you post it will turn out like this:[break][break]
2i_OJYCQ1-4
[break][break]
When a staff member makes their next spawn post for you they will determine whether or not you caught the pokemon based on your dice roll, the level of the pokemon you are capturing and what type of pokeball you are using to capture it.
[break][break]
DO NOT EDIT YOUR POST WITH A DICE ROLL FOR ANY REASON UNTIL A STAFF MEMBER POSTS AFTERWARDS CONFIRMING THE RESULTS OF THE ROLL. this is the prevent people from trying to edit, delete the roll and post with a new one for a better outcome. Once a staff member has posted and stated the roll results you are free to edit the post but not until then. Failing to wait for this will render your roll invalid and the capture will fail by default regardless of the results of the roll.
[break][break]
If you fail to capture a wild pokemon it will flee* and you will have to wait for another to show up to capture it.

{*Yes we know the logic doesnt work 100%}This is a moment where a need for a function in the system trumps the logic of it for the system's sake. We're fully aware that if you fail to capture a fainted pokemon its not going to be able to flee but that's how the system is going to work.
