Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

Alastair was looking at his watch, trying to judge how long it had been since he had been by the shop to outfit August. Not too long. At least the town was pretty enough. Beautiful flowers, a nice river and--
SMACK!!
Alastair rocket back and stumbled, falling on his backside. The thing that hit his head fell in his lap. Alastair rubbed his forehead and looked down. Oh? Was it a sort of pokeball? He looked at Monday. The fish looked proud. Alastair rubbed the algae off of the pokeball. Yeah, it was some sort of pokeball. Alastair flinched and lightly touched his forehead. Welp... there was going to be a whelp there. "Good... job, Monday..." Alastair said, standing up. He put the pokeball in his bag. It probably still worked. He would find out later.
Monday snapped his jaws and gave a happy growling sound. Alastair smiled. He didn't have the heart to tell his Pokemon that hurt. Witha woozy head, Alastair kept going until he found a nice rock to sit on by the river. He plopped down and continued to gently rub his head. Ugh, the headache was getting bad...

Monday was in a tizzy and Alastair couldn't figure out why. The fish was splashing around. Alastair rubbed his head and then looked at the flowers. Yeah, they were golden in color and-- oh. It was a puppy. The dog looked up at Alastair, tongue hanging out of its mouth. Its tail began to wag.
"Hey, buddy, how are-" Alastair said, Monday charging onto land for a Bite, his pokeball responding to gather water around him. The dog went skidding. "Monday!" Alastair shouted. The dog responded with a Tackle, slamming into Monday and growling. It turned to Alastair, and barked happily, wagging its tail. Oh... oh dear. Monday gave a sort of growling screech in anger and charged again, hitting the dog. Alright that was enough!
Alastair grabbed the fish, wincing at the feeling of the sand paper skin on his hands. Monday stopped and looked up at him, the water making his eyes look bigger than they were. "Stop, Monday! I don't think he's dangerous!" Monday swam away from Alastair and growled at the dog. Alastair watched the fish carefully before reaching a bleeding hand out to the dog. "Hey, buddy."
The injured dog limped forward and sniffed Alastair's hand. Alastair wiped the blood off on his pants. Nah, he would have to wrap them up. The puppy jumped on Alastair, wagging its tail fast. Well, wasn't he friendly? Alastair got out a pokeball, tapping the injured dog on the head. Sure, Monday was going to count the battle as a win, but to Alastair, no one really won. He put the pokeball down and watched it roll. Maybe the dog wanted to be a friend?

The pokeball stopped shaking. Alastair scooped it up. Great! He had a puppy now! He thought about a name... well the dog was golden. Like a baked potato. Potato! That would be the name of the new Pokemon. Alastair smiled and put the pokeball on his hip. Soon after, someone had struck the back of his head hard. Alastair gave a shout of surprise and turned. A young woman, with her face red with rage, was glaring at him.
"That was my Pokemon!" she yelled at him. Alastair blinked.
"I'm sorry, but how was it yours? I was able to catch it..."
She pulled her hand back and the sound of a palm hitting a cheek filled the area. It attracted some attention from some other people wandering around. Alastair bit his lip. He wasn't going to fight back. He didn't like hitting people. Then again, he also didn't like getting hit.
"I was hunting it!" she yelled at him. "Do you have any idea what you have? It's a shiny Poochyena."
"Shiny?" Alastair mumbled. "All I know is that it is a Pokemon and its mine now."
The woman snorted, but wasn't able to raise her hand again or yell. Monday charged at her, forcing her to back away. He snapped his jaws at her viciously, giving a low hissing noise. "Fine." She got out a pokeball. "We'll fight for it! If I win, you hand over that pokeball!"
"And if I win you apologize for hitting me," Alastair. "That's not very nice you know!" The girl rolled her eyes and tossed out the pokeball, a snake landing on the flowers. It hissed and flicked out its tongue. Monday snapped his jaws.
"Bite!" Alastair ordered, the fish charging forward, clamping his jaws down on the snake. The Serviper reared back in pain. Monday ripped his jaws off and darted around the snake, the water from the pokeball trying its best to keep up.
"Bite!" the young woman said. The snake darted forward, but Monday got out of the way, rounding with another Bite of his own. The snake, hurt from the two bites, finally clamped its jaws down on Monday, but soon let go and recoiled back. The tough skin of Monday had damaged the sensitive mouth.
The girl growled. Alastair gave her a kind, but worried look. Why was she so angry? Not only that, but his cheek hurt. A lot.
"Wrap!" she said, the snake darting to wrap around Monday, coiling tightly around him. The snake hissed in pain as the rough skin dug into its smooth scales. Monday began to struggle, digging his rough skin deeper into the snake's body until it had to let go a few seconds later. The damage was getting too much from just making physical contact. "Swagger!" she said.
"Dodge then Bite!" Monday did as told and darted away from the snake's attempts to use Swagger, then darted for a Bite. The snake recoiled back again.
"Bite!" she said. The Serviper Bit again, but recoiled back once more at the effects of the rough skin. Monday looked at Alastair, getting a nod. He then darted, biting the snake one final time. The Pokemon fainted. In anger, the girl recalled the Pokemon and released her last Pokemon, a Clefairy.
Alastair recalled Monday, the fish able to rest some inside the pokeball. The last thing Alastair wanted to do was to send August out, but she was probably stronger than this pink thing.
"August! Get ready!" Alastair said as he tossed out the pokeball. August burst forth and landed on the ground, looking at the Pokemon. She glanced behind her and at the sight of Alastair's bruised face, her flames grew brighter. Oh... oh no.
"Use Sing!"
"Hit it to stop the singing!" Alastair said. The Clefairy took in a breath, but before it could let out the song, August had charged forward with a tackle. The Clefairy was sent rocketing back and August stomped her hooves and reared up. The Clefairy got up and shook itself off.
"Healing Wish!" The Clefairy took in a breath and sighed, a glow coming from it. The wish was made. It would be granted soon. Alastair cursed under his breath. They had to take out this thing before it had a chance to heal itself.
"Ember!" he said, the Ponyta spouting out hot embers. The Clefairy flinched and shivered at a burn.
"Pound!" the Clefairy charged, slapping August's side hard with its palm. The pony neighing in pain. In response, she spat out more hot embers, the Clefairy shivering from the attack and the burn again.
Then the wish was granted, but it didn't seem to fully heal the Clefairy.
"Pound again!" the woman said. The Clefairy charged but August stepped back, then tackled the Pokemon.
Eventually, after several more Pounds and Embers, the Clefairy fainted. Alastair whistled for August to come to him, and he sprayed her down with a Potion. That was one. She wouldn't be able to heal from them forever... he wasn't planning to stay here for too long anyway, but he figured why not? Until the saddle was done they weren't going to leave.
"Fine," the woman said in a growl. "You get to keep the mutt. Its probably weak anyway." Alastair narrowed his eyes.
"If strength is all you care about in Pokemon, you'll find you're missing out on a lot." He patted August's muzzle, the pony giving him a pleasant snort. "They are friends. Not tools."
The woman rolled her eyes. "Whatever. You better consider yourself lucky!"
Alastair watched her leave. Well, she was an angry person. He looked at the dog's pokeball. Alastair always considered himself lucky. After all, the fact he was still alive was a miracle in itself. So many things could go wrong in life and... well, Alastair bumped heads with August and sighed. he was lucky to have the Pokemon he did have. No one would convince him otherwise.

A few minutes later, after Alastair had gotten a pack of ice from some kind elderly people, someone else had decided to challenge him to a battle. They were young, excited because they had watched Alastair fight the young woman. Of course, Alastair agreed. That was what one was supposed to do when they were training. They agreed to battle. Alastair was growing weary. he was happy his team was growing stronger, but he had already gotten beat up pretty bad by some people. He felt like he needed a break. Until that saddle was done though... he would have to stick around.
Potato was sent out first, and Alastair made the order for Tackle. The only attack move the puppy knew. Potato barked back at him, tail wagging happily. The trainer sent out a Kakuna. Thus started the battle of tackle, and tackle, and Howl, and Harden.
It started with Potato Howling violently, raising his desire to battle even more. The Kakuna responded with a harden, toughening its shell. Next, Potato Tackled hard, and the Kakuna responded with the same attack. Orders were shouted back and forth, and the whole time, Alastair could feel his head throbbing. The pain getting worse. It had been a long... long day. So long that he almost missed the entire battle. He had shouted commands like the other kid, but the fatigue of getting hit so many times was catching up to him...
The two Pokemon kept at it, Potato taking some hard hits. Eventually, the dog was able to knock out the bug Pokemon after using another Howl, raising his desire to fight even more. The Kakuna went still and the trained recalled it. Alastair blinked. Potato was looking bad. Perhaps sending the dog out to fight right after a capture wasn't the best idea... he recalled the dog and sent out August.
The trainer sent out a Magikarp. A fish. Alastair moaned. No, no, no. A water type was not what he wanted.
"Splash!" the kid said. Alastair winced but... nothing. It didn't do anything. August looked back at him and Alastair nodded. Tackle it till it faints. The pony scrapped her hoof against the dirt and charged, slamming into the fish when it was in the air, knocking it back.
"Tackle!"
And that was how the battle ensued. Tackle, then Tackle. Splash, then Tackle. Alastair felt his head swimming. He honestly felt horrible. He could hear the other trainer trying to call out to him, to make sure he was alright... Alastair nodded. His headache had quickly turned into a migraine.
Eventually, though, he was able to focus back on the battle. August had taken a beating, but the fish looked worse. Using Splash was not a wise move on this kid's part. Alastair ordered another Tackle and August charged, smashing into the fish, fainting it. Finally, the battle was over. Alastair and the kid thanked each other for a nice battle and Alastair rubbed his head. He sat down and rubbed his head. He prayed the saddle would be done soon.

August was the first to notice it. Alastair's head was throbbing too much for him to really notice anything... he knew he had to rest at some place. What all had happened? He hurt his hands on Monday, got hit in the head with a pokeball, got slapped several times.... yeah he really needed a nap and some pain meds. Yet when August gave a cry and tackled something, Alastair was surprised to find that something that was almost completely invisible just a minute ago became visible as it hit the ground. August stomped her hooves and snorted. The Pokemon lifted itself up waved its tail, making August blink and drop her guard some.
"August, use-" Alastair stopped. Fire was building up around her body, then she rushed the Pokemon. It was like a wheel of fire had coated her, and she smashed into the Pokemon, scorching some of the plants around her. Once her attack was done, she stomped out the fire she had started and snorted at the Pokemon. Alastair blinked. Well, that was a new move!
The lizard charged and Licked August, thankfully not paralyzing her. She tackled the Pokemon again, snorting viciously. The Pokemon responded with vanishing and then hitting her with a Feint Attack. Alastair flinched. That move hit hard. August snorted and charged again, the wheel of fire forming around her as she smashed into the Pokemon for a critical hit. The lizard struggled to stand after, and Alastair called August off. The Pokemon, given the chance, fled. August panted and shook herself.
Alastair's cell phone buzzed. He looked at the text message. Hey! The saddle was done! "Come on girl, let's go get you and the others healed, then go try on that saddle." August neighed in response and was happy to be recalled into her pokeball.
