Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

both visually and physically examining the capsule, she noted the warmth the occupied pokeball exuded now that it stored a physical lifeform. she also looked to jasper, a hint of worry in her eyes as she took notice to the bit of damage the machop had been forced to sustain. the pokemon was fine, of course, capable of continuing a while longer despite the discomfort that radiated from the damaged portions of her flesh.
"that's three if i count ya, jasper."
making sure the hitmontop's capsule was situated securely upon her attire they moved on from the pool and went back to aimless wandering. they soon encountered someone who looked like they belonged to the sea, his garments resembling a naval captain's. he produced a pokeball, issuing a challenge to the young female who, at first, quirked a brow at his attire.
"why not? get to it."
jasper entered flat expanse of grass that would serve as their makeshift as some sorta of water-type pokemon was brought forth. it was painfully obvious that it was indeed a water-type due to it looking more like it belonged in a lake or river than on the ground.
"alright, jasper," she called.
the machop flexed her arms, pumping herself up for the oncoming challenge.
"karate chop!"
rushing toward the fish pokemon it soon found itself being flung from its original position, its silvery body flailing about as a pain spread through its form.
"use water gun, remoraid!"
jasper stumbled backward, flailing her arms as she found herself both stung and covered in water. releasing a pained grunt, the female pokemon paused briefly as she struggled to recover from the attack. the psybeam that quickly followed caused her to completely lose her footing, a dizzied expression now upon her face.
"you okay, girl?" beth called, scowling slightly.
"m-machop."
she returned to her feet with some difficulty, her motivation remaining wholly intact despite the enemy's ability to wield such a move.
"use a leer! follow it with a karate chop!"
once the leer had been successfully executed the machop lunged forward. such a breed of water-type weren't renown for their defensive capabilities, and the strong fighter was capable of finishing off the pokemon after delivering a critical blow to the fish's midsection. once it lay limply both jasper and beth snapped their fingers in unison, arrogant looks contorting their faces.
"nice try, old man. maybe next time, yeah?" beth said.
they took their leave, and the young woman stuffed her hands into her trousers again. the sun was just beginning to dip toward the horizon by now. they still had some time left to examine their surroundings - especially since there was still light to be had.
the next pokemon to appear was much more hostile than the last. instead of them approaching it, they merely crossed its path. beth was almost bitten as it lunged from its hiding place, gaping mouth wide and filled with venom.
"h-holy shit!"
the young woman stumbled back and landed on her rear, her limbs flailing awkwardly as she immediately loss her balance. despite the soreness she felt and her scuffed up hands she had managed to dodge the attempted assault, with jasper hurriedly stepping to defend her once she got over being startled.
"that fuckin' hurt," she grunted.
"machop!"
the ekans raised itself, form arched as it sought to intimidate the fighting-type whom dared to face it. the snake managed to make the other pokemon hesitate briefly, a nervous sweat forming upon her brow as she shifted her weight nervously
"m-machop..."
shaking her head and glaring openly at the beast, beth's companion soon delivered a blow upon the wild beast's form, having executed a leer before following it up with a low kick. the snake jerked to the side, a pained noise escaping it before it steadied itself and lunged forward. curling around the humanoid creature, the ekans sought to squeeze and force the air out of jasper's lungs. sensing the deadly intent behind such an action, beth hurried to return to her feet and distanced herself as jasper struggled.
"it's gonna bite again! hit it before it does!"
jasper regained enough focus to catch the ekans as it attempted to savagely bite down upon gray flesh. it was temporarily stunned, offering beth's pokemon ample time to toss the feral creature aside. after consecutive karate chops were delivered the poison-type crumpled, dazed and struggling to cling onto consciousness as its head suffered one too many blows. after a swift kick was delivered upon its form the pokemon was quickly rendered unconscious - un-moving and still. jasper settled upon one knee, struggling to catch her breath after a moment to relishing her victory.
"oooo. ooo shit. are you okay?"
running a hand across its muzzle in exasperation, jasper nodded weakly.
"uh - oh... okay. i guess i should catch it? i gotta poison-type already but - heh - this thing is savage. we could use that to our advantage, huh?"
producing a pokeball, she clicked the button, tossing it at the downed beast.

the next challenger who intended to boast their potential as a trainer invited her to battle with gusto. at first, she hesitated, unsure of if her machop was capable of continuing. but, jasper didn't appear to mind the promise of battle, her eyes gleaming oddly as she peered at the larger fellow.
seeing as she was now dealing with two - a vulpix and bulbasaur to be exact - the young woman decided to introduce another to the field. the recently caught hitmontop bounced from foot to foot, gaze now pinned to the fox whom had visibly bristled at the sight of him.
"hm..."
beth considered deciding the newly acquired fighter's name, only to shake her head. she would simply come up with one sometime later after she was allowed a moment to think. hitmontop lunged forward after she rose a hand and shouted out a command. the pokedex had listed its available attacks earlier that day, and she managed to remember most of them.
"hitmontop! use close combat! jasper! you go for the grass-type. i want a karate chop."
the two lunged forward in unison, and beth felt something akin to surprise over their shared compliance. moments ago they had been combating each other, but they didn't show any signs of displeasure as they stood side by side.
"hit-mon!"
"ma-chop!"
the vulplix found itself flung backwards, sporting a series of fresh bruises while the bulbasaur held fast, baring its pointed teeth threateningly at jasper as he did so. a seed launched itself from its back and wrapped itself around the machop's waist - the vulpix spitting out heated flames that almost engulfed the hitmontop who was standing too close. he sported several burns that looked like they stung fiercely, and jasper was grimacing as she felt her remaining reservoir of energy being drained.
"just ignore it, jasper! if you get rid of the bulbasaur you get rid of that seed!"
resisting that natural urge to claw at herself and the life-draining tendrils that had wrapped around her, machop moved to dispatch the bulbasaur hurriedly. her movements were much more sluggish now, and it was hitmontop who was forced to act as she went still for far too long. the spinning top pokemon finished the job, pausing briefly to observe as the seed fell limply and the grass-type slumped over.
"vulpix! fire spin!"
a torrent of flames surrounded them now, an all-encompassing heat causing the air to grow dry and far too hot for their liking. the vulpix would eventually fall as jasper snarled furiously and executed a newly learned low sweep, catching the fire-type's belly and causing it to black out as soon as it landed roughly upon the ground.
"h-hitmon," the fighting-type panted.
"ma..." jasper replied, eyes falling shut as she struggled to keep her eyes open.
the next battle introduced a few... complications. and it was all related to the fact that jasper's health was dwindling rapidly at this point of time. she was on the edge of unconsciousness when it had begun, unsteady upon her feet as she stood before the eevee and smoochum. hitmontop appeared to be genuinely concerned, his rounded features crinkling to reveal such emotion before he focused upon the battle.
"just spam the shit outta close combat," beth instructed. "jasper. any offensive move should work on these two, alright?"
the battle began and the young woman relished the idea of guaranteed victory. their typing would grant them a severe advantage, and as the fighting-type duo dished out a close combat and low sweep the opposing trainer's pokemon both suffered severe damage. still, they fought back, with the smoochum wielding an ice-type move that caused jasper to stumble and collapse in a messy heap. hitmontop had been chilled considerably, made sluggish as the eevee delivered a fierce tackle that sent him sprawling.
"return, jasper!"
beth was quick to return the fighting-type, producing a recently acquired companion and tossing her into the field. the ekans hissed at the normal-type, the tiny beast freezing as the reptile dribbled messily and approached with malice burning in her narrowed gaze. a poison sting would leave the eevee limp, and another close combat would eventually deal with the baby pokemon.
"good job," beth praised, returning only the ekans into its pokeball. "you - ah - shit, i don't have a name for you, yet. erm... hm. picasso, yeah - you're with me."
the fighting-type merely blinked in response before moving to accompany his mistress as she left the pretty boy to acknowledge his defeat.
he was quiet and alert - remaining focused within the grand environment due to him being somewhat familiar with the area. he remained this way even as beth discovered a stone that was settled among a patch of lush green grasses. it was cold and sported a dark shade of purple. transfixed by it, the young trainer quickly decided that she would keep it within her inventory. brushing off some dirt that had clung to it, she placed the powerful mineral next to the fire stone that she located earlier that day. once all the items were within the confines of her pack, beth peered skyward.
"it's gettin' a bit dark," she commented.
the sun was beginning its ritual task of dipping past the horizon. the sky was brightening up somewhat, but it was obvious such a light would die in a few moments. shaking her head, beth decided she would wield her flashlight if it became necessary. she trusted her fighting-type and herself to remain out of harms way - unafraid of anything that might lurk within the oncoming darkness.
