Long ago, the region of Orre was a place of untold danger, where two groups: Cipher and Snagem, wished to rule the region through the power of shadow pokemon. Pokemon who's hearts had been closed and were used as machines to fight rather than as partners to the trainers who caught them. These groups were defeated by courageous young trainers who wished to free pokemon from these fates and restore peace back to Orre. That peace has lasted many years and perhaps has done more bad than good for the region of Orre. With so much peach, how will the region react to the rumors of Cipher returning once again? The peace has been a blessing indeed, but with peace always springs a new enemy that wishese to destroy it once again. Which side shall you choose in this endless struggle between peace and chaos?

"Yeah..." he said awkwardly, wiping the rest of the blood from his nose with the tissue, "Sorry about the blood on the mirror." "It's fine," said the retail worker. They gave him an awkward smile. "Please be careful." "Always am!" Alastair said, happily going on his way towards the food court. He tripped on his way there. Leap gave a soft cry of remorse. The most dangerous thing to his human was the human. It was stressful. Alastair got up, gave a hiss at the pain in his still injured leg, and kept limping.
The food court was ritzy. In fact, it was a buffet. Alastair paid a small fee and got a plate full of food before sitting down and stuffing his face. Leap ate a small portion of Pokemon food. He didn't really want the rest.
"Hello, may I sit here?" someone asked. Alastair looked out, right in the middle of devouring a turkey leg using his hands. He smiled.
"Sure!" he put the leg down and wiped off his hands. "You are...?"
"Bealli. Lady Bealli," she said, gracefully eating her salad.
"Alastair Rome, call me Al." He went back to eating the turkey leg. The woman smiled.
"Rome? Professor Rome? You know, I've heard a lot about you!" She said. "A field professor, right?"
"Yup," he said, putting down the bone. "Do you have a job for me or...?"
"Oh no, just wanted to compliment you on your work. One of my colleagues mentioned you and I can't believe I ran into you!"
Alastair narrowed his eyes a bit. "Your face is red. You sick?"
"What? No, just some honey glow in my cheeks is all!"
He made sure his hand was clean before reaching over and touching her forehead. "You're burning up, ma'am. Do you need to go to the nurse?"
She backed away with a smile and began to fan herself. Alastair looked at the paper fan. Where the hell had she put that? He sat back and gave her a level look. Even Leap was staring at her.
"So, Professor-"
"Al, please. I don't like being called that," he said. He gave a timid smile. "Makes me feel old." Her smile only grew.
"So, Al, where did you find this Beldum?"
"Leap? In a ship. That's also where I nearly lost my leg," he said, stabbing a piece of a potato with his fork.
"How dreadful!"
"Not really." He ate the potato. They sat in silence for a bit.
"Mr. Alastair, I will be frank. Would you be willing to attend dinner with me? Tonight?"
Alastair thought about it. There was something off about that question. "Sorry," he said, "if that dinner invitation comes attached with the word 'date' I need to decline."
The woman seemed sad. Alastair couldn't say he didn't pity her. He would have been sad too if Leap had just eaten his salad.
"Then we shall battle! If I win, you must accompany me to dinner."
Alastair stopped halfway from shoving a piece of steak in his mouth. He looked to Leap. Leap looked back. "Sure," he said, standing up. "Leap?"
The Beldum floated in front of Alastair, following him out onto the main floor. This whole place really was designed for trainers. The woman sent out her Pokemon, the giraffe looking creature stomping a hoof.
"Stomp!"
"Dodge then Take Down!" Alastair said. Leap moved out of the way then tackled the Girafarig hard on the side, knocking it over. The Pokemon got up and used Confusion, striking Leap. He shook it off then charged again, slamming into the chest of the Girafarig this time, sending the Pokemon stumbling back.
The two struggled, Alastair watching the lady. She seemed intent on getting him to go to dinner but Alastair just wasn't interested... he didn't even know her! Now if it was a free meal as friends then perhaps.
The enemy Pokemon tackled Leap, the Beldum backing up before using Take Down. He hit the Girafarig hard enough to send it crashing into the ground and skidding. The Pokemon rose slowly then collapsed. That was a painful looking hit. The lady sighed.
"I see then..."
"We can still eat lunch," Alastair said, sitting back down. "So what do you do for a living?"
The woman hesitated then recalled her Pokemon, sitting back down as well. "Believe it or not, I'm actually a laboratory technician..."

He sat there in silence, splashing in the shallow fountain with his flippers. It was kinda comfortable, but the water was a little too cold. The Lapras splashed around again and let out a cry, looking for his trainer. No response came. People walked by, probably thinking the pokeball left behind was a sign the trainer would return. A little note was with it though. The Lapras sighed and splashed again before laying his head on the marble wall of the fountain. He watched the people and their happy Pokemon walk by. He closed his eyes and shook a little in a silent sob.
A soft hand touched his head. "Hey, what's wrong?"
The Lapras opened his eyes and looked up. It was a human. Rough looking by the sight of him. Dirty blond hair that was unkempt, faint scars all over. The Lapras nudged his pokeball with his nose and closed his eyes again. He heard the human take it.
Alastair read the note, anger rising in him at every word.
"Dear whoever finds this,
Take this pitiful thing off my hands. He refuses to swim or get into anything more than eight feet. He's useless on a team. If you find a use for him, then good job. I don't want him.
Good riddance too."
Alastair crumbled the note up and threw it away in the closest recycle bin before scooping up the pokeball of the Lapras. He froze. Monday... the fish was special to Alastair but... but damn it! This Lapras needed someone! How could anyone be so damn heartless? If he ever found the person that did this he was going to teach them a lesson.
"Come on," he said, putting the Lapras's pokeball on his belt. Monday's disappeared to go the PC. "Let's get you some food and get that shell polished huh?"
The Lapras raised his head and stared at Alastair. He then rammed his head into the human's chest. Alastair fell back and wheezed. The Lapras splashed in the water and gave a happy cry and a smile. Alastair stood up and pressed against the tender spot on his chest and rubbed the Lapras's head. "Alright, alright... how about we call you... Tuesday?"
Tuesday gave a big splash and a cry of joy. A nickname! He got a nickname! Tuesday jumped out of the water and the pokeball's center button glowed. Some of the water from the fountain gathered under the Pokemon's belly and flippers. With a smile and a new stride in his flippers, Tuesday followed the human to a Pokemon grooming shop.
"I want the best treatment for a Lapras, please," Alastair said, opening his wallet. "Shell polishing, feeding, the works." The woman behind the counter nodded, took Alastair's payment, and led the Lapras towards the back. Alastair sat down and got a fashion magazine out of the basket. Leap was floating beside him, watching where the Lapras disappeared into. The Beldum gave a nod. Yes, this human was worth protecting.
A noise got the Beldum's attention and he went on guard mode. Alastair looked up from the "how to make your legs smoother then before" section. He looked to what Leap was and made an 'oh'. It was a Vulpix! The fox was growling.
It was hurt. Alastair moved but the Pokemon spat flames. Leap used Take Down in response, as if to say "try it again and I'll fuck you up just try me". The Vulpix did try it again. The fox charged and hit the Beldum hard with a Quick Attack. Leap responded with another Take Down.
Alastair jumped up and got out an empty pokeball. He waited for Leap to tackle the Vulpix again, taking an ember in response. Then Alastair threw the pokeball, watching it shake.
"Hey!"
Alastair looked up, the pokeball still shaking. The man approached. He was about Alastair age and rough looking.
"That was my catch!"
"Then you should have been fast enough," Alastair growled back. Leap gave a defiant cry at the stranger, getting in front of Alastair.
The door to the spa for Pokemon opened and Tuesday emerged with a woman smiling. Her smile faded quickly and she retreated to the back. Yeah... Pokemon fights were common but not human fights.
The man eyed the Lapras and Tuesday backed away a bit. "Ha! So you took that pitiful Lapras?"
Alastair froze. "You left him there?"
The man laughed and shoved Leap aside, the Beldum hitting the counter. Tuesday rushed to the Beldum's aid.
"Yeah, what about it?"
Alastair clenched his jaw.
The man soon found himself without Alastair's graces... and without a nice looking nose. The fight attracted a crowd. The man was spewing blood and Alastair was trying his best to dodge chest hits with his injured leg. The smaller man rounded with a punch to the throat the larger guy stumbling back. This wasn't Alastair's first fight and it wasn't his last.
The man came at Alastair and hit him in the jaw. That was the final straw. Leap charged and hit the man square in the chest with a Take Down, knocking him into a fountain. The man got up and charged at the little Beldum. His fist found itself on the thick fat of the water ice type. The Lapras glared down at him.
"What is going on here?" a police offer asked. She already had her taser and handcuffs ready.
Alastair stood up. "He shoved my Beldum, officer... but in his defense I did break his nose." He shifted his weight to his good leg. His pants were soaked with blood. The bandages must have been ripped somehow. "He also abandoned that Lapras!"
"Cause its useless!" the man shouted, trying to step over to Alastair. The cop stepped between them.
"NO POKEMON IS USELESS!" Alastair screamed. He could feel his eyes burning with tears. "Say it again and I'll break your fucking neck!"
The police officer looked shocked. Alastair didn't know if it was because he was screaming or because he was crying. "Tuesday, come here." He said a lot softer. "You too, Leap." The two Pokemon approached him, Tuesday headbutting Alastair's shoulder gently. Leap pressed himself against Alastair's chest protectively.
He grabbed hold of Tuesday's shell and gave the officer an apologetic look. "I'll head over to the station, ma'am. This way right?"
"Yes it is that way," she said almost flabbergasted.
"Thank you." Alastair limped, worse than before, and gritted his teeth at the pain in his leg.
The woman that worked at the Pokemon Spa watched him go and looked at the still rolling Vulpix ball. She hesitated for a few moments, wondering what she should do.

He sat there with a throbbing, swollen jaw and a bleeding, aching leg. Alastair had consented to the bag search after being stared down by four police officers. Then his things were returned to him. He got to work nursing his leg again. He wrapped the wounds and tapped the bandages to his leg and then let his leg bleed. There was nothing else he could really do except suffer at this point. What he really wanted to do was go back to his hotel room and sleep... well, his replacement hotel room considering his last one was destroyed.
"Sir, can you please control your Beldum?" asked one of the officers at the desk. Leap was poking through all his things.
"No, officer," said Alastair. "He does as he pleases."
Leap knocked down a box. The officer sighed and began to pick up the materials. He put an item on Leap's head.
"Here, maybe this will appease you." Leap brought it over to Alastair. He looked it over and then put it in his bag. Score. Everything fell silent after that. Tuesday sat on the floor and had long since gone to sleep. Leap finally settle by Alastair and stared at the police officer at the desk. Alastair sat there in pain. He tried his best to keep his mouth shut and to not say anything stupid. So far, he was doing alright.
"Alright, Professor Rome," said one of the officers as they came into the waiting room. "The good news is he isn't pressing any char-"
"I am. For Pokemon abuse," said Alastair.
"We don't think he-"
"You have security cameras. Use them. He not only abandoned a Pokemon without properly releasing it into the wild, but he also shoved my Beldum. He's lucky I didn't have my Ponyta out or he would have been burned alive. He's lucky he got a broken nose and a sore on his chest." Alastair stared at the officer. "Can I have my pain meds back? They are prescribed to me and I feel like screaming in pain."
The officer hesitated before nodding to the one at the desk. He got the confiscated pill bottle and tossed it to Alastair. Leap darted to catch it on his head before bringing it over to Alastair. The researcher took one of the pills and unscrewed his water bottle. He took the pill and sat there in silence. He wanted to sleep.
"Are you sure you want to press charges?" asked one of the officers. "We know he's at fault and you defended your Pokemon and yourself, but we don't want this to happen again."
"Get me a denial of contact and a restraining order against that jackass and I'll be fine. If he comes within fifty feet of me or my Pokemon, then I will have full rights to set his ass on fire." Alastair hesitated. "One hundred feet. All times. All directions. I don't care if you have to put a collar on both of us, just keep him away."
The officer sighed. There was no point arguing with Alastair. They all figured that out as soon as he got here. He was going to make their jobs increasingly difficult. Not only that, but it was obvious he was nervous. He was jittery and had trouble not reacting to every little noise. He looked at each officer as if they were going to pounce him. His body was tense and his face tenser. Even his Pokemon held a tense air... except for Tuesday who was still asleep.
"Um, excuse me," said the massage spa woman. She walked in and smiled at the police. She then walked over to Alastair. "You left this at the spa. I figured I should bring it over, considering you caught it." She held out a pokeball. Alastair looked at her then tentatively took it. He put it in his bag.
"Thank you."
The woman stood there, then looked to the officer. "I'll be happy to speak on this gentleman's behalf. I reviewed the cameras from my spa and saw where the man abandoned the Lapras there, and where the man provoked a fight over the Vulpix."
The officer sighed. "No need, ma'am. It's clear this is a self-defense case, but we still need him to-" Alastair swayed and put his head in his hands. He was loosing too much blood. "May I go to the first aid station?" he asked. "I think the wounds are failing to clot."
It was a blur after that. Alastair remembered going faint. Then he was being transported to the first aid clinic, and then he woke up with fifty stitches in his leg with it securely wrapped and tapped. The woman from the spa must have volunteered to take Alastair back to his room, because he remembered her helping him walk back.
He leaned against the door while she fumbled through his backpack for the room key. Leap tried to help, but he only got in her way. Tuesday acted as support for Alastair when he tried to move from the door.
"Found it," she said. She stood up and unlocked the door, then helped Alastair in. "Goodness, I thought we would never make it." She sat him down on the bed and organized the pills the doctor gave him. "There. All of them are ordered for when you need to take them," she said. "The last ones are only to be taken as needed for pain, alright?"
Alastair nodded. "Thank you, miss...?"
"I'm Mrs. Suzanne Daley. And no problem, Mr. Rome. This will make for an interesting story to tell the kids." She got up and wiped off her uniform. "I hope you recover. That's quite the wound."
Alastair chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, but I'm used to them. As long as those antibacterial medications work to prevent infection, I'll be fine. Thank you so much, Mrs. Daley."
She smiled and left the room. Leap pushed the lock on the door and turned off the lights. Alastair laid down, far too tired to take off his clothes and change into his pajamas. He let his eyes close. The last thing he heard was a relaxed and happy sounding coo from Tuesday. He felt the Lapras nudge his hand, then he was out like a light.

He slept for a good ten hours. Somewhere during that, he had woken up, changed into his pajamas, went to the bathroom, then fell back asleep. The only reason he knew that was because the bathroom light was on and he was in his pajamas. His leg was throbbing in pain and his jaw hurt, but overall he was fine.
Alastair sat up and scratched the back of his head. Needless to say, he had a bad case of bed head. Not that it mattered. He got out of bed and grabbed one of the pain pill bottles and took one of the pills, then took the correct dosage of the antibacterial medication. He put down the glass of water and blinked the sleep out of his eyes. He needed a shower. He got up and rummaged through his bag until he found clean clothes and went to the bathroom. There, he found Tuesday in the bathtub. The Lapras gave him a smile and clapped his flippers against the tub. Alastair smiled back.
"Alright, get out, I need to clean myself off. I smell like shit," he said. He patted Tuesday's neck as the Lapras squeezed his way past the door. Alastair closed the door and turned on the water. He unwrapped his leg and surveyed the damage. It wasn't as bad as he thought, but it would take longer to heal. He sighed and threw the bandages away and opened the bathroom door. Leap was already waiting there with Alastair's bag on his back. "Thanks, buddy," Alastair said as he took the bag. Leap gave a happy cry and went back to sleep on the chair.
The shower was heavenly. And so was the shave after. Alastair hadn't felt clean in a long while. It came with the territory of his work. He sighed and wrapped his leg up and then got fully dressed. He liked the new clothes he got. He figured Mrs. Daley must have asked someone to bring his bags back to him, considering they were in his room with a note from the front desk wishing that he got better soon.
He left the bathroom with his bag and froze. There was a note under the door. He picked it up and flipped it open.
"Dear Professor Rome,
I hope you are feeling better. Attached to this card is a gift from my husband. He runs a local cafe in the Tower (third floor, green district, 'Island Cafe: Hoenn and Alola Region inspired coffee and cuisine'). When I told him about what happened, he said he was overwhelmed with pride at the dedication you showed to your new Lapras. He would like for you to come by for a meal. He won't be working there today, considering we both have a meeting to go to, but he said to present this note, as well as the card, to his workers and they will provide you and your Pokemon with food.
I am terribly sorry that your injury got worse upon the incident. Feel free to always stop by for another spa treatment for your Pokemon.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Daley."
"Well would you look at that," he said. "Guess it sometimes pays off to not be a total ass." He carefully folded the note and put it in his pocket. "We're getting some food, guys, come on."
He watched the two Pokemon and smiled at Tuesday. "I'll let you out later, buddy." He recalled the Lapras and put the pokeball against his belt. Leap gave a cry and circled around Alastair. Needless to say, the Beldum was beginning to trust the human more. Alastair was happy about that. He stopped Beldum in his tracks and patted his head.
They left the room, Alastair making sure all the lights were off and the door was locked, before taking the elevator down to the third floor. He stepped out and looked around. It was kinda dead. Then again, it was pretty early in the morning. He had no idea when he went to sleep, but a large clock said it was eight. Most places didn't open till eight thirty or nine. He sighed and started to limp his way towards... wherever he was going to waste thirty minutes to an hour. Leap floated beside him.
He heard a lot growl come from his right. Alastair stopped and looked at the electric dog. Her fur was puffed up. She gave Leap a leer, but the Beldum was having none of it. He charged with a Take Down and slammed the dog against a wall. The puppy got up and gave a Howl before charging with a Tackle. She hit Leap hard, but not hard enough. He was getting stronger, but then again... this dog seemed pretty tough herself. Alastair limped back and watched. He had learned thus far that, once his Pokemon were with him for a while, they would know how he wanted them to fight.
The dog tackled Leap again after he used another Take Down. Leap shook himself and narrowed his red eye, then charged. He slammed the dog into a flower pot, shattering the clay. The soil covered the dog and Alastair was quick with the pokeball. That hit seemed to weaken her a bit, considering she didn't get up right away.
The dog was sucked into the device by the red beam, and then the pokeball began to roll around in the soil and the destroyed plant.

He put the pokeball in his bag and continued walking. Leap wandered away after a few moments and found another item. He shoved it in Alastair's hands and waited expectantly. Alastair looked at the ice heal. Well... he supposed it was alright. Leap seemed to be pretty good at finding items.
"Good job," said Alastair. Leap spun around from the praise and darted off. Alastair attempted to catch up but his leg started to hurt again. He slowed and sat down on a bench. There was no way he was going to be able to walk for more than ten minutes today. Leap returned to him and hovered in front of him before wandering away. Sometimes Leap looked behind him to make sure Alastair was still there. After confirming the human had not moved, Leap continued exploring. He was sure he could find something to make Alastair smile.
