Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

He was hanging by his fingers, quite literally. The pitch blackness of the basement below enough to make even Alastair scared. That wasn't even the worse part, though. The worse part was that Potato thought Alastair was playing with him, and the puppy was nipping at Alastair's fingers. Alastair took in a breath and lifted himself onto his elbows, hearing the floor boards creak. Potato whined and backed far away.
"Coward," Alastair huffed with effort, trying to pull himself up onto the remaining floor boards of the old library. Finally, he was able to pull himself up and he sat there, panting. Alright... No. He wasn't doing that. Nope nope nope. He got up and left the room, Potato trotting along beside him down the hallway.
Alastair checked his hands. His fingers were bleeding but not too bad. He got into one of the main rooms and flopped down on one of the old chairs, Potato sitting down beside his ankles. The dog whined. Alastair sat there for a good fifteen minutes before he got up. Fine. He would go down to the damn basement. But he was taking the stairs.
He found his way to the door and got out his flashlight. Well... it looked safe? He took a step and then another, slowly making his way down until Potato chased after a mouse. Oh no.
The dog crossed in front of him on the way down and caught Alastair's ankle, making the man tumble down the rest of the wooden stairs, hitting the cement floor with a hard thud. Alastair coughed and gave a groan. That knocked the breath right out of him. He went limp and stared up at the ceiling, then strained his neck back to see where he would have fallen. Yup... there was a hole.
Potato sat on top of him, holding the mouse in his mouth. "Good job," Alastair said. Potato wagged his tail and dropped the mouse, the animal scurrying away. Potato watched it leave and then laid on Alastair. Yes... this was fine... Alastair tried to move and tensed. Yelp... his back was strained so that was always a good thing. He would just... lay here for a few minutes. Take a nap maybe.

He couldn't even remember how he'd ended up stuck in this dreary arceus forsaken tomb of a bygone era. He was bored. He was killing time until something exciting happened. Boredom tended to lead to wondering when all else failed to entertain but nothing here had been remotely entertaining. [break][break] Papers, books, notes, things strewn about from teens daring each other to come and go through the place, that was all he'd found. There hadn't even been any ghost types lurking around for him and the roselia traveling beside him to fight. Boring, so boring. [break][break] And then he saw half a man dangling down from the first floor. Endric had to do a double take, it was the last thing he was expecting in this place. Even had his Roselia look too just to be sure he was seeing this right, she of course just shrugged at him. How was she to know about human things? When the half of a man disappeared back to the upper floor Endric decided to right it off. Probably some kid getting themself screwed over. He returned to scouring the lower level. [break][break] And then he heard someone come crashing down the stairs. [break][break] Endric turned and made his way to the stairs slowly, trying to determine if it was what he thought it was. Lo and behold, it was, a man, laying on the ground around the base of the stairs. Normally he wouldn't have bothered but this seemed a stroke of luck, this could be amusing. [break][break] "Are you alright sir?" he sounded surprisingly concerned, for a guy who didn't really care if the guy was hurt. [break] all reminds me of the kooky geniuses from tv shows. like Sherlock in Elementary.

Some amount of words for Endric Von Ruhan Potato calm down goodness
Alastair was contemplating his life decisions when Potato began to growl. It wasn't like the usual growls he heard. The growl of challenge, of wanting to fight and play at the same time. No. This growl was... what? Protective? He looked at the puppy, the dog's lips pulled so far back from his gums that the pink was seen, the teeth being bared. It was scary, really. The puppy was so adorable just a few minutes ago now he looked like he was possessed. Alastair was about to ask the dog what was wrong when he heard a voice. Alastair strained his head back again. Oh! A person!
"Hello~," he said with a small wave, Potato barking. Alastair gently pushed the angry dog off of him and got up slowly, his back aching with pain. "Yeah, happens all the time." It was not a lie... not at all. Alastair rubbed the back of his head. Potato was still growling, his side pressed up against Alastair's leg. Was it the other guys Pokemon that was the problem? They hadn't seen anyone in this building for a while, perhaps that was it. Yeah, that was it. Potato was just nervous. "Sorry about him, he's a little on the nervous side," Alastair said, taking his gaze away from the growling dog.
So why was this guy here? Alastair shoved his hands in his pockets and gave the guy a careful look over. Looked like some sort of trainer, maybe. "Thanks for checking though. It'll take more than a fall down a flight of stairs to kill me," Alastair said. He meant it. His mother once said Alastair was the type of guy who could take a brick to the head and be fine five minutes later, if not a little woozy. "What are you doing in this place anyway?" he wanted to say 'looks a little dank' but then again, why was Alastair here? For research of course! Was there a reason for anything else?

Endric feigned being a bit startled by the growling pokemon, part of the whole delicate facade and what have you. He was easily set at ease though when the man stood, proving he was alright and at least not hurt too terribly. "Oh good! It sounded like you took quite the tumble there." a little bit of concern could still be heard in his voice. [break][break] What was he doing down here? Good question. "I got lost." generic cover up but rarely questioned too hard. "This place looked interesting and now I can't find my way out so I can get back to town." He was nervously rubbing the back of his head while he spoke with a matching nervous grin. "Hope you're not lost too?" [break][break] While Endric spoke his Roselia came up beside him, nudging her head up under one of his hands so she could stand there under it. No real reason, she just liked being a bit of a goof sometimes. With what could be seen as a smile the plant waved at the new comers from her new spot and even if her trainer wasn't happy to see people she most certainly was. [break] Alastair Rome sorry about the wait
Well, the guy was nice at least. Alastair couldn't fathom while Potato was still growling, the dog's fur spiked up high enough to make him look like a literal ball of puff. The man brushed it off. Oh well, Potato wasn't fond of everyone. Especially after that girl had chased him from who knows where until Alastair found the pup. Potato was a good dog, but Alastair would have to work on how the dog greeted strangers. It wouldn't do to have Potato growling at everyone they met!
The lost comment caught Alastair short and he gave the man a look. "You didn't ask your Pokemon?" he asked. In his experience, Pokemon were the best at finding the way out of some place, especially if they had been with you when you went in. Sure, Alastair had been lost before, but his Pokemon always knew where to go. Even the Pokemon his parents had knew how to get back home. It was a sort of sense they had... and it seemed to improve when the Pokemon cared about someone. Or maybe Alastair just chose the right puppy and always got lucky. Who knew.
He shook his head at the next question and smiled. "Nope! Potato here can find the way out just fine. Right, boy?" He asked. Potato stopped growling long enough to look up at Alastair. He wagged his tail and looked back up the stairs before giving a happy bark, then it was back to the regularly scheduled program of growling. Alastair looked at the Roselia and smiled brightly at it. That was a beautiful Pokemon. Alastair hadn't seen one before.
"If you're lost, we can help you get out," Alastair said. This was a house. They could just jump out a window and hope for the best... not that Potato would approve of such an action, but landing was easy if you tucked and rolled.

Endric scratched his cheek nerviously. "Most maybe but Ivalice here likes to be" he paused for a moment as if searching for a fitting word while drumming his fingers against the tip of the pokemon's head which caused her to give a happy little wiggle. "Difficult.". As if on cue the the roselia chose to do a little dance for them rather than point a way to the exit. [Break][break] While many things that Endric was likely to say would be a lie this was actually one of the few that was not. His Roselia was a very silly pokemon, often fooling around rather than being of any help to the situation. Then again that was part of why he adored the Roselia so much, because she was a breath of fresh when he was surrounded by a need to anything but silly. She gave him something to smile at even if that smile was almost always inward. [Break][break] "I wouldn't want to impose though, we'll find our way out eventually." it was half act and half the fact he still wanted to look around. He'd go along if the other insisted of course to play along but he hoped if he did it'd take a little while so he could keep looking around as he had been already. He hated the idea of having to return again later. [break] Alastair Rome owo
Well, Alastair could believe a Pokemon being difficult. Yet at the same time... this was a house. How did someone get lost in a house? It wasn't worth asking. Some people just got lost. He gave the stranger and his Pokemon a long look, Potato still growling.... "How did you get lost in a house?" he asked. "There are windows everywhere." So much for not worth asking. It was just bothering him. Now, a three story mansion, sure. Alastair could understand that. After all, jumping from three floors required talent. But still... if this guy could get lost in a house, he could probably get lost in a hallway or while trying to find his way from the sink to the shower.
"Yeah, eventually," Alastair said. "No offence, but there are exits everywhere. If you got lost now, you'll probably get lost again... so the only course of action is to follow you." He said all this while he got out something from his backpack without having to remove it. Alastair had talent when it came from messing around with his bag. It was a bag of small pockets of dog food. He tossed one at Potato, the puppy running to catch it. The dog at it happily, running over to Alastair for more. It was lunch time for Potato, after all.
He looked back at the man. "Lead the way. I think Potato wants to explore more anyway." The puppy tilted his head to the side and looked back at the stranger, giving another growl. Almost like a warning. Alastair, being as dull as he was when it came to understanding what his Pokemon was sensing, just thought the dog was still hungry. Eventually the dog would stop being so hangry.

Somewhere inside his head Endric made the curse of 'arceus' tits' when the guy insisted on coming with him because if he was already lost in the place he'd get more lost without supervision. The place wasn't the biggest but now Endric was probably going to have to go much farther down the sensitive dumbass route than he normally did. For once he might have made a tiny misstep, not because he couldn't do it but because he would have to spend the entire time annoying the living shit out of himself. [break][break] He made sure to keep the gentle and concerned look going. "Are you sure? It's really alright, I just get a little out of sorts in creepy places like this I'll get out eventually." really, he simply didn't want to be a bother! at east that's the vibe he was going for. Arceus knew he could actually be arsed to care about imposing on people normally. "Besides your poochyena doesn't seem to like me too much anyway." stupid poop colored pooch. it could growl all it wanted but seemed its trainer was as dense as some of the rocks out in eclo canyon. [break][break] It was at this point that the roselia under his hand seemed to start making a fuss, sternly pointing her flowers at the new pair and making a face at Endric. The last thing he needed was for her to be in one of her moods but that was definitely what was happening now. She saw new people, the new people interested her, she wanted to play with the new people. Endric sighed. "It would seem Ivalice wishes for you to stick around after all, I mean if you're sure you have the time." arceus' tits. [break][break] He needed to move a little before he had an outburst, at this point the green haired man veered off, slowly trudging back the way he'd come, likely with a whole posse in tow now.[break] Alastair Rome owo
Wandering around in a creepy place? That didn't sound very smart. Now, for someone like Alastair, it was the perfect thing to do. He thrived on exploring things he didn't now about and when something was creepy it just meant he didn't understand. But this guy? No. He looked like he couldn't even dent a wet noodle. But instead of saying that, Alastair just shrugged. "I still have some exploring I want to do," he said, given falling through floor boards and down stairs wasn't really 'exploring'. Now the thing about Potato got Alastair's attention. True, the dog didn't seem too fond of the stranger, and it might not be hunger, but Alastair was going to go with the benefit of the doubt.
"Might be because you smell funny," Alastair said. "Or there's a ghost behind you. Who knows? Potato. Heel." The puppy stopped growling and sat down by Alastair's keg, wagging his tail fast. The dog gave the man another glare, almost as if it was a 'try something and you won't be able to call yourself a man anymore I swear upon Arceus'. "Guess you could say Potato isn't too fond of meeting strangers in an abandoned house." Speaking of which, neither was Alastair, but this guy seemed harmless enough. Besides, Alastair had a quick fix for that plant. It was a little something called August and Ember. Not that the man seemed dangerous, but given Alastair's track record with getting hurt, he should start taking some precautions.
The man's Pokemon got Alastair's attention. Aw, she seemed sweet. Well, he could deny a Pokemon's request, even though he was going with the stranger anyway. Why, if something was to happen, he might snap in half! Once the man began to walk away, Alastair gave him a look before following, Potato trotting along beside him. Ah, what's the worse that could happen?

"Well I guess if it's a ghost at least he'll be warning us ahead of ti-" The first accident actually was not on purpose. A rare, genuine accident caused by Endric's own mild frustration leading to him not paying attention quite as well as he normally did and the light he had been using to be sure the path was clear hadn't been in front of him and next thing he knew he stepped on something that rolled. The object rolled under foot, upsetting his balance and the man tipped over. [break][break] Endric rolled onto his back after he hit the floor and lay there in the dust, questioning why he'd even entered this stupid old house to begin with. At this rate it was shaping up to be one of those days where he went back to headquarters, locked himself up in his room and refused to come out until morning. Likely with no sleep because he stayed up all night playing games to destress. Of course the lack of sleep would backfire, it was a vicious cycle. [break][break] This was what was going through his head when his Roselia suddenly sprinted to his side in a dramatic fashion. A very dramatic fashion. Arms swinging too much as she ran followed by her dropping to her knees in despair at his side before flinging her arms over his chest with dramatic flare and fake sobbing over his 'dead body'. "No more late night TV for you Ivalice." the pokemon sat up and pouted at him for not playing along. [break][break] "As I was saying," he sat up and rubbed his shoulder. "At least the pooch can warn us before something spooky happens right?" Endric tried to shake the dust out of his hair, he'd be needing a shower later. [break] Alastair Rome so apparently I opened this thread up, got part way into a reply, closed it for some reason and forgot to check back in OTL Sorry
