Shadow Pokémon and Pokémon have no visual difference from each other, the reason that they are called Shadow Pokémon are that they are being used for wrongful acts because they had the doors to their hearts shut artificially, a process created and carried out by originally by Cipher who got thwarted by a young man and his female partner and now CipherEX have continued their work. These pokemon can only be detected by their aura with the usage of a special indicator. This item may be obtianed from a Hero or CipherEX to see Shadow Pokemon and catch them.

Shadow pokemon are caught two ways: in the wild, and in a trainer battle. In the wild all character classes may catch shadow pokemon as long as they have an indicator given to them by a hero, cipher or npc. Please make sure that when you receive your indicator you change the section in the mini profile to yes, for snag machines you must join hero/cipher as a grunt or higher. You will not be given a chance to roll a shadow pokemon if this slot for indicator is not selected as yes. During trainer battles cipher and hero alignments may catch shadow pokemon from trainers as long as they have a snag machine. Depending on which alignment you are you may only catch them from certain trainers: if you are cipher you may steal them from any trainer, if you are a hero you may only steal from CipherEx. At this time the chances for a shadow pokemon appearing is 10% (please note that if you are rolled positive for a shadow pokemon staff will make sure the correct trainer is given to you if you are a hero).

{When can we get our indicator?} You may have your indicator at any time including when you are apping your character. You may also gain your indicator during IC with another player's character or OOC with an npc CipherEX or Hero. The staff just ask that you keep in mind that your character would have gained the indicator from one of these two in some form.

Purifying Shadow Pokemon
Purifying Shadow Pokemon
[attr="class","mdh-v2-info-main-text"]
At this time there is no way to actually purify a shadow pokemon completely. This was normally done by going to Agate village to the shrine, but at this time the shrine is in ruins. The first part to purifying a shadow pokemon is to compete 6 solo mod pages (much like friendship) where the pokemon must be used at least 2 times per page (if you have more than one page). Please make sure to track this by putting Closed Heart: 1/6 at the bottom of your thread. For Cipher you may receive pokemon whose hearts are opened slightly, this works in the opposite effect and you may close their hearts in the same method.

When catching or stealing Shadow Pokemon from a trainer or in the wild, they will be treated as a wild capture.. Meaning you should follow the same rules of catching a shadow pokemon as you would for a wild pokemon, level and ball used to capture them. Please keep in mind to see and catch shadow pokemon you must have an indicator and to steal a pokemon from another trainer you must have a snag machine. You may steal shadows from other player's characters if both players consent. All normal catching rules apply in any of these instances.
