Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

Archer had been out here for the sake of a dog pokemon but he really wasn't all that interested. So why had he come? Maybe he would find something else here, so the grunt had absently strolled around the canyon. Maybe something else would be worth his attention for a little bit or maybe a battle he could do that too. The grunt had just lit a cigarette and had taken a long drag of it when he felt a pokeball at his side start to move slightly. Hmm? The grunt moved his hand to his side feeling for the pokeball and pulling it from his belt to enlarge it. Ah.. absol, what could absol want? Knowing its ability to sense bad things archer let the pokemon out as it didn't even look at archer.
Instead its head swivled aroudn looking up at the canyon walls. Hmm? Maybe a rock slide was going to happen soon, that could be it, but Archer wasn't one hundred percent. Absol started to make a lot of noise and moving really weirdly. Archer pulled the cigarette out of his mouth letting out smoke. "Do you want to go? Go on Absol." he said as the pokemon looked at him before it suddenly took up bouncing from rocks to rocks going up the mountain. Only then did Archer look up and see something that looked like a human on the rocks. No one would be that stupid right? The man started to move closer but the closer he got the more it definitly was a human and absol was closing in just as he noticed a hand slip.
Absol just happened to be close enough to catch the other under his back. and jump safely to the other rock instead of the guys death. Honestly, when was it Archer's job to save people? Still the man moved absently to where the absol would come back to the ground to let the man safely climb from the back of the creature. "You okay?" he asked pulling the cigarette out of his mouth. "It was absol that sensed you needed help i didn't even see you.

Your life is your own, okay?
Some amount of words for Archer Velm He's fiiiine.... well, physically speaking.
Sometimes he regretted his choices. For example, Alastair regretted one family dinner when he ate too many mashed potatoes and got sick. Or that time he went to a fair and didn't realize the carnie hadn't strapped him into the seat of the coaster. Now THAT was a fun experience, if not terrifying. In fact, Alastair had stared illness and Death in the face many, many times. At that exact moment in time, he was sure Death was working a crossword puzzle, just waiting for Alastair's arms to fill with lactic acid.
Funny how muscles form. Lactic acid breaks down the muscle fibers, which causes the burning sensation and the weakness in the arms shortly after exercise. Then, the body begins to build the muscles back up with even more tolerance to the lactic acid than before--which results in soreness. Wait a few more days--or keep breaking down your muscles--and BOOM! Stronger body. At the moment, Alastair wasn't quite sure he would end up having any new muscles, especially if he ended up dead. But, hey, he would be a good meal for a few wild Pokemon. Probably. Maybe.
Speaking of Pokemon, he wishes he brought Alfredo along. Or maybe Leap. Or... anyone really. But nope. They were back at the camp. "I'm just going for a walk," he said. "I'll be back soon," he said. "I'll be fine," he said.
He tried to pull himself up, but his hands were too slippery for that. Damn the heat. Damn sweat. And damn... whatever else was bothering him at that moment. Alastair let out a breath. Well, he rock climbed before. Given that was in a controlled environment with a safety belt and harness with a trained professional. But people do free climbing all the time! And he would rather die putting forth and effort to save himself than just hanging there.
With his last bit of effort, and a resolve to maybe not die, Alastair tried again to lift himself up. His hand slipped against the rock and--welp, he had a good run. A good life. Adrenaline rushed through Alastair's veins. He almost wanted to laugh past the terror. Yeah, what was he going to do, fight the rock wall? Run on thin air?
No, none of that, but he would have a sharp pain in his back. Instinctively, Alastair gripped whatever it was he landed on. Alastair opened his eyes, not realizing he had squeezed them shut during his fall. He slipped off the Absol's back, body shaking and his thoughts running a mile per minute, trying to make sense of what just happened. The first thing he noticed was that his hands were bloody from gripping rough rock for so long, and the tops of them had been mildly scorched by the sun. At least he remembered sun screen that morning.
He sat down and stared off into a daze. He almost didn't hear anything the guy said, but he did catch the word 'Absol'. Alastair blinked a few times before looking at the dog Pokemon. "Hey," he said. "Remind me to cook you a big dinner."
Alastair stood up, his legs still shaking from the rush of epinephrine and cortisol. Ah, yes, either Alastair would be fine, or immunosupression awaited him. He tried to fight past the initial daze, feeling sick to his stomach at the thought of what just happened. Alastair was used to close calls but... not that close.
"I'm alright," he said, but who was he trying to convince? "I should... get back to everyone." He couldn't move his legs. The fear of the whole situation had finally struck him. Talk about a delayed response. Curse him and his optimistic nature! Likewise, he couldn't quite remember what direction camp was in. This wasn't good. maybe if he waited, Potato or someone would start to look for him. He gripped his stomach. All right, he couldn't puke in front of someone, that wasn't attractive or proper.
"Have you seen a Ponyta... or an Espurr... by any chance?" he asked. He couldn't list off his whole team. As much as he loved to show off his Pokemon, now was not the time.

The first thought of this guy was that Archer truly believed he was crazy. He hadn't brought his pokemon nor had he actually had climbing gear of any kind. It was almost like he had a death warrant on himself. So when he slid up absol Archer could see the shock he was going through whether he wanted to admit it to himself or not was besides the point. Instead the grunt just let him speak as he grabbed a cloth out of his bag to try and gently wipe the blood out of the absol's white fur from his hand. Still.. he wasn't a horrible and while he was getting it out offered a small peice of cloth for him as well. "I don't have any medication but you should probably wrap your hands. I can do it if you'd like since your hands are messed up, or if you dont' want me touching you you can either way." he said quietly.
Archer felt a bit better however when the boy said that he would feed absol for being the one that saved him. Archer guessed he wasnt as bad as he had originally thouht. He obviously cared about pokemon, though he found ghe was a horrible liar. "You are not alright, and you shouldn't be getting up." he said calmly as he finished with absol. Archer sighed and silently moved to him gently grabbing his upper arm to gently help the other sit down. "You are in shock, and you need to sit down for a moment." he said before reaching into his pack to dig around once more before pulling out a bottle of water. "You should drink this, you've been up there a while from the damage to your hands. You're dehydrated." it wasn't a question, as the grunt opened the bottle to hand it to him.
"Neither... but i'm sure once you are more stable I can help you find them." he said moving to sit down himself as he put out his cigarette on a rock and throwing it in a bag he kept his butts in. Absol came and laid down against him now his soft fur a nice pillow, but archer sighed and moved his hand towards Al. "Go sit next to him he needs you more than me." he said softly as the absol moved quietly to do as his trainer asked of him. "My name is Archer if that matters any."

Alastair accepted the cloth and wiped his hands, giving the scratches and scrapes a brief glance. Eh, they would heal. He would heat up some water in order to sterilize the wounds whenever he got back to camp. He would also have to replace this cloth. Alastair was sure he had some, after all, he had to have things to cover the various woulds he would get while out in the field.
He didn't argue when he was helped back down. Sitting was probably a good idea. "I have medicine back at camp," he said, squeezing his eyes shut. He tried to force the nausea down. Alastair opened his eyes when he heard the other man talk, and then heard a bottle being opened.
Oh? Well, wasn't that nice. Alastair took the water shyly, almost as if he wasn't supposed to be taking it. He wasn't going to deny it, but if this guy didn't have any more water then... well, Alastair knew where some barrel plants were that were filled with the stuff. "Thanks," he mumbled, taking a small sip. Arceus he wanted to gulp the whole bottle down, but he had to control himself.
"Oh... I'm sure they'll start looking for me soon." He looked at his watch. "I was supposed to be back... about twenty minutes ago." Well, he hoped they would come look for him. At least Alfredo might. She wanted to come but she had already stayed up really late keeping watch. The poor thing needed her rest. Alastair was not about making his Pokemon work too hard. They already had to deal with him.
When the Absol approached, Alastair held out his hand. "Hey, thanks again for saving my tail," he said softly. What a beautiful Pokemon. Maybe not as good as his Potato, but beautiful none-the-less. He lowered his hand, not having enough strength to keep it up for too long. "Nice to meet you, Archer," he said, "I'm Alastair." He didn't think it was necessary to explain anything at that moment. Not what he was doing on the rock face or what he was even doing out in the desert. Besides, all Alastair wanted was to get back to camp. And he had to worry about dinner.
A familiar bark reached his ears. Alastair sat up a little straighter and arched his head in the direction of the barking. He smiled when he saw the golden dog come into view. The little Poochyena was running as fast as his legs would carry him. The puppy came to a halt when he finally realized Alastair wasn't alone. Potato carefully made his way over to Alastair, trying to move around the Absol while keeping his eyes on the stranger.
"This is Potato," Alastair said, rubbing the dog's ears. "Where are the others? Safe?" Alastair asked the puppy. Potato gave a bark. He smiled. "I'll take that as a yes." He looked up at Archer. "Hey, could you help me back to camp? I have to get started making dinner. You don't need to help, of course, but I do owe your Absol a hot meal. And you too, if you want." He really just wanted to get back and assure Alfredo he was alright. He could only imagine the argument between her and Potato. The dog probably figured he could track Alastair better than her.

Archer kept a close eye on him as he watched him wipe at his hands. Honestly, he had never seen someone get so careless at what they were doing, but this guy seemed to top the marks. Instead Archer just let him do what he wanted and simply nodded when he said that he had medicine back at his camp. So he was camping out here in the canyon, he wondered how he actually survived the heat. "I'd be careful you don't die of heat out here." he said with a sigh. Still this was his decision and Archer really had no reason to tell him no he couldn't it wasn't like he knew this guy.
Archer nodded and gave what he hoped was his best smile. "You're welcome, but you don't have to hold back, I can imagine you're pretty thirsty." he said. Eh, he wasn't used to this sickly cute crap, at least not this much in one sitting. He wasn't sure what was what he wanted to do and what was the act he was putting on. Did he really have genuine concern for this guy? Archer only tuned back in when he said his pokemon would be looking for him. "You seem like the type your pokemon would genuinely care." he said absently. It wasn't a lie so he expected them to come or him to help find them.
When he held up his hand Absol moved its horn there accepting his touch and affection. As he curled around the injured human to try and make him as comfortable as he could. "Alastair, you should be more careful, especially without your pokemon." he said. Honestly, this was the part where other grunts would try to mug the guy but looking at him.. there was nothing worth stealing. Archer didn't want to steal from him anyway... kid had enough of a rough day without that. Archer glanced up at the bark and squinted some as the golden dog came into view and archer just stared for a moment. "A shiny Poochyena." he said calmly as he grabbed for one of his pokeballs.
"That's... interesting.." he said enlarging his pokeball before releasing its contents. Another shiny poochyena emerged but this one was female and a bit smaller than the others pokemon. "I have one too." he said as the female moved barking at the other to try and sniff over him to find out what he was doing. She hadn't seen any like her after all, and that was super cool. Archer listened when the other asked if he could help and absol did seem to like him. "Alright... I can do that at least. You can ride absol if you want.. you probably shouldn't be walking as it is."
Archer stood up now grabbing another cancer stick and lighting it with a lighter from his pocket. He took a drag before releasing some smoke. "We should hurry before it gets too dark."

A hearty laugh escaped Alastair. It wasn't demeaning or an insulting laugh, but a genuine one that graced his feathers, his eyes sparkling. "Man, I can't tell you how many times I've been told that," he said with a happy sigh. "Surprised I'm not dead yet, in all honestly." He didn't think the statement needed explaining. He carefully sipped some more of the water. Alastair had a deep desire to go onto a long explanation for why one shouldn't drink water too fast, or eat too fast, after being without basic nutrients, but he decided against it.
Alastair gently pet the Absol. It looked very well cared for. Alastair wondered, briefly, if Archer would be willing to assist in some basic research. After all, there might be a strong bond Alastair wasn't seeing with the two. He perked up and came out of his thoughts when Archer spoke again. Alastair gave a shy and timid smile. Yeah, he knew.
"Yeah, I really should huh?" He rubbed the back of his head. He honestly didn't remember what had possessed him to climb up the rock wall anyway. Something had peaked his curiosity and, instead of controlling it, Alastair charged for it. It was a problem. His self-control when it came to his curiosity was horrible.
Shiny Poochyena? Alastair perked up at that, happy his dog was there, but also a little curious. When Archer released his own golden pup, Alastair's couldn't help but let a large smile come across his features. "Awesome! You have a golden pup, too!" Potato seemed to be even more surprised than Alastair was. He stood there frozen, debating on being protective and growling or being welcoming and sniffing the other dog. Potato decided to be welcoming and gave a happy dark to the female puppy and sniffed her all over, making sure he memorized her scent so he could recognize her again.
Alastair waved a hand. "Nah, I'll rest when I'm dead. Besides," he said, standing up, "walking will help me get over the shock. I just need to make sure I don't fall." That was a real threat. He was sure he had enough energy to walk there but... just in case he would prefer a human be near by instead of a pup. "How far is it, Potato?" he asked the dog. Potato looked up at him and whined before seeming to give it a lot of thought. The time it was taking the pup to answer the question made Alastair's heart drop. "Wow, I must have walked a long way." Potato whined and gave a short burst towards the direction the camp was in before stopping, wagging his tail. No point in waiting any longer. He gave another timid smile at the stranger. "Thanks again... for saving my life and helping out." Well, a better thank you would come later with a large dinner. Alastair was set on it.
