Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

Right... food, water, and some other items. Stocking up was boring, especially before heading out into the desert. Where did he have to go? Oh! The canyon, that's right. He might as well prepare now. The desert wasn't really a challenge, not for him. Hell, he grew up training Zebstrika in one! The only issue with Orre's desert was that it was much, much bigger and more... empty. The desert near Nimbasa city was filled with construction work and when you got close to the Desert Resort you just ran into a lot of sandy hills. Needless to say, this desert was less sand and more rock and dirt. But a desert was a desert. Hot during the day and cold at night.
He had recalled August into her pokeball while he wandered around the town, carrying a few shopping bags. A few thugs that tried to rob him found out what the inside of a dumpster smelled like first hand, though. Alfredo still had a glint of pride in her eyes. She had decided to nestle on Alastair's shoulder, staring behind him and scanning the area for any danger. She was sent from his mother's to be a guardian and by Arceus she would be.
"What am I missing, Alfredo?" Alastair asked her. The Espurr gave a meow and waved a paw around, saying something that went into one ear and out the other. Alastair stopped walking and stood there in a dumb silence. Why did he ask his Pokemon questions when he couldn't understand a word they said? Alfredo gave a sigh and jumped down from his shoulder and pointed into a store. Oh, yeah, medical supplies was important. "Thanks."
She levitated back onto his shoulder and continued to keep watch. Once Alastair got everything he needed with what money he had, he left the shop and sighed. He was hungry. Alfredo jumped off of his shoulder again and grabbed his pants leg. She lead him over to a shop and studied the menu. Well, the prices were reasonable. Alfredo clawed her way back up to Alastair's shoulder this time and once again began to stare at everyone, daring them to make a move she didn't like.
She only stopped when Alastair sat down outside and took her off of his shoulder. He placed her in front of a small pastry. Alfredo ate it slowly, making sure Alastair ate his own meal. She pointed out the parts he was eating around. He needed to eat everything on the plate, for his health.

Alfredo had decided to take a short walk while Alastair got some work done during their break. She was sure he would be fine for a short while, it wasn't like he was out of her view. She looked behind her and spotted him working at the table, pouring over some research with that focused expression on his face. His black-frame glasses settled firmly on his face. Why he even wanted to go out in the desert at all was beyond her, but she wasn't going to ask. He had always been a little on the odd side.
She continued with her walk, strutting around and staring at people and Pokemon as they passed. Her paw hit something in the middle of her walk and she looked down. Huh, odd. She picked it up and walked back over to Alastair. She tugged on his pants and levitated the item up to him.
"Oh? Where you find this?" he asked. Alfredo shrugged. Like she knew where it came from. It was just on the ground. Alastair put the net ball into his bag and Alfredo sighed. She climbed into his lap and sat there, bored out of her mind. Research was boring, but at least the worst thing that could happen to Alastair was a paper cut.

The hiss was unnatural. Alastair had looked down at Alfredo in minor shock. That was... huh. He had never heard her hiss before. Usually she was such a kind, sweet, gentle kitty.
"What's up?" he asked her, petting her head. Alfredo looked up at him and gave a cry before pointing with her paw. He looked over and noticed a Growlithe. It was eating some trash. "Wait. I thought you like dogs. You get along with Potato."
Alfredo rolled her eyes. Humans. She jumped off his lap and hissed again at the dog. She didn't like this mutt. Potato was usually clean. This one was filthy! Just look at that fur! The Growlithe barked at her and let out a growl. Alfredo took a step back. Well, the dog looked scarier when ti was baring its fangs.
"Whoa, alright, let's just calm-"
The dog spat out several embers at Alfredo. The cat levitated above the attack before lowering herself to the ground again. She held out her paws and gave a shrill cry, lifting the dog off the ground and slamming them back against the cobblestones.
The Growlithe yelped and struggled up. He bared his fangs and charged. He bit Alfredo on the paw, yanking her around like a rag doll before tossing her away. Alfredo skidded along the dirty cobblestones. She stood up, brushed off her fur, and gave a deep yawn. Soon after, the Growlithe yawned too, already showing signs of fatigue. Alfredo then charged and scratched the dog on the nose, blood spurting from it. The Growlithe stepped back and yelped, trying to wipe his nose with his paws. Alastair gave Alfredo a dirty look.
"Play fair!" he told her. Alfredo gave him a look. It was bad enough having to rush such a scary dog, besides, what if it had rabies and gave them to Alastair? How would she explain his death to his mother? She couldn't. She was an Espurr.
Alfredo watched the dog, deciding to stay back. The Growlithe looked like it was about to pass out. She gave a soft murr and tugged on Alastair's pants leg. Alright, they could leave now. Threat nullified.
Until Alastair tossed the pokeball. Alfredo let out a sigh. Why? What did he need another dog for? She watched the pokeball, hoping it would burst open and the dog would run away or something. Oh, how she hoped.

Alastair smiled when the Pokemon was caught. The ball soon vanished, having been transported to the PC system. Good, one less thing to worry about. Alfredo didn't seem too happy, but oh well. Alastair scooped her up and tickled her belly.
"Come on, Mrs. Sour-face," he purred at her, "Smile!"
Alfredo was not amused, but she did give a loud meow. She clawed her way up to his shoulder and sat there, putting her nose up defiantly. Alastair sighed and went back to where he was sitting to clean up the mess he left. He put his trash in the trash can and placed the plates and cups in their proper container before leaving a tip in a tip jar. Now, what else did he need while he was here?
"I should probably pick up some of that stuff," he muttered to himself. Alfredo gave a murf in response. He planned to stay in the desert for a while, which meant he had to be ready to be out there. That included some stuff he could make with only a little bit of water. He forgot to grab any. But it was rather expensive. Oh well, he was sure he could afford a small portion of it.

Alright, he had plenty of the horrible tasting ration packs. There, that should do it for most supplies. He had plenty of wrappings and medicine for his Pokemon, enough for himself, more or less. Was there anything else he needed? The last thing he wanted was to be stuck in the desert without something he needed.
Well, he was pretty sure he had everything. No harm in walking around until something came to mind, or at least until the sun started to set. Getting started traveling at sunset was easier than in the day. Less heat meant more ground covered, and since he would be using a Ponyta for his travels, she wouldn't get cold too easily.
"Hey!"
The man didn't even have time to tap Alastair on the shoulder before Alfredo was upon the man, hissing a spitting. Alastair grabbed the cat and held her firm.
"Alfredo! Stop!" he hissed at her. Alfredo calmed down, but the deep growl in her throat was a signal enough that the man shouldn't try to touch Alastair again. "I'm so sorry," Alastair said to the man, "she's just really overprotective."
The man gave a hearty laugh. "That's why I wanted to talk to you! I saw her fighting that Growlithe earlier and it got my Nidoran all riled up!" He looked down, his Nidoran at his ankle. The poison bunny gave a soft cry in agreement. "I've been training him while I sight see everything the Orre region has to offer!"
Alfredo hissed at the bunny. "So... you want to fight her?"
"Yup!"
Alastair considered his options. Well... why the hell not. What else was he going to do until sunset?
He let Alfredo down and took a few steps back. Already, anyone around them parted in an unknown rule of: give battling Pokemon space. A few people stopped in their daily activities to size up the battle and then moved on. Battles were so common they seemed to have lost some of their flare.
"Poison Sting!" the man ordered. The Nidoran charged, moving quickly along the cobblestones.
"Stop it with Psychic!"
Alfredo let out a shrill meow and raised her paws. She pushed back against the charging Nidoran and was able to halt the bunny, holding it above the ground with its paws continuing to move. Alfredo moved her paws to one side, the bunny following, she then quickly moved her paws to the other side, slamming the bunny into a dried up fountain. The Nidoran shook himself off and gave a defiant cry.
"Leer then Double Kick!"
The Nidoran rushed Alfredo, shooting her a glare that caused her to visibly shiver. Then the rabbit spun around and slammed his back paws into her stomach twice. He aimed for a third hit, but Alfredo backed up, holding her stomach.
"Yawn and Psychic!" Alastair ordered. Alfredo let out a loud yawn. Before long, the Nidoran yawned too. As soon as it closed its mouth, Alfredo lifted the rabbit off the ground again before slamming him back down with all the strength she had. The Nidoran got back up.
"Poison Sting!"
"Roll out of the way!"
Alfredo rolled, but the horn nicked her leg. She stood up after struggling on how to deal with the wound. Alastair watched her intently, a hand moving to his bag just in case. She shook herself and gave a loud meow. No poison. They wouldn't get lucky like that again. This battle had to be wrapped up.
"Psychic! And hit it hard!" Alastair ordered. Alfredo did as told and lifted the rabbit, raising it as high as her power would let her before she slammed it down as fast as she could. Dirt rose from the cobblestones, but the Nidoran didn't get up. It was fast asleep, even after dealing with the hit.
"Wake up, Nidoran!" The man called. The bunny continued to slumber.
"Finish it off with another Psychic!"
Alfredo extended her psychic powers once more and hit the bunny hard enough to send him flying. A cold knock out.
The man stayed to talk for a short while, but soon made his way to a Pokemon center. Alastair carefully wrapped up Alfredo's small scratch and continued walking around the town. She didn't need any healing right then, but that didn't mean he couldn't take care of her.
